That’s an expensive set up you have so dont blame you for sticking with your set up. I have an old 42 inch Phillips flat screen 720 pi tv running a sky HD plus box so my system needs updating as tv last couple of years has a habit of making a high pitched buzzing sound when first started up when I get home from work. My tv doesn’t even have bbc iPlayer on it so I spend lots of time watching box sets via sky go and sky iPlayer and watching you tube via my iPad Pro which is plain daft I need a new tv. I like idea of sky glass but a little under impressed with tech specs its not 120 hz and not OLED which given price of some of the packages if you have sports and movies and ultra hd added going to be close to 90 quid so that content alone deserves the best screen I feel. I would like a Q box but that requires a different tv to my old one. This feels like affordable compromise so I registered interest ………seems very popular given fact they only selling to diamond and platinum sky users so far. Im definitely jealous of your set up but given price too rich for me. I checked John Lewis website and they have nice LG 55 inch tv for 1299 plus price of speakers then 99 quid for Q box set up (that I wouldn’t even own…..although I guess that doesn’t matter much)

It's like they tried to play catchup to Apple TV and tripped 50 times on the way. Personally Sky Glass should have been sky's name for IPTV and just delivered as an app that you can use on any telly of your choice.

@@jamesinbradford5882 Yes we did read it, it’s cloud based recording. But in the ‘very’ sketchy pre-release information which Sky wasn’t telling folk is you are pretty much at the mercy of terrestrial providers doing their bit to get their content into their cloud based services in a timely manner, BBC are by far the worst as their stuff sometimes gets onto iPlayer within the hour, most of it is much later, but some of it is not until next day. It’s very much okay to stream live, it’s okay to restart if you press the coloured button on the top right and select restart. But Sky are not in the clear, their streaming performance stutters and buffers, something which is not apparent on Netflix, Prime Video or KZbin. It’s just Sky, the American GP last Sunday on Sky Sports HD was unwatchable so was Ultra HD through the pucks, switched over to Sky Go on the iMac and connected that to Sky Glass on HDMI and it was perfect, which says to me if the Netflix, Amazon Prime and KZbin Apps work perfectly on Glass yet the Sky Channels have issues, then the problem is with Sky and whoever they are hosting their Glass services from, it’s something they need to resolve quickly, because if you look on Sky’s Official Community Forums folk are deserting Glass in their droves. Because you only have 31 days before you get locked in, and there is absolutely no promise coming from Sky when they will fix these issues. I’m not saying glass is bad, it will be a great product, but only when they fix it’s issues. Me personally it came rushed to market as an unfinished product and Sky are expecting full paying subscribers to beta test a partially complete product. I’m sorry that is not on and Sky deserve every bit of flack they get. For now I’m going back to Sky Q, not saying I won’t revisit Glass in the future, but not in it current form.

Sky glass is absolutely terrible £1300 and sky ripped up my agreement as I’m Muslim and made me pay in one week they accused me of being an extremist because I changed my name , Cassius clay 🥊 changed his name , ignorant small minded bunch of bigots and for this much I could of got an OLED and for gaming it’s terrible , the volume control never worked right the software is terrible and the picture is bad and theHDR on the hdmi doesn’t work and the input lag is terrible it’s just so bad in every way except maybe the speakers and sound , oh and it developed light blees after four weeks

The playlist function is very clunky especially with Terrestrial channels… just get thrown into the ITV hub etc, which is a car crash. Very poor… if you’ve already got Sky Q, this is a major downgrade, so don’t do it! Ours is being returned after a week.

It does have an aerial socket, so if you have a terrestrial aerial it will default to terrestrial broadcasts over Freeview if the broadband goes down. But there is no guide, it’s just very basic. So there is something, but it’s not brilliant, I think this is something Sky need to take a look at, but commercially I don’t believe they have an viable interest, it serves its purpose in its most basic form.

There is also the sky puck which is about the size of the Apple TV so you can plug that into any tv but it only works with the sky glass tv. My original idea was to get the 43" tv and 2 pucks so I get UHD upstairs and down and stick 43" one in my bedroom but some people are reporting a few issues so I’ll wait until they’re fixed. Sky Q did also have problems so I expect sky will eventually get everything sorted. People have said PQ is better than expected. Definitely don’t judge it on the one in store. They’ve also commented on how good the sound is. The thing to bare in mind is the tv is more for your average joe who can’t afford the more expensive ones.

It froze due to the Internet in the shopping centre. Remember there is a minimum speed required so consider this before purchasing . This has been common when demonstrating the product in the shopping centres unfortunately

Yes you can hook up a console,but it will only do 4k 60hz,so can't take full advantage of what the PS5 or Xbox Series X can do. But 4K 60 does still look good

Try playing a movie on glass, the subwoofer struggles, you can it rattle as if something is loose, and the sound from it makes a popping sound at about 60-70% volume. And that streaming issue you had is common and nothing to do with ISP speed. It’s what happens, regularly. It’s a good idea in principle, but in reality it’s come to market with very little testing and needs another year of development and updates to improve it.

The bit you forgot to mention is that Sky Glass and the PUKs have limited channels compared to SKYQ. Also the PUKs in the other rooms cannot access any recordings - this is a true streamer - you want to watch something you missed its all streaming only. The TV is a lower middle range Samsung TV so monthly payment is the only real plus point.

BT don't give you the very best speeds. I used to be a BT customer with 70mb connection. Switched to Vodafone and get the full 80mb. If you do some research you will see why BT doesn't give you the very best speeds by default.

Yes it can be used as a normal TV,and it can be purchased outright from day one. As far as the Sky branding goes,i'm not too sure about that.I only had a short amount of time with the TV whilst the Mrs and daughter were shopping in Primark lol

Why do people think this is new?, PANASONIC DID IT FIRST, they were the first to do this all in one sound system with the GZ2000 way back in 2019 and HZ2000 in 2020 with upward firing and front facing And then with the JZ2000 for 2021 they added SIDE firing speakers, and this TV is just a Phillips TV with sky inside

Unless you have a very reliable ultra fast broadband package which is expensive in itself you will get buffering which will interfere with your service on a regular basis. That's why BT TV failed.

I think that now SKY have announced the Puck only option without having to buy the TV it will die a death as it's already out of date for a very average quality panel. There's no way you would pay full whack for this now, it's almost a year old, let alone be tied into a 4 year finance contract for a TV that in 4 years time when you finally own it would be worth less than £100! Plug the SKY Glass puck into any 55 inch £800 panel now and it would be instantly better than this! The other question now would be, who would pay for a puck with Sky Glass services when even Netflix are struggling in this market now? I just don't see how they can offer a competetive price for a stand alone SKY streaming service.
