I enjoyed hearing the conversation with the CEO of Skydio. My only concern is that he did not show any interest in the everyday consumer who uses drone on the regular basis. His response to questions was always back to law enforcement and fire departments benefiting. I want to try their drones, but they do not sell to consumers. The bottom line is this, they are trying to take the market from DJI. He admitted that "DJI, has gotten a big head start in the drone industry. And they sell their product at a reasonable price and which Skydio is not willing to change. I do not believe that statement about " he wants to make consumer drones". I am not convinced or sold on Skydio yet I have flown DJI drones for 17 years as a home inspector. Unless Skydio is going to give me a free X10 for free to try out. I might change my mind. But for now, I am DJI for life.

Skydio is targeting the audience (LEO, Def, B2B) that will yeild the best return on their capital. Creating a product that has to be supported and sold mass market to consumers is not a simple task. Down the road, Skydio could feasibly become a B2C drone maker, but building that capability and have the capital to invest in that I am sure is at the bottom of their return on capital list.

I feel you bro Let’s be real if this was truly about national security, then the focus wouldn’t just be on DJI. Look at all the other products we use every day that are made in China cell phones, TVs, radios, GPS devices, walkie-talkies, and even cars built in Chinese factories. All of these could pose the same kind of “security risks” people claim DJI drones do. Yet, they’re everywhere in America, no questions asked. The truth is, this isn’t about protecting us it’s about money and market control. Companies like Skydio are leveraging politics to eliminate DJI because they can’t compete on quality or price. Instead of improving their products, they’re trying to manipulate the system to push DJI out, hurting thousands of small business owners in the process. Follow the money, and you’ll see it clearly: this isn’t about national security. It’s about greed and locking the market in their favor, regardless of how much damage it does to us. If you’re going to ban DJI over “security risks,” then be consistent. Ban all the other Chinese made tech we rely on daily. But they won’t do that, will they? Because it’s not really about security at all.

I fly for search and rescue. many of our missions are in wilderness areas without cell phone coverage. Drones are also used in areas where the communications infrastructure has been destroyed. Direct communications between the controller and the aircraft will always be needed. We don't need autonomous drones for most of what we need.

What is all this about github having evidence of DJI recording data? And is there a link to the reddit post mentioned?

"Can anyone provide credible evidence or supporting documentation to back the claim that DJI, a Chinese company, is collecting sensitive data and sharing it with the Chinese government? I have no objection to using American-made drones-in fact, I would prefer it. However, it’s worth noting that Skydio made a business decision to exit the consumer drone market, choosing to focus exclusively on UAVs for military and first responders. This was their strategic choice, not a reflection of consumer demand or competition. Let’s discuss these topics with facts and transparency."

the host keeps quoting "rumors" and unsubstantiated "facts". he is touching on subjects he obviously has not researched intensively. well done to Adam for not allowing his message to be distorted by an obviously ill=prepped interview. his team has to be more mindful of the platforms they place him on. it is important that his work is not distilled and reduced to/associated with "biased and hateful" rhetoric.

Thank you Paul and Adam! This is a fantastic interview and everyone really needs to hear this and fully understand it. There is so much innovation to celebrate originating from all the non-DJI drone companies in this industry. We all need to embrace and support these exciting advancements in technology coming from these very smart and wonderful people. These are “real” drones, and grow with your drone business over time instead of needing to buy the next fixed payload toy consumer models coming from DJI every year or two. Always invest in real tools, not single-source toys subject to bans, supply chain, support, and geofencing challenges.
