In 2006, at the height of dubstep's creativity, one-man production powerhouse Skream visited Melbourne to kick back on the Red Bull Music Academy couch. While there, he revealed the roots of his skanking riddims, and how this fascinating, raw and visceral sound came from a close-knit family of DJs and producers in South London, then took over the world.

I know exactly what skeamz saying i was there through these times &.Garage was jeans & shirts sophisticated music for the ladies & gents.....then fwd came with the sub bass music head banging dark vibe..... grime was hats & hoods.. at those times before dubstep was around they were callin it sublo music.... when producers were about like oris J zinc hype.when skream was in dubstep it was in good condition as soon as he left, the music wasnt consistent. i loved dubstep cos for me it was like an updated style of drum & bass but slowed down with a component of reggae sub bass..then they watered it down & gave it an electronic sound for the mainstream listeners .just like they did to grime......

Its cringe but funny and also mega cute watching him be so awkward with his mannerisms and answers, I think that's most people at like 20 anyway right. Its so fun to watch her find the right questions to ask him so that he slowly unravels more hah... awesome insight though

I listen to the music throughout Skreams music during this interview... And i was engaging.. The rest was gucked up. The interviewer was as thick as that interviwer that time with AFX. Insensitive and lacking any passion for the music. .. 0 out of 10 for the interviwer. But Skream points are the cosmos ❤

Weird how around 38 min when they're talking about his popularity in grime, he didn't mention his productions under Mr Keas, some of those riddims were loved by MC's got bare wheels back in the day

well, i discovered electronic music around the age of 8 or 9... i'm 38 now and i've kinda managed to make a living in, of and around that scene ever since i graduated from school back in 1997.

Gabriel whats wrong w/ deadmau5? first off joels neither house nor would i consider him techno, id call him an electronic music producer before anything else. the house & techno scenes in europe & even in the states are at some very important places within the culture these days, im glad skreams a part of that.
