I just bought this today when I was at WalMart. It was the only one left, hiding behind the other brands. I like the features and so far I'm pretty satisfied.

Good explanation! I bought a Dewalt 30amp bench battery charger with 80 amp engine start. Hope it works as well as Stanley. Price was $99 @ home depot.

Good review, but what I think is missing from these reviews to begin with is addressing the fact that this IS NOT PORTABLE. NEEDS TO BE PLUGGED IN! I just bought this and didn't know, so now I'm gonna have to change it for. Portable one. Good product. Thanks for the review.

Battery charges need to be plugged in. Battery jump boxes do not.

Good review. Do you have any more data on what voltage settings it uses for deep cycle batteries? You said it floats at 13.1(?), do you know what voltage it bulks at? I have seen this at my Walmart, and I like the amp display, wish it could show Amos and volts at the same time. Heck, I wish you could set the volts and amps:-) . Thanks for the video.
@skyfly519 жыл бұрын
I would think the voltage would be the same between cracking and deep cycle batteries. I believe it bulk charges in the mid to upper 14v. Maybe like 14.5-14.8

I just purchased this. I was trying to trickle charge a battery for my ridding lawn mower that was dead. I could not get it to read that the cables were attached to the battery. Just found out that if your battery is completely dead this charger will not detect it is attached and it will not charge. Sooo this won't work for me.
@wmc1284 жыл бұрын
You have to recondition the battery's lead plates first before you can charge it up normally.

That is a great charger until I accidentally hooked my unit backwards on some battery that was not color coded, it never buzzed, it just shorted out and went up on sparks and smoke, dead, done for.
@Vashtari9 жыл бұрын
does the unit have to be plugged in to do the charging or is it a portable charge?
@skyfly519 жыл бұрын
it has to be plugged into wall power

I just bought the 25-amp version and the fan still runs when under 3 amps. Not sure why they would do that.

I'm thinking there is a battery or capacitor inside the unit that charges up to then discharge like a jump-start when you need to jump a dead battery. Does that make sense?
@skyfly515 жыл бұрын
That's good thinking, but what it does is puts the battery under a high rate of charge for i think 90 seconds. Mine died quite some time ago so i forget exactly but i know it's charges at a super high rate
@justgivemethetruth5 жыл бұрын
@@skyfly51 If it puts the battery under a high rate of charge, why does it need to wait for 90 seconds or so before it gives you the go ahead to try to turn it over? I figured it was because it was charging the unit itself.
@skyfly515 жыл бұрын
@@justgivemethetruth it's charging your dead car battery in hopes it will start your car. Personally i prefer the old transformer style that could send 50 amps as you crank
@justgivemethetruth5 жыл бұрын
@@skyfly51 Again, why does it need to wait 90 seconds to do that? You mention transformer, and I am sure there needs to be a transformer to step the line voltage down to battery voltage, but you do not need to wait 90 seconds to do that. That must be done just to charge your car battery, so the waiting 90 seconds is taking time ... like the old camera flash chargers that used to have to charge up to fire off your own flash camera ... if you've ever had one of those. 90 seconds is to accumulate charge like a big battery to provide a jump-start current. That is why there are two modes of operation, charging and engine start. Last night when I used this for the first time, my battery was stone cold dead after sitting with the dome light on for a day or two. I let it charge for about 2 hours until the battery was registering something useful and then in the middle of the charging cycle I hit that Engine Start button. After 90 seconds the engine started right up. Anyway, I could be wrong, but that is my explanation for the facts as seen.

Hi. Isn't there a trickle feature on here too where it will charge slowly at about 3 amps or so? If so, how do you get it into that mode?
@skyfly515 жыл бұрын
it is completely computer-controlled so when you hit charge it could start out as high as 15 amps but it will go down as it needs to so when the battery is almost charged I'll go down to like 1:00 amp and then when the battery is finished charging it will go into a float mode

Great thanks!

by the way : if you have still good battery and you want to use this wanderful future BATTERY RECONDITION which this charger provide ... you will finish your battery once for good ..not to mention it will draw some energy from the grit doing that ... BATTERY RECONDITION = BATTERY KILLING

I got one from Menards a couple days ago as well. Mine has fingerprints everywhere on the front, smells burnt, and rusty handles. I got it boxed up and returning. I'm going with the Schumacher SC1281 from Walmart instead. $58 online, $79 in store (store will honor websites $$) The SC is a 30a with 100a start. twitter.com/Applejacks1971/status/1222626277926014978

@skyfly516 жыл бұрын
Bill Beverly depends what kind of batteries you charge and what your budget is. If all you charge is single cranking batteries, id go with the 15a. If you charge a lot of deep cycle batteries id go with the 25a version

There are many components to getting a good result. One place I discovered that successfully combines these is the Jons Mender Guide (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the best course that I have ever heard of. look at this unbelievable resource.
