OSV production values remain very high. One can watch hundreds of Skoda reviews but I suspect few will reference the Caron symbol on the brand script / lettering or provide allusions @20:56 to artist Eugene Delacroix. I believe Jonathan Crouch is not presenting in this video as is noted in the video summary section. Thanks for another great review.

Problem with Skoda now is they're no longer really the thinking man's brand of car. They are established and the prices show that. Too many things on the options list now and when you add it all up, it just feels like its the same as its German parent company's products. The overly touchy touch screen was a fail imo as well. "I want AC controls embedded in touch screens"... said no one ever.
@johncarden89854 жыл бұрын
I agree. I have a 2019 version. The AC / ventilation is the non-driving control that you use the most. The previous version has easy-to-find and undertand rotary controls with integral push buttons. I would say it's not safe to effectively operate an iPad with your left hand whilst driving.
@quietenglishman41794 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more. I have a 2008 1.6 and it's a simple, well screwed together, affordable car with multi-link suspension. Now they're full of stuff no one really needs (or wants) which, of course, makes them too expensive. Just like the new Land Rover which is even more complicated I think the company has lost the plot. Most cars will be leased by folk who'll pay through the nose each month for the privilege and hand the car back after a couple of years. Not a realistic long-term prospect.

@@Jeroenneman Sorry, I was overstating things rather. There must be many people who want their cars to be full of things other than three pedals, a proper handbrake and a steering wheel. I just feel there should be a good, honest stripped down version of cars like the Octavia which are affordable and can make reliable long-term vehicles with fewer luxuries to fail. Interestingly, my fun car is an ancient and fairly basic Audi TT; the only things which have gone wrong are one of the heated seats and the tiny led computer screen. QED.

Call me a pedant, but I think it is "Octayvia", not "Octarvia". A trawl of various pronunciation sites confirmed this. "Octarvia" sounds posh, which the Octavia definitely isn't! I like the fact that I am not posing in one of the well known premium brands. The secret is that this car is just as good for engineering and internal quality and far more practical for space.

I can tell you it's absolute shit to drive. The chassis is loose like a boat and the throttlepedal has way too much travel and it's way too stiff. The DSG gearbox has no clue which gear to use if you actually try to drive the car unless you put it to sportmode. There's not much feedback through the steering wheel and the whole car wobbles around everywhere (also does not pass the moose test, dangerous, check teknikens värld test). The engines are really good and the brakes too, with good feel through the pedal. If only the chassis was any good, probably it is in the RS version. However DSG remains to be a shitbox still, a manual RS 2.0 TSI would probably be the best one to drive, the rest are outright dangerous due to the chassis being unsafe.
