I played music at a New Year's Eve 2 years ago and a guest asked for a song and said to me, you definitely don't have that. He told me the artist and I entered it into my DJ program and the guest saw that I had over 30 songs by that artist. He wanted Peter Frampton and he said, this is the song - Show me the way. He had tears in his eyes because I had the artist. At 4:00 a.m. I played the last song. I had taken down my DJ system and this guest came up to me, hugged me and said, you are the "best DJ". When he said that, the guest was close to tears.

I'm 71 years old and I just submitted to your channel. I love the live performances from Midnight Special. Where I live in Fresno, California Midnight Special aired on Friday nights. I was in high school then and I would go to my girlfriend's house and just like you said grab a Pepsi and some popcorn and chips and watch the show. I remember watching this of Peter Frampton. You bring back a lot of great memories for me. Takes me back to my youth. I have a request. Could you please react to Midnigt Special with the band called FOCUS and their song HOCUS POCUS. Had the great fortune of seeing Frampton 3 times, twice at the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ during his Frampton Comes Alive tour (a great great live album), and once when he was with Humble Pie. Fantastic shows all of them.

Peter lives in Nashville still I think ,,,He was in the band Humble Pie for a good while and then went solo and made really good albums that were very much ignored by the masses but that Frampton Comes Alive album put him ahead of the class and it still holds the record of the most live albums sold category ...I broke out my lp copy of his album ''''Im In You'''' last night and really enjoyed it.. I remember back in the day watching The Midnight Special but somehow I missed this one. This album was a HUGE HIT. It got almost constant airplay on the radio stations in the San Francisco By area. He was using a "Talk Box". He did not invent the Talk Box nor was he the first to use it. That said he may be the most memorable performer to use it. Great reaction..... Take care.....

Peter was pre Metal and many rock bands have copied his artistry and guitar! One of the greatest solos and Peter should be in the top 25 guitarists!

I vaguely remember watching this when it aired back then. This, and Burt Sugarman's Rock Concert, was my generations MTV. The Midnight Special had a lot of great bands on it, Heart, Journey, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and many others.

Peter is indeed still with us at 74. He'll pop up for a one off performance every once in a while, however, he retired from touring because he received a diagnosis of inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder characterised by muscle inflammation, weakness, and atrophy (wasting).

Actually, he just did a "Positively Thankful" tour. He had said he was waiting for a new trial drug to come out, which did, & seems to be slowing the progress so he was able to do this recent tour ❤👍. And...finally, the man was just inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ( I know, crap organization, but way past due is putting it mildly.) It was so cool, Roger Daltrey did the induction & Peter stood at the podium & said "kindness is king". I love you Peter❣❣❣

In the mid 70s(I was 13 😎) we all knew who Peter Frampton was because of his album "Frampton Comes Alive". And The Midnight Special came on Saturday night after Saturday Night Love (1am). What was special is all the performances were done live unlike other shows like American Bandstand and Soul Train which lip synced to a recorded track. Great reaction beautiful ❤

Peter Frampton was one of those rare artists that, for the most part, sounded better live vs studio recordings. Very underrated guitarist. He does a great version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Midnight Special and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert were for a lot of us, the only way we would/could see some of our favorite artist.

Two from The Midnight Special that are absolutely ''mandatory'' (😁) are "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac and "Fooled Around and Fell in Love'' by Elvin Bishop. Another live song, not from The Midnight Special, but inarguably one of the top performances ever recorded is Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing'' from Alchemy Live. Be well.

Peter Frampton was a guitarist that used to play for the band, Humble Pie, before he went solo. Humble Pie is probably best know for their vocalist, Steve Marriot.
