Funny thing is that from what I understood, the P-40 wasn't even that great warbird back in the day and the A6M Zero, for instance, could match it if not surpass it in performance any day...so probably a P-47, a P-51, P-38 or even the Corsair would have been some better technical choices for the movie. Nevertheless, the P-40 had the characteristic shark mouth painted on it, so I guess this made it enough badass for the movie 😁 Great film and great plane, though 💪

Yeah, I hear you... Hollywood just loves it when we check our brains out at the counter after getting our tickets. Yeah, I know, for you folks that will call me out on this, but there's only so much suspension of disbelief that can realisticaly be expected. The great films can straddle that line, lesser ones cannot, leaving us thinking of more of the preposterousness, instead of the movie. Birds and bats, after many, many millions of years of evolution, (weighing mere ounces in many cases) have unlocked the secrets of flight. Looks cool, but dopey airplanes weighing thousands of pounds, flapping their wings, could never acheive this.
