A Kubrick masterpiece--i still won't watch it alone or at night, especially. AMAZING. Well done in orchestrating all the chords and crescendos of the emotion from John Murphy's song into the Shining clips. Everything was smoothly done and you deserve credit on having done a phenomenal piece of editing

The movie is technically superior to the mini-series, and taken by itself, it's a masterpiece of horror cinema. As a Stephen King adaptation however, it is horribly inaccurate to the novel's themes, its characters, and its ending is completely changed, promting Stephen King to disavow it completely. If you're a fan of horror movies, you'll love it. If you're a Stephen King fan, probably not. If you're both, then you'll take both for what they are.

Going from the book, (never seen the movie all the way through) the ghosts are real, and kinda absorb whoever falls under their spell into the house. so it's like the person's soul or identity gets assimilated and becomes part for the hotel for all time... including the past too.
