Great review, had been wanting to order one of these for the beach and finally ordered with the updated adjustable legs and burner. I have a Blackstone tailgater, but this will be easier to pack, easier to set up and easier to clean.

wow! nice demo! here's a suggestion tho... next time for your fried rice, if you have some ketchup packets, use abt 3 packets with your soysauce. it'll taste much better. :)

Thank you, Tomaso. We'll give the ketchup in the soy sauce a try some time.

Check out flask oil for seasoning cast iron and carbon steel

I believe you're not supposed to use olive oil because it will sour. I've always used vegetable oil on all my cast iron stuff. I could be wrong, always open to other peoples experiences. :)
@wobblyotteroutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, chphotovideo. Yep... you are correct. Looks like the leading oils for seasoning steel and cast iron for cooking are vegetable oil, canola oil, and flaxseed oil.
@ditndunk4 жыл бұрын
flaxseed oil is also a popular but can produce brittle seasoning prone to flaking - especially when applied in consecutive coats.

@@ditndunk figured out last month one of the best oils is coconut oil. Has worked amazing for us! Both seasoning and cooking.

Thank you, Dan. Ha, ha. Yep! I was fortunate to grow up with parents who loved the outdoors and knowledge. They shared all they could of both with me and for that I am eternally grateful. They never told me I couldn't achieve a goal. We were all equals, with different roles. Bill has an amazing spirit of exploration. I am blessed.

Hello!! I am a long time follower watching your videos, in fact I bought my smittybilt 2783 for your recommendations. I have several questions about this product: Is this product durable? I have a barbecue, would this replace the barbecue? On the other hand, do you know the roadshower? What water products do you use for showering, cooking, cleaning? Regards from Dominican Republic
@wobblyotteroutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Hello, Enmy. Thank you for being a long-time subscriber! I hope you are enjoying your roof top tent. SKOTTLE: Regarding your questions about the skottle. Yes, the Tembo Tusk Skottle is incredibly well made and durable. As far as replacing a BBQ with a skottle, I personally wouldn't. We prefer grilling food on an open grate. This allows greases to drip away from the food and when cooked over wood/lump charcoal the food has a nice, subtle smokey flavor. When cooking meals with smaller pieces or with sauces, we use a skillet or griddle over the fuel source because it's easier for us to carry/pack and easier to clean. That said, the skottle is loved by many, there are some who have mastered using it to cook a WIDE variety of things, and there is also now a smaller Skottle Junior. My advice is to take a look at how you use your current BBQ vs. the sorts of things you would cook on a skottle, to decide what might work best for you. WATER SETUP FOR SHOWERS & CLEANING: We have not used the Roadshower. We have made several videos about our shower/water setup as it has evolved and we recently tested another type of portable shower. Here are the subjects and links to some of those videos that I hope answer your questions. Our Boondocking Water System: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poXFp5aoqqimf9U The portable shower we use/like the most: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXqvapeGo7x8nJY A portable battery powered shower: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIDRiphjodKVeM0

nice but pricey compared to Cadac. Next time please use a plastic spatula; I'm cringing every time you touch the surface
@wobblyotteroutdoors5 жыл бұрын
So true on ot being pricey. Not familiar with the Cadac. Will check into it. I hear ya on the cringe. I have mixed feelings on the type of spatula topic. After this video I started using a wooden spatula because the metal spatula seemed to effect the surface. This confuses me. A cured steel cook surface should easily be able to hold up under the use of a metal spatula. The spatula used in the video is identical to those used with steel woks... it's made for that. Go figure. ??
@garethlloyd53195 жыл бұрын
@@wobblyotteroutdoors Good point, wood a good compromise. Cadac are a South African company, invented the Skottel, very popular in South Africa, every family has one. Typically used for breakfast kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqTViGWFd9Rnaa8

It’s carbon steel. The metal spatula should not hurt it at all.

Nice, but 350 bucks is kinda steep. Going to wait for cheaper Chinese knock off.

Yes, they are expensive. We recently got a Camp Chef 30,000 BTU single burner stove and really like the versatilty it offers over the skottle. Plus, the Camp Chef is three times less expensive. We just posted a video comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKGYaKSlmJmKotk
