Chase, I swear you are a god at editing. In regards to Snell approval I think people expect it because of the price tag. My helmet is Snell approved (Shoei RF-1200 Valkyrie) and it's simply just a different style of testing. Snell looks more at sharper impacts like hitting the edge of a street sign rather than hitting the ground. If it's Snell approved it's DOT approved, but very few helmets get the Snell approval outside of MotoGP helmets.

1. Never trust a guy wearing two watches. 2. Battery life isn't as advertised. 3. Tech changes to quickly so I would be afraid that it would be out dated quickly. 4. Software is easily updated but hardware is not. I wish someone would come out with a standalone product that could be put in helmets. Also, when you show the first person view of inside the helmet it looks fake. Is it real or did you create that with motion graphics? If it is real why is the rearview display crooked?

Love how you try to justify the price with combining off the shelve components and then um, still 500$ short, well that's profit then. Because the helmet, the bluetooth widget and the GPS are all priced for charity. Anyway, i hope lots of suckers pay that much so that the next generation gets more affordable. It's a great tech concept but way too early for me, just looks at those ghetto LED fittings, they look like proper DIY.

For someone like me that occasionally has neck pain from an old injury as I turn my head to see behind me, this helmet would be awesome. I REALLY liked being able to see behind you while looking straight! One thing I'd love to see in a future version is being able to add memory for recording off the rear camera. Also, an alternate to being able to see behind you in that view screen might be having navigation show in that window so you can see where you need to go without having to look at a phone. My brain is bursting with so many ideas of the future potential of this helmet! Fantastic idea. Someone is going to be extremely lucky to have this. Me and my neck are jealous.

EnKay Moto yes, it does suck. But it's due to the foam inside. It stiffens and doesn't do it's job. I mean, I can't say you have to. If's on you. What do you decide your head's worth? Besides, I think Chase said there was some kind of cost recouping... I don't remember exactly. And I'm sure skully will continue to evolve the helmet through the years. 3K over 10 years isn't that bad, assuming you don't have a penchant for crashing. I think your insurance can cover gear as well. Look into that.

Charging on the go from 0% battery could depend on how quickly the helmet drains battery versus how fast your charger supplies power. Different chargers/battery packs use different amperage and voltage to supply power to the helmet. The best way to check this would be to compare it to the regular charger's specs (probably something like 5V and 2.1A) to the battery pack you're using. If they match and you still can't turn it on right away, that might just be how it was designed, but it's worth looking into. Otherwise, this is the second video of yours I've watched and I'm really impressed with the editing and quality of the review. I'll be checking out the rest of your videos now! Hope they're all this good.

Don't charge and use the helmet at the same time. You will 100% reduce the life of the battery incredibly fast. The helmet uses a LiPo battery which doesn't like being held at its full voltage (~4.2v). If you were to "float" the battery at at 3.9v-4.05v, then you could keep it plugged in, but the AR-1 circuitry most likely does not do this since it is most likely just charging. Thats why they say don't charge and use. It really doesn't have much to do with the dangling wires although that mist likely isn't good either. Source: I'm an Electrical Engineering student at Clarkson University. Ride positively!
@sopwithpuppy8 жыл бұрын
"Trickle charging" of rechargeable batteries does indeed lessen its life. I would suggest charging when you get home (only JUST until full charge - don't charge it overnight) and again when you get to your destination. Most rides are not going to be in excess of 6 hours (hell an hour or two on a sports bike is enough to hurt like blazes). If you ARE going for a long ride, sure... trickle charge on those very few occasions (towards the end of your ride when the battery is getting low, not just as you set out) and it won't affect the battery life too much. As an Electrical Engineering student, Evan knows that ALL rechargeable batteries NEED to be fully drained every now and then to prolong their life. Kids these days are on the mobile phones checking Facebook, twitter and playing games, then charging them up overnight, using them constantly through the day, and wonder why their battery life is low.

Photochromatic visors were first used in Bell and Shoei helmets. Which still are the only two brands you can go out and buy with transitional visors. The shoei one does cost a lot over $100 but yes guys it takes literally not even 20 seconds for it to adjust to light. They are well worth it but do not go as dark as a smoked visor. They go just a tad bit darker than a Chrome or Iridium visor.
