This is going to happen in Diamond Bar, too. They built houses on hillsides that were previously open land. Used to be that there were houses on only one side of the street where I’m living but they shoehorned new houses in, all over the hillsides. There have already been smaller landslides.

This area used to be a landfill. Look up Palos Verdes Landfill and it is located right where this is happening.

The warning signs were clear... (5:31 to 5:36) both of these houses had recently replaced all or part of their cracked driveways.

It's a consequence of building on unstable coastal cliff and hillsides. California has all kinds of beachfront property on land that is unstable under certain circumstances. Another example, in the U.S., would be the totality of the city of New Orleans being built below sea level behind a levee. Remember Katrina?

i remember houses falling slowly onto the beach near torrance beach and malaga cove back in the 60s not too far from here. the west coast is on a plate that keeps moving down towards the ocean

I was looking at Google Maps for this street while watching this. It appears some of these houses are right at the edge of the drop-off into the canyon, so it's not surprising that any shifting of the land would cause a lot of damage. For example, it looks as if there was a big drop at the SE corner of house #4 (address) seen at 4:10.

That's what happens to people who insist on living on the edge without doing their due diligence & not using a reputable geologist firm to do a thorough land research on the property and its surrounding area before closing the deal.

Landslides like this should be easy for engineers to predict if they're doing their job honestly! But, of course, it's never in the developers interest to be honest and forthcoming about risks to the buyers. And the local governing entities, who are often connected to the developers, normally just rubber stamp these projects for their buddies. They're all basically grabbing the money and leaving the timing of the impending certain disaster in: "the hands of God"!

Where is Lucy Jones? This is more than a leaking pipe. The North American Craton is shifting east and CA is on the edge of it. This is reminiscent of the movie 2012 and the crustal displacement that occurred. If I were a CA resident and lived on a hillside I would get geologists out at my home now. Too much happening with zero explanation!

The California insurance code does not include subsidence! California is an all inclusive state, meaning if its not mentioned in the insurance contracts you have with your insurance company its still covered ! BUT SUBSIDENCE IS NOT COVERED the insurance companies had it taken out !
