The Octavia vRS iV will definitely be my next car in 2022 at some point (In Hyper Green) i love the Golf 7.5 GTE Advance i currently have, but really miss the extra interior space and boot space from my Octavia Mk3 when i had her.. Plus, my work commute is from one side of town to the other, and neither the diesel or petrol would get fully up to running temperature by the time i turned it off

I get that it’s not a full RS model and probably shouldn’t be called such, but it ticks a lot of boxes. Sometimes I do 100s of km in one day, but 95% of my days driving are 90km of commuting, mostly dual carriageway. So 95% of the time I want a comfortable economical commuter, 5% of the time I want a decently powered fun car. In that sense this is one of the least compromised cars I can think of

Ahhhh that's disappointing cos actually is a good looking car which you expect to refect in performance and handling, great review 👍

I actually did order that version of car because if you want a car that has some power for like sometimes, it is nice, it is like a family car with sporty look and little prrformance :) and i like that about this version, sure if you want to drive quicker you should go with petrol version only. But for family it its perfect :) sporty look, a little sound generetor inside which i like a lot, and nice trunk (450 L) sure it is smaller but still huge at same point :) and all the assistence system is good too :)

Massive interest in cars but am in a company car. Any chance of a video on what you think the tax rates for BIK will be in 2023, need to change in 2022 and will have it for 4yrs. Full electric vs hybrid co2 levels vs diesel on low mileage. Getting hammered on BIK at present. Be Passat. Love the videos 👌🏼
@NobbyOnCars3 жыл бұрын
The only safe bet for BIK of any kind is full EV. Even then, as soon as the cost between electric and ICE isn’t as big, I’d imagine incentives will be gone.
@davesmith26103 жыл бұрын
The new bik rates from 2023 still incentivize large mileage, in an electric or plug in hybrid of less than 59g/co2 you will need to do 54000km business to get the lowest 9% band ! Absolutely crazy
@shauncooper68463 жыл бұрын
Darren, I have just chose the 2.0 diesel 200 vrs front wheel drive for a company car myself, at moment they're on a 7 month lead time, the BIK is around £5k from memory, if you're in the 20% tax bracket the monthly tax payment is £172, 40% bracket and it sits at £343 a month

Great content as always Nobby. Most VAG group interiors look like they’ve gone in quality lately but this Octavia looks a step up inside. How does it compare to the MK8 Golf do you think?
@NobbyOnCars3 жыл бұрын
There's a few different textures going on which probably distract a bit more than in the Golf alright. I think the overall handling (even the standard vRS) of the GTI is better - a hatchback just suits the handling better but if you wanted the extra space, it's a no brainer.
@podge55553 жыл бұрын
The new Octavia has gas struts underneath the bonnet, the new Golf doesn’t. That’s a really good example of how skoda is surpassing Vw
@stevencampbell11503 жыл бұрын
Thing is whilst for motorway driving, the derv VRS would be my choice, the satnav hybrid thing is interesting but what was it like on the motorway allowing for keeping it in a full charge ie how far can you get on the battery on the motorway before the petrol engine kicks in and if so what is the economy like then?
@NobbyOnCars3 жыл бұрын
7-8L/100kms but the whole point is to buy this version so you can run it on EV I suppose.
@stevencampbell11503 жыл бұрын
@@NobbyOnCars true I was just wondering what the story would be from that perspective given that especially where plug in hybrid are concerned we get overinflated mpg of say 200 for example.

@@stevencampbell1150 I have a Golf GTE 7.5, and have done a couple of runs that are about 70-80 Miles on the Motorway, granted i set the ACC to 62mph or 64mph and was averaging just shy of 70mpg on the way to Dublin in Hybrid Mode, and then once i came off the Motorway it was back to Full E.V Mode and finish at about 75mpg

@@MrAndersie91 aye but y'see that's what I mean, I'm grateful for your response but having to drive at a slower pace tho'I should add I'm by no means a fast driver anyway is no good to me. It's bad enough when you're driving at the the legal speed limit and you have idiots tailgating you without having to drive slower because you're driving a phev or ev for that matter and need to save electricity.
@Boltzi3 ай бұрын
People do not get the point with this car. Claiming it's not RS and petrol is better. First of all, electric vehicle reacts immediately or at least faster than normal gasoline. The point of getting this in RS also is the sporty looks it provides and a more stiff body.
@NobbyOnCars3 ай бұрын
The point people are making is the added weight of the battery….

From personal experience, avoid paying money at least for the infotainment because it's crap (it restarts randomly which is not only anoying but also dangerous since I expirianced several times that it restarts during the parking where some of supporting tools which you expect to be working stopped working). If you add to this that Skodas customer support was crap. First Skoda partner in my home town made apperently 3 upgrades of the system which didn't do anything and after going to second service in another town, they "couldn't" support me since I already reported this issue on another Skoda partner. If you add to this that front parking sensors didn't work correctly and the first mentioned Skoda partner just told that they couldn't do anything about it without even taking a look at it, I was realy annoyed by the car - after serveral months I figured out that the registration plate frame (originaly installed by Skoda partner and not demaged in any way) was slightly bent which was causing the issues to the front parking sensors and the fix was easy but could and should be detected and fixed by Skoda partner. In general, IMHO nice looking and expensice car with failures on basics and crapy support!
