I think its because Mango was different, way more predictable in this set than usual.

Mango would have been able to shine in that particular spot. Or he would have gotten a weak hit, or none because he reversed.

He was probably worried that Mang0 would get out of hitstun before he could land a sweet-spotted dolphin splash.

@trevordollinger656910 жыл бұрын
I don't think the first 2-3 matches commentary were hype enough, I mean i love frog and d1 but I felt it was a bit "too" analytic for Mango vs M2K losers finals
@trevordollinger656910 жыл бұрын
***** I know lol that's the joke
@xD1x10 жыл бұрын
I'm all about the hype, but we've heard from numerous players that gameplay analysis was lacking in the past. I think at this point I've come to the realization that no matter if I try to be too hype, or too analytical...I'll never please everyone. I'm still trying to find that right balance though. #KeepsTruckin
@trevordollinger656910 жыл бұрын
xD1x Honestly I really do appreciate your analytic commentary but that is better used on matches in winners and loser quarters between two high skill players, but not two top five players in losers finals or grand finals. Honestly I don't think anyone cares about analysis in grand finals or losers finals between these two because they have seen them play so many times that you've already analysed what they do, and it seems everyone already knows this. I just feel as if grand finals and losers finals are time to let loose and have a little fun, we had the rest of the streamed bracket matches to listen to analytic commentary. Don't take it hard, I mean you guys weren't able to even see feedback if the viewers were liking what you were doing because of shitty mlgtv. I think mlgtv should be a no-go next time and every time after, it'd look bad if you admitted it I understand D1 but I know you're reading this and you agree, hahahaha.
@Prodigial10 жыл бұрын
xD1x You're one of the best commentators for a reason. You, Prog, Wife, and Scar are my favs (need to see HMW take the mic again too for crazy hype). I would say be analytical in the neutral game and then when some awesome combo happens get hyped. I love your commentary regardless and you should know you do a great job. Can you guys get Twitch or some other service to stream next time though? I couldn't watch the games live and have had to look everything up on KZbin (which sucks b/c I can see in the videos who's in grand finals and know who's gonna win before the match starts).
@nakodares598210 жыл бұрын
xD1x Appreciate you're trying to find the right balance, it definitely does exist though. I think the main issue here was you and Prog seemed to be lacking a bit of chemistry... I think that's the main thing that helps getting an analytic commentary to sound hype and enjoyable. It's why I like watching you and TK, you get a mix of hype and formality (as long as TK doesn't get a bit too hype lol)
@manLiMarth10 жыл бұрын
I think this tandem works best when D1 is doing the play-by-play and Prog does the colour commentary (no pun/racism intended). Many professional announcers use this strategy, especially in hockey, and it works very well. I think they do this naturally, but if they were to do this quite consciously I think it would be even better.
@RidingLines9 жыл бұрын
Can anyone explain what D1 was talking about at 4:55 regarding "port priority" when mang0 ledge hogged M2K? I assume he must mean controller ports, but does your port placement influence your priority in such situations during the match?
@heatherdurrans17849 жыл бұрын
Gavin McMillan it does if things happen on the same frame, such as if two characters were grabbing each other on the same frame. The player with the lowest port receives the grab. It's unfair, but that's how it is.
@RidingLines9 жыл бұрын
Heather Durrans I guess it has to be decided somehow. That's interesting, thanks.

@Trance_Kitsune10 жыл бұрын
I noticed the same thing and would like to know myself. He seemed very irritated/unfriendly about D1's commentary. It slightly reminded me of some of Papa Paint's remarks during the commentary at Civil War 6.. Not very professional..
@MaestroCasts10 жыл бұрын
He's a pretty annoying commentator.
@iTelluWHHOT10 жыл бұрын
This was the end of a 2 day tourney, and they both put mad hours into commentary so he's obviously tired. Prog is a great commentator and really compliments D1's style
@0omitcho010 жыл бұрын
***** Johning for commentary, only in smash lol. I honestly don't think prog is very good, but D1 is great. Prog has a weird habit of trying to make eye contact with the person he's commentating with, instead of looking at the camera or at least near it to emulate talking to the audience. Don't take this as an insult to him or anything. I just think that if we're going for professionalism in smash streams, we should try and be similar to other professional commentators. It also seems a little bit awkward. Staring into your fellow commentators eyes while you're both trying to commentate a match. I also don't like that prog kind of expects d1 to finish his sentences, it just seems a bit too in the moment and not d1 seems to be kind of phased by it a lot of the time.
@MaestroCasts10 жыл бұрын
Prog is a little pretentious, a little cheesy, not very natural, and doesn't have a very good voice. D1 I don't think of as particularly special, but he at least comes off as just letting his personality flow naturally.

We should have PAL Fox. NTSC Fox's up-B is just a tad too ridiculous.
@ERGTDK9 жыл бұрын
TheCanon66 Oh yeah. It's the UP-B that makes him good Kappa
@deandix56549 жыл бұрын
ERGTDK It's not the Up-B that makes him good, but it's what puts him above Falco. Sure, shine is ridiculous and so are U-Smash/U-Air kills, but then again Falco can get even easier, longer, and more reliable kills off of shine, and Falco doesn't get hurt by counterpicks as much as Fox, being able to take more advantage of FD against Marth than Fox. The only thing that is really terrible about Falco is his recovery.
@deandix56549 жыл бұрын
Dean Dix I'm aware that that's the PM approach to things: nerf the good things, don't buff the less good ones lol. We should really just give Falco Fox's NTSC Up-B
