I am 💯 on board with everything you say in this video! I am a Registered Nurse of 24 years and your pre- Keto story is shockingly close to mine. I was so sick and it progressively got worse and worse and came to a head after I had my second child at 35. Doctors were giving me no help at all. They just said “Increase your fiber and take this pill.” Shameful. I only found true relief when I went dairy free clean Keto. I will never go back to the SAD. Thank you for telling this to the world! I hope everyone will LISTEN ❤

Hi Shelly, I enjoyed watching your testimony. I'm a few years older than you; I went to Emory in Atlanta for my dietetic internship in the 90s. Oh boy, you hit the nail on the head with all the fat-free craziness. Snack wells, "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray", Lean Pockets! One of our rotations was at Coke Headquarters- promoting how great Coke is... my eyes have been opened since then. What a deceptive government scam the food guidelines are. Anyway, I wanted to thank you, and I look forward to watching more of your content.

I just discovered you today after searching for belly bloat. I just subscribed. I was up to over 180 at 5’4”. No matter what I did, plant based, vegan, Mediterranean diet, I couldn’t shed the pounds. Then I decided to try keto and I lost 25 pounds in one month. I stuck with it for almost a year and a half now and I’m at my goal weight, 130-135. I still have a problem with belly bloat though. I think it’s due to my using sugar alcohols in my morning coffee along with heavy cream. I’m looking forward to more of your videos. Edited to add: I went from a size 16 to a size 6. more and more people are doing it and now we know that when you hit your amino acid requirements for the day you won't be hungry. @KJB00013 жыл бұрын
@@ct7513 Totally agree. Nuts are carby and you can't have just 9. Carnivore is awesome and great for a full lifestyle change (Kelly Hogan/Dr. Cwyes) or just for a plateau. Protein snacks or even the PSMF bread (as toast) from Maria Emmerich with a savory compound butter might work if meat sounds boring.. My daughter is a carnivore (meat, fish, salts, ghee, mineral supplements) and she snacks on bacon wrapped shrimp crisped up in the air fryer. Five frozen shrimps (from the bag) quickly chilled in hot tap water, then wrapped in a half piece of bacon and cooked til crisp. I add a sliver of Pepper Jack and fresh jalapeno to make Shrimp Brochette. Her appetite is tiny because she hits her amino acid reqs early in the day, so she inadvertently does two meals a day. She looks super lean and her body fat DEXA'd at 13%. She rarely does more than Steady State Cardio (zone 2) for workouts. Also, Quest Tortilla Style Protein Chips. They're keto junk food, so I only take them to movie theatres or friends' houses when I know keto junk food won't be available. My husband LOVES 45o5 Chicharrones (pork rinds) in the green bag- Jalapeno Cheddar. Other brands are pretty nasty, IMHO.

Shelly, I tried to send you a private message in Facebook. I didn't have any luck. I received a message that said I cannot send you a message because you don't take private messages from just anyone. I didn't realize I was just anyone. Lol. I also tried to follow you and that section was grayed out. I want to tell you my story, but it's too long. Maybe someday I'll be able to take the time to type it all out and post it as a comment on your video. I was very moved and inspired to tell my story after watching this video. Keep up the amazing work. Get the word out there. The food that our government is saying is safe for us to eat is killing us.

Hey!!! You can email me at shelly@skinnylouisiana.com! I sadly have received some - well - threatening messages on FB so I had to privatize since police investigation is involved! It should have sent an automatic message with my email? Let me know if it didn’t! And you are not just anyone - you are amazing!

Hi Shelly, your story is incredible and inspiring. I am a veteran and am under the care of VA docs…Nothing wrong with that, but def can relate to not being heard. My cholesterol (family genetics) is pretty high which is concerning my doc (who wants to put me on a statin). All other stuff is normal though. In your professional opinion, is Keto the right fit? I’ve spoken to several VA dieticians who are NOT on board with Keto, so it’s hard to know who to believe…Thank you for your time! Great videos and I look forward to watching your future ones!

Hi Chris!!!! Thank you for your service to our country. I can understand the 'fear' of keto - old school keto was 'drinking ranch dressing' and just eating 'neck bones!' If you follow keto with beautiful omega-3 fats (olive oil) it is a wonderful plan! Let me know if you have anymore questions :)

Hi Shelly. I just found your channel & I'm a new subscriber. I love your honesty, openness, spirit & energy. I'm curious as to what your views are, based on research, on children eating a low carb diet, especially those with pre-diabetes?
@dietitianshelly Жыл бұрын
If they have pre-diabetes - they can follow a low carb diet with no problem!!!! Often, I look to add some good protein they can 'carry' to school and balance out their meals :)

The SAD diet is criminal. I learned how CAFO meat still isn't enough on Keto. Ya gotta go grass-fed, grass finished, pastured, or line-caught. Chickens need to eat the bugs or they are worthless to humans. When cows eat grains and not grass, their histamines are very high and then we eat it! Also, for satiety- when you hit your amino acid requirements for the day you won't be hungry. So low insulin and high amino acid is the secret to how keto works. Or a PSMF. Fiber is NOT essential to humans so don't force yourself to eat it.

I've been on and off the wagon between low carb and ketogenic. I've recently got motivated ( pissed and disgusted 🤣) to do something different because I have plateau on all levels. I gave to have Meat and vegetables. Oh and garlic,onions and herbs. 😀 A large salad triggers me big time so I don't mind a side salad but It does not fill me up and it gives me digestive issues especially lettuce. Now there are different kinds of salads that don't include rice and pasta that actually illuminate lettuce and I can handle those but not on a daily basis it's too much. My favorite go-to veggies are steam broccoli and brussel sprouts. I would put a small amount of butter on it coat it and it's delicious with whatever meat I want with how much ever animal fat I want which is usually much but enough to give it taste. I have to have spices and herbs to season my food. I'm rebooting as of today I'm a document my changes. I know this video is a year old but appreciate it. And I received your apologies in place of the insane dietitians and RNs that treated me and we're outright wrong! I remember being at a training thing for diabetes and they gave us a whole meat sandwich and baked potato chips for lunch 🤦 My sugar shot to 249. What the hell is wrong with the medical! 🤦 community?! So here's to reboot.
