Just an excellent flight & video. It has been a while since I watched a video of yours, and I must say that you narrating makes it much better. I wish I could get into fpv, in fact just being able to fly anything. But I live on a lot in a suburb, which would make launching and recovering a problem. Even for a quadcopter while I learn. And it just all seems so complicated. I envy you your beautiful property and so like the strip and building you have set up. I live about 3 miles from the gulf of mexico, and there is an island about 3 miles from shore. I used to go out there by boat, and I know there is a lot to see. In my younger days i flew a cessna over the island, and at an altitude of about 600 ft. I saw a big shark, just off shore near where I used to swim. My dream is to be able to sit in my house and watch the video from a quad or a plane on a large monitor, and look at the wildlife and the boaters. I still remember very well that video you made years ago with your daughter and son (maybe they were your sister and brother) watching one of your flights and they were so excited and happy. Anyway, thanks for this relaxing trip.

What a lovely flight to end 2021, and welcome 2022! Thanks Keith. ♥️👍👍 Glory, or "Pilot's Glory" at 10:44 (plane shadow centred in rainbow halo). FYI: cloud base is at a temperature, density change in the atmosphere. Above cloud base elevation, air will always be smoother, and wind speed, direction may differ vs. below. If wind below and above are at 90º, you might even be able to literally cloud surf, like flying a mountain ridge. (more common in summer when thermal activity give clouds more form) Regarding RSSI, wondering if you could switch to lower power output level for testing at range?

Great video as always. Just wish you would do a take of the plane or a picture before and after just so we can have a visual of the plane and not just the fpv cam.

My Vector RSSI didn’t start working until I reset it to factory then reflashed the firmware from the Vector website. I did not restore settings from a backup file. I started from scratch as if it was a new model. Only then did it began to work. I tried all the things you spoke about with no joy.

Nice to see the Vector beeing still in use. Unfortunately the Eagle Tree waypoint editor stoped working because of a Google API script error. Do you know if there's anything I can do to workaround that issue? Cheers

great flight as usual. Are you able to still use Waypoints already programmed? I tried to program some new waypoints but apparently Google Earth isn't compatible with Vector anymore

Sadly it seems that the Google API Key used in the Vector software has expired. Mine throws up errors all over the place when I use it... lol Personally I'd love to see them release an update that would allow us to insert our own key and use it, you can sign up for a free one. I doubt it will ever happen though. :( However, there is a workaround for waypoints! Any missions you had saved before should still work. You can even make new ones, though it's a little tedious to do. great video. on my skyhunter I'm using the same vtx same internal mic as you and I'm not getting any audio, I have the mic connected to the vector external audio servo connector and the vtx(signal,negative and positive ) also connected to the vector vtx servo connector. on the vector configurator I have the audio enabled am I missing something ? i really appreciate it if you could give me some advice . thanks

Do you also have the single white wire on the Audio Harness (labled "Tx Audio" connected to the audio input on your video transmitter? Check pages 17 and 18 of the manual here: www.eagletreesystems.com/Manuals/vector.pdf

@@bonafidepirate I'm so dumb . the rush mic only supports 5volts in and I had my cam/mic from the psu connected to the 12 volt option , I think that's the issue .

One day I will return to the skyhunter platform! Right now I just got a ZOHD drift. Getting a long range transmitter set up soon thanks to ELRS. Video will be the problem My microvector getting no use. I regret selling my skyhunter with the full version. Couldn’t get my nano talon to work properly with the microvector so thats trashed. Do you havea facebook group or anything?! I just saw the 1.8m skyhunter kit version for 99$ on getfpv, and thats going to DEF be my next project. Would love to talk to people about recommended motor/prop and stuff

Nope, before my last flight I'd reset the Vector to defaults and set it all up again from there, but rssi was still pegged at 100%. About the only thing left I know to try is flashing the Vector firmware again. As far as I can tell the Dragonlink receiver is putting RSSI in channel 12 which is how it's configured, and has been for ages... It's been so long now since I haven't been flying this plane much, but if I remember right I had updated the Vector to the last version of firmware they had released for it. Worst case maybe I'll fall back one version and see if it was something specific to that.

@@FLEARMOY Quick follow up, and thanks for the motivation to finally look more into this... lol Tonight I pulled the receiver out of the Skyhunter and connected it to an old FC with iNav on it, just so I could look at the SBUS output. I confirmed that it IS indeed putting RSSI on channel 12 as configured, and that RSSI is working there. So the issue is within the Vector. Next step is to start over with the Vector and flash the firmware, set up from scratch. Another clue, is that looking at the config backup for the Skyhunter, I see the values for "RSSIOn" and "RSSIOff" are both the same, "3820". Besides being the same value, they're too high to be considered normal even for the high value. For comparison, a different plane using the same config for RSSI was "1002" for On and "0" for Off. Those are what you'd expect to see (in uS) for the signal on channel 12. I'm not sure where the config got messed up on the Skyhunter, but I'll try running the wizard again after starting with a fresh firmware flash and see if it works then. Now, with all that said, I'm itching to put a Matek board in there while it's all torn apart... :D

Figured it out! lol So it might have been user error... Turns out I needed to change the receiver failsafe setting in order for the Vector to detect the RSSI values properly. I had it set to "no output" so it let the Vector take over everything in a failsafe condition. Previously, I had been using "normal", and using preset channel positions to trigger RTH and center the controls. With the receiver set for "normal" failsafe output the Vector detects RSSI and displays it as expected. With the receiver set to "no outputs" the RSSI isn't detected properly and gets stuck at 100% like it has been the last few times I've flown this one. I don't know if this has always been the case, or something change in a firmware update, but it's the first time I've ran into the issue. Once the RSSI is set up and working, changing the receiver failsafe back to "no outputs" doesn't break anything, and it all still works as expected. Either way, it's working now, so I'll fly it with the Vector some more before pulling the plug and putting it under the knife! lol

@@ForSure871 It was a proprietary system that's sadly no longer being made. You can still look through the manual here if you're curious - www.eagletreesystems.com/Manuals/vector.pdf People are still flying them, they pop up in the FB groups and on RCGroups classifieds occasionally.
