Another big underestimation! Everything is just bigger on a bus project and this was no different. We knew that we weren't going to use the built-in heaters on the bus. We are going to have a furnace and the built-in heaters were in the way of things like the fresh water tanks and water pump. So, a big tear-out day on Bussy McBusface.

Did the cat survive this process? Given that Anti Freeze is both very tasty and very poisonous to animals?

you know when you go to a new restaurant the first dollar they frame and put by the cash register...you should do something with that quart and mount. I like making fridge magnets just a magnet back and on the fridge. So cool the same year as the bus

Lol!! Why didn't you just cut the hoses off after you cut a hole in them first and drained the coolant into a pan? Then the lines would of been empty 😊 lol!! I see you like doing things the hard way lol!! Love your channels name 😉 Super cute!

Once again a very entertaining video! I have one of those vibrating cutoff tools if you want to borrow it, I think it would work to cut the screws off versus grinding. Call me if you need it. Great job and such a happy assistant.

Bussy McBusface some of the other school bus conversions I have watched were sorry they took out the defrosters because you have such a large window you need to have a lot of air movement. Some of them put the defroster back in.

My bus had one rear heater and I decided to keep it installed.
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 6 жыл бұрын
+Johnny Mullet we thought about it but we realized 3 things. 1) it only works if the engine is running which at idol takes a substantial amount of time to warm up enough to make heat which then makes it a very expensive form of heat. 2) we are installing a propane furnace which we can run while we are driving. 3) in the event we end up at an RV park, we can't run the engine for any real length of time or the wood stove (legality issues). So, the heater is out.

So I am on at least my third run through on this video play list. Love them, I notice this one has an issue with playing and thus far none of those before have issues. Likewise, the one after plays just fine. Not sure you will see this. Wanted to share it with you. Looking forward to your next installment. Be safe.

Hey man, really enjoying your channel. Is it possible to take just the back heater out and leave the front one, or is it not that simple? I'm going to be starting on my bus soon and plan to use your placement of the fresh water. Except I'm also going to try to throw the water heater under the bed too. Wondering if you thought that was a good idea also. Thanks in advance.
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 5 жыл бұрын
You could put the water heater under the bed but if your sink is far from the heater, you will waste a hit of water waiting on the hot water. That is why I put the water heater between the sink and the shower. Thanks for your kind comment!
@BussyMcBusface

As far as the heater, I think to could do that. I cant remember if they were part of the same line but if the were you could just bypass the rear heater.

Not sure why you would remove a heat source from the engine. Wouldn't you want to take advantage of that while driving around.

My bus is very similar to yours 89 bluebird, However my is the forward engine a puller I guess as they call it. But the heater is the same as yours did your bus have a tiny little Fan type radiator just behind the drivers seat? Also I did you have to deal with some hose work under the bus just under the front grill heater of the bus? One last question, I am to the point now where I am trying to get the drivers seat out, it seems like it is a 2 person job, how did you do it, any advice? I love your gusy vids I am learning a lot I am travelswithdave I am in Washington state. Working on m building my skoolie. Hope to hear from you when you have time. Thank you .
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 6 жыл бұрын
No radiator behind the seat. We did have to deal with hoses from rear to from but you won't because it is the engine that makes the heater work. The hoses actually ran inside the bus on the drive side. As far as the driver's seat, the people we got the bus from had already removed it so I don't have any words of wisdom there.

For the heater removal, did you leave the valve at the engine shut off or did you do some kind of loop with the hoses?
@BussyMcBusface

I shut the valves. I may add another radiator to the system to aid in cooling. We'll see.

I’m at this point also Do you have any video of your valves you shut, I could only find one, and I still lost almost 5 gallons of coolant from just the lines so I’m thinking I didn’t close the right valve... your videos are very helpful as I have the same pusher style bus...

How do you keep your bus warm when you are driving it
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 3 жыл бұрын
We can run both of the diesel heaters while we are driving. the only time that they couldn't keep up is when we were coming back from Colorado in sub freezing temperatures. If we weren't moving the heaters would have done just fine.

I don't know your situation but if you plan on driving it you will need a defroster at some point. I know there are other options but thoses will cost money and these heaters already came installed with the bus. Like I said your situation may be different but defrosters are nice to have.
