JT, if you were his trainer what would you have him focus on right now. I would have him focus on making threes so an NBA team will pick him up. Then he can work on his other skills during his time there to get into the rotation.

Great Video. Yeah, I watched Nix in High School and in the G-league. He always looked out of shape. I thought he would have at least improved his shooting but looks like he did not. Unfortunate.

Only 22 years old now in 5th season as pro, 4th playing in the NBA. Just scored 13 preseason pts in 14 minutes against Nuggets. He made it dude. Edit: Just put up 45/10/8 and a game ending steal at a Wolves G-League game.

His issue was when he started at the g league he came in over weight and didn’t recover.. it’s crazy had he went the ucla route and been on that ucla tournament team he would’ve been a top 15 pick

I think people who went through Ignite underestimated the fact that a lot of college basketball coaches have the experience with young players to let them know what they can improve on before they go pro or when mightbeacgood timr to go. Another thing is that college basketball still has elite talent (all Americans, guys who developed to NBA caliber finding out where they need to improve, etc).

I personally believe only "generational" (or as close "generational" as possible) esque American prospect should consider going pro. The grassroots system just doesn't develop talent well enough.

@@DiorInEveryStore By default. There's literally no other loophole for American talent. AAU is where prospects display their talent to put themselves on recruiting radars. Does that mean their individual skillset are being groomed to become the best PROFESSIONAL they can be? No. Not necessarily. AAU has been hijacked for years, but besides that, the brand of ball being played in that setting requires no actual thinking of the game and no comradery with personnel, both which are necessary to win games and ultimately survive in high level professional leagues. It's comparable to NBA regular season style of play opposed to Playoff basketball where the game slows down, reads need to be made in tune in order to capitalize on defensive errors, and every single possession means that much more.

Blame your parents for conceiving you earlier than expected🤷‍♂️😅. A lot of the future prospects will have had an easier road to success aka financial stability/generational wealth b/c of the sacrifices made by the previous generations so that they could prosper the way they are now. If it hadn't taken this long for N.I.L deals to be put in place I doubt players like him would've bypass playing NCAA🤷‍♂️.

Aye man. This stunted growth is a little premature. They’re a lot of guys around his age that aren’t even in the league at all…like Amari Bailey, Josh Christopher, Isaiah Todd, etc. At least he’s still on a roster getting an NBA check.

you make a good point, at the lower level his athleticism and physicality was enough; he never had to develop his shooting or the nuance of shooting as an art..g league isnt a developmental league. Its guys trying to get on, if you develop down there great; but guys are competing for potential job opportunities. Ignite just wasnt a good fit for a guy who wasnt a lotto talent; i think a year or two in college wld have got him acclimated to the athleticism and had him addressing his limitations earlier

G league had the right idea but the program should have spread out the young talent. Stacking them all on the same team didn’t work in my opinion.

The Ignite was horrible. Personally, they should’ve just made it a development offseason program for HS seniors and college players to better prepare them in general (get college looks, nba scouts, etc). They’re playing 20+ yr old men at 17-18 with years of development ahead of them, so they won’t look as good. Idc who they are.

I actually think he did the right thing. I think he would’ve been exposed in college. Even with a good program and coach, just don’t think he would’ve cut it on an athletic level.

There should be no reason why the Ignite shouldn't prepare you better for the league than college. I just think these players that went to the ignite were never truly as talented as we thought they were. I also feel like guys who play for ignite think the g league game is too similar to the league and adapt like that rather than adjusting to the league like college players.
