actually quite handsome - especially for a SKODA ... I am thinking to get a 2013 2.0l Automatic ... wonder whether need to worry abt the gearbox yet at 185.000 km...

@@CarandDrivingCarReviews After 5 months of ownership my Review to the car is this: After a bumpy start because of the a**hole the owner before me was, who didnt tell me about the defective engine, eating about 1 liter of oil every 1000km, what led to very very expensive repairs I really started to love the car. It drives quiete good on Roads aswell as Offroad, has plenty of space in front and back seats (what especially my friends liked) and the boot is big enaugh that you could call it a cargo bay. Fuel consumption of the 1.8 TSI is a bit high but that was expectable for me for geografical reasons. Hills and Mountains everywhere. If I would buy it agin now, I would never ever choose the 1.8 petrol engine again and go for the 2.0 Turbo Diesel because it needs much less fuel and would have saved me from the oil consumption drama, bcs that just appears on the 1.8 petrol engine. but after all, I love my new car and look forward to the adventures to come in (as I hope) many years of ownership

I heard that the 1.8 petrol engine with 160hp have oil problems...drinks a lot of oil...and that the 180hp options are better

Yeah, it’s a dud. I owned the 1.8tsi in an Octavia of the same era and died after 70k miles. Sent to the wreckers. Known issue with faulty piston rings, engine eats itself from the inside out. Shame really, great little car and engine otherwise.
I knew about the issue and found a professional workshop which rebuild my 1.8 engine and replaced the pistons with 3rd gen ones. Since then the car never failed me after 120k km and I am keeping it till the wheels fall off. It's a Volvo XC70 for the common ppl. Cheap and reliable.
