The BEM is made up of 11 character part number, 3 character manufacturer code and 10 digit serial number. The other detail required is the battery type and the Ah rating. The BEM code is only used to track the battery and changing this value indicates a new battery has been installed. The important detail is the battery type and Ah rating to allow the software to manage the battery charging.

Having a little problem at moment.. I had the abs and ars light on the dash.. reader arrived plugged it in. Carried out a scan found faults so I erased the faults which turned the light off..its now back on but won't turn off. Any ideas why

@@woodyforest7308 ok if you have cleared codes and they have come back I would suggest there is a problem that needs addressing.. what codes have you got on the reader??? Could possibly be a abs wheel sensor ..

you should have used fleece for standard AGM as an AGM battery is not AGM Binary which is bipolar

I think as long as you put a code I and the amp rating it will know its been changed... I never had a full code number I just put wat I had charged the rating and no problems with it ... its now 2024 so it's been a while

I have an ACDelco battery, but it is not listed in the batteries. It's 95 ah. Is there anyway I could register one of the other batteries that has 95 ah? Thanks

To be honest I'm not sure I would try .. as long as you set the ah and the type and change the battery number .. I seen some guys have just put in 123456789 .. as long as you change it and you have the ah and type in .. the car will know its been charged.. but if your really unsure I would seek expert advise .. this video is just how I did it I'm not a qualified mechanic.. hope you get it sorted 👍 👍👍👍

Hi, I needed to take my battery out for a 15 minutes and now I have problems with navi. I had also about 15 fault codes after plugging the battery back again (fault codes I could erase). Do I need to register battery again even it is the same one? I have also VD700. Thanks

To be honest I'm not sure I would of thought if the codes have cleared and not come back then you should be OK.. if your still having problems then try registering the battery again .. I'm not a mechanic so if your not sure seek professional advice..

@@Grahams-Grass Great video (which steered me into getting one of these buggers for myself), but I did notice a small oopsie - as long as the battery's made in Europe, the proper battery type's "Fleece" and not "Binary AGM" according to a myriad of comments at the Audi forums I tend to haunt. No one seems to have a bloody clue what's the technical difference in the charging curves between the two AGM types, though, only that there may be one and that the strange name's probably a mistranslation of a German term into Chinese, which got extra mangled back into English ;)

what if you installed battery that are not listed there? for example Interstate battery

I would check with the manufacturer if your unsure .. I've seen from other videos that if you get the type the ah ratings in and change the serial number should work.. I've seen some people just put 123456789 in as the serial . The car knows a change gas been made .... I'm not an expert or a mechanic the video is based on my experience... if your unsure seek professional advice or ask the manufacturer

If you have a battery it will have a serial number on it ... you definitely need to put the battery amp hours even if they are the same the car needs to know you have changed it.... if you follow what the scan tool asks for you should be ok ...

@@Andyfun2010 the code I used was the serial number off the bar code which had 12 numbers the scan tool will only take 10 so I just put in the first 10 numbers. And amp hour number rating and the battery type ... there is no other numbers on the battery ... did it 10 mounths ago and every thing is spot on. state of charge back to 100% .. hope that helps 👍
