The only reason why I am still alive is because I had Skinny Puppy when I was going through the worst time of my life. This music isn't negative it's uplifting and cries for change in the world.

while this may be true, I suspect ohgr may be a child molester. Also band has been suspiciously silent about the whole canadian trucker thing. I guess I cant fault them too much, they were probably MK ultra victims.

Fascinating set of clips. Smart dudes who really thought about what they were doing. Also amazing to see them all so young!

Saw Front Line Assembly in 98 a few days before I went to boot camp. Fulber was not onboard that tour but it was still an amazing gig and the driving beats kept me marching when I was to tired to move.

I hate it if they call it industrial music. These Canadian bands were way too pop-oriented. Nothing you would compare to Throbbing Gristle, SPK or Whitehouse.

Ah City Limits , my education in good music before the internet . Much Music was great back then . They did one of their "Spotlight" shows on industrial . It had most of this plus Laibach , Godflesh , Foetus , Coil , NIN , and played pretty much prime time in the evening .

it's too bad time seems to have mashed the energy and dynamism these two bands had- the newer stuff is pretty disappointing and never gets the rotation the original stuff does (even though Im pretty sick of hearing it nowadays- need new "old stuff" I guess - ha !)

Not really. NIN sounds completely different than either group in my opinion. I think that a lot of people who think this are people who were not around back in the day and are not aware of how many industrial groups there were. Skinny Puppy, FLA, Front 242 etc.. did not spring from nothing. They were influenced by Portion Control, D.A.F, Test Dept. Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Absolute Body Control, Klinik just to name a few. Trent was no ore influenced than any other next wave of industrial groups that were making a more percussive/dance driven form of industrial. They all put their own twist on the sound.
