Skoda ENYAQ or Tesla Model Y, Which would you pick?

We are currently driving Enyaq 80x and Model Y Performance and there is huge difference. I would pick MY every day. Software is not even comparable, Tesla is light years ahead, more space, ride comfort is about the same. It is shameful that Skoda haven't released a single software upgrade and in a year and there is a lot to improve - incredibly laggy and slow infotaimentsystem. Have had MYP since May 30th and have already updated maps two times and car have received four updates. Better efficiency as well even though much higher power output, fun to drive. No panel gaps, Giga Berlin car, no cheap plastics inside, better materials used all over the car. Only thing talking for the Enyaq is that it is a bit more conservative and looks like an ICE car.

@@NevoEVReviewIreland we drive around 20-25000km/year with each car so two EVs is preferable with todays fuel prices - diesel is currently at 2,5 euros here in Sweden and that is cheapest it has been in last few months. Enyaq really needs software fix, it is as I already said shameful that some owners have had their cars over a year now and have not received a single update. Skods have been talking about 3.0 since first cars have been delivered, but nothing so far - new cars however are delivered with 3.0, but owners are not happy at all as 3.0 software seems to be even slower and with more buggs. Supercharger network is now open for everyone here in Sweden, not all "stations", but around 90%, not happy over decision as a Tesla owner. 😁 There are however two or three things I'd like to change on MY and one of those is a quiet big deal for me. When driving with cruise control on or auto pilot the car is not keeping enough distance to the car in front, it's under 3 second, just over 2,5s on lvl 7, it's just not enough at speeds over 90kph, especially not in winter conditions. I really hope that Tesla will do something about it. Second thing is regen breaking - when on lowest setting I would actually like to shut it off completely, would be nice to have that option on country roads ot motorways. Last thing I'd like to see some changes for is steering. I love that it's quick and reactive, feels really sporty, but I'd like to actually see a difference when in comfort mode, would like for steering wheel to feel lighter and not responsive if it makes any sense, it would be safer in winter conditions. Otherwise, really love it, as I already said would pick it over Enyaq easily now after almost a year with Enyaq and just month and a half with MY.

I totally agree about the software updates. Now that the Enyaq 85 has been introduced with newer software, I think a lot of issues have been solved. Especially preheating the battery etc. that said, as a 2021 Enyaq owner, I feel like we have been used as a testing ground to see which problems arise and what issues need addressing. My last 4 cars have been Škoda but my next one won’t be. It will more than likely be a Tesla model Y

There is one feature available in skoda which I haven't found in any other car. If you choose a family pack then you get tables for rear passengers built in the backrests of front seats. My children love them. As well as sun blinds on rear windows, special head holders for sleeping in rear headrests. Skoda Enyaq is the best EV for families with kids. (Not to mention Bentley style umbrellas in front doors:) I've tested some 10 evs and I chose Enyaq for my family.

I envy the technology of the Tesla cars and all the integrated features of its infotainment system. I would still choose Skoda for its better embedded driver environment, the information cluster in front of the steering wheel and its comfort. That Tesla has a longer range than Skoda means less to me who never drains a battery during the day and always can charge slowly overnight.

Good review looking forward to a full in depth comparison as I ordered the Enyaq last Nov to be guaranteed delivery for Jan 23. Model Y is fun to drive but the Skoda is more practical as a family car.

I would say the Enyaq purely as I prefer it's looks to the Y and I still prefer a instrument cluster in front of the driver and prefer the looks of the Enyaq and the glass roof in winter would just make it feel cold in the cabin of the Y (as Bjorn has mentioned as well on more than one Tesla) and the Enyaq name. :)

Here in Latvia and Baltic countries there were no superchargers at all, the closest being in Poland. Now they opened one spot in Latvia but in a place where it is almost never needed, plus it's the most expensive charging here. So supercharger network is no plus at all in eastern europe. Another weakness - there are no tesla service centers in these countries - closest one across the sea in Finland or some 900km away in Poland. Again a big minus. So at least here Tesla ir just for fan boys.

test dove the model y twin motor , i bought skoda enyaq vrs coupe in graphite grey , stunning colour , and vrs comes standard with panaramic roof and twin motor , had for 4 months now and its been # faultless , yes tesla has better chargers but i have never yet used a public charger as retired and dont do long journey, in 4 months i have spent less than £60 with octopussy , saved 20k from new and car was less than 6 months old with less than 3k on the clock , i always pay cash for my cars . had 4 octavia vrs and skoda superb 272 sportline plus . they have all been great , and i used to take the piss out of skoda as a kid ...............ha ha owned 28 ice cars in my time and i did get a puncture in the enyaq a week ago , and when i handed over the £250 for the tyre told the mechanic that it was more money than my first car ............... ford capri 1600 gt .......

Enyaq for me. I prefer the exterior, the ride and the interior quality. Big plus of the MY is the better software stability and performance. Also you don't have to wait 1year+ to get a Model Y. MEB with SW >3.x also has better working driving assist in my opinion.

Got Model Y Performance for 78k with different paint, built new Enyaq 80x with the same specifications as the one we already have and the price is 73k, 70k after some discount from the dealership. So it all depends on the market, but here in Sweden Enyaq is expensive.

Moved from a tesla model 3 to an enyaq. Tesla feels like you're in a live beta test with software that's not ready yet. And it had to go for repairs every month. Skoda has been flawless over last 12 months. Škoda autopilot system works perfectly unlike the tesla one that was plagued with phantom braking and out of date maps (mine had maps that hadn't updated for 15 months)

@Herra Makkara actually he has owned a resla. He has his own toy tube channel. Tesla are OK car but they have made many mistakes in their design due largely to lack of experience. I personally wouldn't want one but there are plenty of good alternatives these days, .some of which are better depending on what you're looking for.

It used to repeatedly do dangerous stuff like full emergency stops on the motorway or swerving to avoid imaginary obstacles ("autosteer applied for your safety"). Tesla said it wasn't a fault as the software is all still in beta. And because it uses open source mapping rather than Google it was out of date mapping too.

The Enyaq in a heart-beat not only for the looks and interior but also because of the "experience" that a friend had with his Model Y. The finish on the Tesla is very questionable. On battery technology the Tesla is the clear winner but I would still choose the Skoda any day

Public information announcement! I had a choice of these two and unfortunately chose WRONG! The Tesla (which you would think has the better tech), has • Absolutely appalling adaptive cruise control (I am taking 2014 standard not 2024), • Auto wipers that don’t work, and thus menus to go through to put them on! • Software that - while better than other manufacturers software - is not better than CarPlay!!! (Which Skoda and many others have) • Rattles! • noisier and less smooth than the Enyaq! Model Y - may have a few silly gimmicks and some prefer the looks, but it is NOT a better car. For the first time ever I am gutted about a new car and cannot wait for lease to end.

The Tesla has a turn radius of 12m+ while the Enyaq has just 10m. That's a huge difference when you try and navigate a parking garage. In that sense the Tesla is not preferable. Also the drive is noticeably harder and less comfortable than the Enyaq. Also the build quality of the Enyaq is just a level above tge Tesla. I like the Tesla, it's a great car. And I prefer the software in Tesla. But overall and since I park in a garage building I would go for the Enyaq.

Test drove the tesla, nice car with los os features as standard .very sleek but the downside is i feel the materials or the built quality is inferior when compared to skoda. Again, as the tesla is a direct outlet iam concerned about the relability of the service provided whereas, skoda has dealerships and service centres in each town . Skoda is really spacious, well built quallity vehicle easily available with good offers currently, but tesla is cheeky they advertise as 0% Apr after driving them and was about to book the same. To my suprise i was the 0% apr is available only for demo cars without any discount , but went to skoda the sales advisor took his time and went through the stocks and helped us to source the right car. I will be leaning towards skoda for defo❤

I have a Tesla model 3, and have just ordered a Skoda enyaq 80 sportline as a 2nd car as it's interior is far more practical with superior build quality, and in our opinion is better suited to 2 Labradors and 3 children to mess up. also has we intend to keep the Skoda for a long time I suspect cheaper to maintain out of warranty. I am a bit of a Tesla fan boy and love our model 3 but purely for practical reasons we chose the Enyaq over the Tesla model Y after testing both the VW ID4 and Audi Q4 etron. The Skoda had all the build quality of the Audi but at 45k € on the road with options against 67k € for the Model Y, and so for our needs the enyaq ticked all the boxes.

These were my two finalists. I actually prefer the exterior of the Enyaq, but the interior, efficiency and tech of the Model Y are next level and I don’t regret my choice one bit. One reviewer said ‘Skoda have gone all-in on EV’. They certainly have not - as you said, that could be the interior of an ICE car. It’s time to move on.

VW know what they are doing. They tend to focus a lot on technology in their own cars and their designs are very clean, modern and perfect for someone who wants a nice looking car but doesn't want to be too flashy. Skoda tend to keep their design language familiar for a longer period and attract a more conservative, money conscious buyer who wants bang for their buck. The cars look good and have plenty of extras but lack some of the techy stuff you get lower down the range in a VW. Cupra is definitely chasing the mid life crisis dad market. 😂

I prefer the classic interior of Skoda than minimalist Tesla one’s. A the look of skoda is nicer. But I like the Tesla Space, roof and performance. And à big point is the tesla chargers network. Here in Spain there’s not a good charger network. Only a few ionity chargers and the teslas one. All others are of 50kWh with no warranty it’ll work when you plug-in. So if you want to travel with an electric car the Best solution is to have à tesla while tesla will not open all its network to every car.

Now as MY LR dropped from 62k to 54k and now it enters on 5.000 to 7.000€ government’s help I’m almost décider to place an order. The only Thing is to order an MY LR with « helps » you can’t take it with an option. No color than white or black, no wheel, no white interior,… So it’s MY SR+ with 300km and options Or a basic white MY LR but with 400km, 4WD,…

I’ve chosen the Enyaq, I think Tesla let the market with its Tech over the last 10 years but now many manufacturers have caught up even Kia and Hyundai have similar range and tech, you can’t ignore the pedigree of building quality cars that Skoda (Vw Audi Group) have which I felt Tesla was just a bit too cheaply made.

I had the Enyaq, and I sold it after 9 months. The app is HORRIBLE. The software is really bad also, slow and unfinished. The GPS is a joke. I had it in for service 8 times. The range is a joke also, we lost 60 percent of the capacity in winter, and since you should charge it to 90 percent the range is almost nothing. Now I have the Model Y and it is just so much better! It makes the Enyaq feel like a 10 year old car.

Thanks for the comment and great to hear from actual owners. Don't get many owners who had both! Sorry to hear you had a poor experience with the ŠKODA but glad you're happy with the Tesla. Had you considered the Tesla at the start or was the Y not out at that stage?

@@NevoEVReviewIreland glad to be able to help. I got the Enyaq because in my mind at the time you could not find more EV for the money. I got it for 52 000 euros and got 7 000 euros back from the government. I was always in favour of Tesla but I couldn't at the time justify the higher price. After having the Enyaq and getting the feel of EV I realized that the Tesla premium is what I have to pay to get an EV that works as I want. I had among other things massvie issues with the Enyaqs heatpump that vibrated at winter in the entire car. They changed 4 pumps and still had the same issue. Also all Enyaqs came with beta software, V 0.795 or 0.792. Skoda promised to fix it since it was garbage at some places. We were promised an update withing two months for over a year and nothing came out of it. At the end Skoda told us that "we are looking into the possibility of updating older Enyaqs in the future but right now we are only updating new cars from the factory". So they find our 4 months old car as old. I will never buy a car from the VW group again and people should know that the Enyaq is a polished turd.

@@mr.wizeguy8995 My Model Y have had zero issues this far (had it for 5 months now). A truly amazing car in most aspects, and so much better than any EV from the VW group. Decades ahead of my Skoda Enyaq.

@@NevoEVReviewIreland I have cupra born ordered, but next choice would be enyaq sportline. I think the competition are catching up with tesla plus i think tesla design is getting a bit dated. One thing i like about tesla vs vw group is the smooth infotainment interface vs laggy vw software

Tesla is the worst car in the world. I drove a brand new one for 3 months, I could hardly wait to return it. Nothing is fine with these cars. Awful interior quality, awful sensors, windshield wipers turned on in a dry weather randomly, the rubber on the side windows started squeaking like it's a 15 yo car. The worst headlights possible, illuminate the road like a zebra, not good spread of the light. And many other problems, which I can't find the time to write about. Tesla never again!
