A short video on an oil + filter change on a 2020 Octavia 1.0. Hopefully help someone out even if it is just to see what is involved

Nice explanation! But I think I would never spray brake cleaner IN the engine like you do. Clean it with a cloth or paper and after mounting the new filter you can use as much brake cleaner as you like to clean it.

No brake cleaner was sprayed into the engine and even if it was it Makes no difference as brake cleaner evaporates 😉

Hi. Nice and useful video. I have an Audi A3 1.0 TFSI 2017 without GPF that uses 504/507 oil (5w30 or 0w30), but as I know, for engines with DPF (after 2018) you are suposed to use 508/509 oil, so a 0w20 one; it is not applying to your model? I have made oil changes at dealership and at every change they are also change the 3 screws with blue seal (I don't know why), and the oil plug. Could you reuse without any problem those 3 screws? Thanks!

Depends what country you are in but in the UK the recommended oil for petrol is 504, 502, 508, ACEA A3/ACEA B4 or API SN/M and for diesel models 507, ACEA C3 or API CJ-4 Hope this helps

Neither a TSI or TFSI engine would have a DPF as they are petrol engines and only diesel engines would have a DPF.

My Skoda dealer puts in 0W20.

Ye that’s fine as it will meet the dealer / engines spec

It depends on the engine. Up to around 2019 504.00 was the spec but after that it changed to 508.00

Nice one Andy. What's your opinion on these wee VAG engines? You can hear the valvetrain quite a bit!

They sound horrible but they do seem to pull quite well and they are easily maintained as there is plenty of accessible space in and around the engine. Octavia and Superb are easily the best cars around and have been for some time in my opinion. You thinking of getting one? Andy👨🏼‍🔧

I'm thinking of getting a 2018 Skoda octavia estate 1.0 tsi SE with only 42,000 miles. Are these engines really reliable and cheap to maintain?

hi, how much oil did you use ? 4 liter or 4.3 liter ?

I can’t remember the exact amount but that is what the dipstick is for. It will also tell you the capacity in the owners manual Andy👨🏼‍🔧

Great video sir! How much oil does this 1.0 tsi engine take, all the 5 liters on that oil bottle or maybe less? And does it matter if it's the 95 hp or 115hp 1.0 tsi engine? I just bought me a fabia with a 95hp 1.0 tsi engine and considering to DIY the up coming oil change myself. Thanks again for the great video sir!

I can’t remember how much it took. It wasn’t the full 5L though. I did a Fabia last week and it only took 4L. The information will be in your handbook though Andy👨🏼‍🔧

I changed the oil in my Octavia 1.0 tsi 115hp today and 3.75 litres took it to the top of the hatched part of the dipstick. Great video btw, was very helpful.
