A cool thing I saw on a server once was, a deep, wide vertical shaft (like your "Tom", and etc.) going down with wind turbines sticking out from the walls into the center of the shafts. The idea was that it represented a thermal vent system with a heat source at the deep bottom. Turbines don't need to be outside -- they can be interior so long as there's free space around them.

Hi Skye. Love the series. Impressed by how well you are doing considering your first time playing. A few suggestions: 1. The roof of the observation deck would look good with a few antennas, satellite dishes, and some defenses. 2. The observation desk could be divided into three areas - center command (doors and ship management), left living area (keeps the views), and right base management (turns areas off and on). 3. You might benefit from a solar array - but before this, it would be useful to make a huge battery bank somewhere inside. 4. Your landing pad would look with a few guns for protection. That's it. Hope you and Picture have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes.

I'm not sure if its been updated, but for future reference when or if you are interested in exploring mods, this is a terrain tool mod. "Concrete Tool" in the workshop. It lets you use gravel to place concrete to so you can actually smooth out and fill in those areas you mine away. You ideally shouldn't do too many mods to begin with as a new player, but frankly this is a tool that I believe should be in the base game.

Some recommendations: - For welding the "build and repair" mod is perfect. - For mining there is an equivalent "miners" as I remember. - For the blast doors, from the blast door parts, you can build as big of a blast door, as you just like. I think, your current design is a bit overcomplicated. - You should put some search lights and automated turrets on the top of the observation level - As somebody mentioned, some guide lights should be also installed on the platform to mark edges and approach ways. - I would put the observation level running over to the side too, to have a 270° view around

Really cool videos - thumbs up! Some ideas with the blast doors in the ground: there are two other options. You can either replace the blast door blocks with triangle blocks to minimice the contact, or: cover the blast door blocks with armor plates - they don't collide much with the block on the piston ;-)

This was actually nice to see getting worked on. I love it! Would love to see that windowed area becoming a series of living spaces and maybe a spot above the windows on one side being a control center for air traffic/drones.

What might be kind of cool is you build the pistons of the upper hanger doors a little further up, and you make the pistons themselves a feature on the interior side of the observation room. Like some glass or I-Beams to cage up the pistons that work when the door open. Claim it's engineering, maybe rather than a light armour block, you use a pipe conveyer or something, maybe grind it down a tad so it's silver, and have them work away. It would especially work well if you had the gate do like an M or W shape rather than meeting in the middle. Shoot some smoke/fog out when you open the doors thanks to a little exhaust/timer block. Loving the base so far, great work!

@capdyn73516 күн бұрын
The doors retracting at the same time as the pistons move is actually really cool to look at rather than them happening sequentially! I actually think you could get away with upside down angled blocks instead of blast doors since clang only really happens when blocks drag alongside each other which a full block and an angle block won't do.

Tip of the Episode: Since a while back a lot of the sloped DLC blocks, have a more sensible collision box, this allows you to have a even smaller gaps in certain cases. Especially on small grid, you can for example make some really interesting crane arms, the are really close to some RL crane arms (i think telescope arm is the correct term for multiple hinges ¿). There a mods that show the collision boundaries (cool for later), but even with that, its often a case of practice to get a good feeling for it.

Your landing platform is getting a bit small now. The whole purpose of widening the blast doors was to accomodate bigger ships in the future. But your new viewing area, which is nice looking btw, is making the parking lot seem quite small. Especially if you have a control tower which is eating a few more tiles. How about one big landing pad in the center, maybe shaped and marked with red lines like a hexagon? So you could have one big ship sitting there and two smaller ones left and right?

Another way you could have done it is with hinges or rotors and blast door blocks to make a folding blast door along the lines of the Thunderbird 2 hangar.
@hyperforce16 күн бұрын
For your hangar doors, you can use a single piston, then on top of that put a row of blast door blocks along the length of the hangar door area. Then put hangar doors on top. On the left and right side of these blast door blocks, put merge blocks facing outward. When the hangar door is raised (in a closed position) you lock the merge blocks in place, making the hangar doors part of the main grid and locking them in place. Then they need to open, you can then unlock the merge blocks with a timer block on both left and right side of the hangar door, and then lower the piston to lower the entire row of hangar door blocks down into the trench. Neither hangar door blocks nor blast door blocks (if you pick the straight type) have collision on their front and back, only the merge block would need to be free from connections on its sides for this to work.
