This was during the really turbulent years of Skinny Puppy when the heroin and infighting were finally taking its tool on the band.
@corticallarvae Жыл бұрын
Also the best musickally Dwyane was doing aduck welt became Ritalin then oghre and the tear garden got its best albums from this period... it wasn't just heroin it was coke and personality conflicts amplified by immense success... natural disasters eating albums is infuriating and can only make things worse but skinny puppy as ogre cevin and dwayne were drifting in different directions which record labels intesified.....while they were stretched to thin obligation wise.. if you ask cevin Dwayne was the glue that held them together experimentally and interpersonally with in the band that may be true but cevin seems to have been the humble grinding propulsion that kept them going while grounded..Dwayne and Ken marshal and Dave rave Ogilvie were the experimental forces at play as well as cevin and ogre. Cevin still plays very regularly at a jazz club down that is prominent for provocative levels of talent.. when ogre became a practicing esotericist he had to make some tough choices that we all do. That is to pursue the hga and risk madness, unencumbered by physical comforts...substance abuse being one of those. That lautréamont armchair peering is much more dangerous than the doing.. Too dark park is cynical and untrusting Last rights is allegorical, as well as tiered reflection upon self... drug abuse being the obvious it also a report from where subconscious envelope unravels, and finally a pathworking where guiltman is the lurker on the threshold....it's a thoth deck pathworking ritual performed frequently enough that the acephalos banishing of the (PGM) would take hold on the first performance and strip everything away over and over regardless of the entelechy that was subsisting in some corner ogres being... it was a gnostic mass for those with eyes to see... it very jack parsons and frater achad at that... ;) anassemblage that worked because the revelation was true... it wasn't as stripped down a Spare but deserves credit right next to coil TG PTV and crashworship and kenneth anger for pulling a rite off in public..

I was at the "Tampa show" he was talking about, the show was at Janus Landing in Saint Petersburg which is part of the Tampa Bay area. In a much more recent interview Ogre went into detail about that and it's a very different story than what he's saying here... but I understand why he had to spin it the way he did at the time of this interview.

All great artists from the 90s were, actually, they were more original and experimental because of the drugs, and if you don’t think so and hate on it, well, not saying you’re in the wrong because addiction takes a hard hit on your mind and soul and it’s a better life choice to not do them, that being said, the creative process when influenced by being high on substances really makes bare more of your soul and takes anxieties away or overthinking on certain aspects, and causes more of an exploration on sounds, melodies, lyrics, and over all path that might connect to a good majority of people out there that have many different things that shape their life or lifestyle, such as partying, experimentation, sex, designing, group activities, maybe some things more sinister (not my lifestyle personally) or some more on a spiritual/religious journey. Overall, drug use can lead to great creativity and fun times, IF you can keep grasp on life and importantly, health and not over abuse to where nothing else but the drugs matter, then that’s a very dark place that usually only ends in one way. A legend of a man with a brilliant mind named Dr. Hunter S Thompson can relay this, many directors have said actors, such as Robert downy jr, was more of an artist while on drugs, and don’t even have to mention legends in music, from this time period as well to, as Kurt cobain, Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell, Scott weiland, Trent reznor, Peter Steele, and many, many more musicians. Am I advocating to “Do drugs”? No, just explaining for some people, that already are great artists, expands the boundaries of creativity and innovation, along with originality and depth, they help and influence in that matter
