For me, this series is like junk food. Don't expect anything nutritious, just sit back and enjoy the comfort but you know there's better food for you afterwards. Still a nostalgic favorite for me since I played the games constantly as a kid (and still revisit them now).

I do think it should've gotten a season 4 but the show not being in line with canon and sometimes contradicting it would get confusing for people playing the games after or watching the show after without looking up if it were considered canon.

@@Supergirl-jj8gt That'd be nice, but really unlikely considering that there are no longer any Skylanders things being sold, and Activision is currently choosing to use Reignited Spyro in his games, and in Crash games. Skylanders could definitely go on without Spyro, but it most likely won't considering that toys to life games collectively ceased production because of oversaturation and fatigue by 2018.

I thought it was good! The premise felt very similar to Monsters University (the prequel to Monsters Inc. where Mike and Sully were college students learning to become scarers), and IMO the show gave a very interesting depiction of what the Skylanders were like when they were younger, and still learning to unlock their full potential and become the legendary heroes we know them as in the games!

The first 2 seasons, while flawed, are actually really good, the third season is not bad but have some REALLY stupid moments. I think this show deserves a B, is not a amazing show, specially compare to other Netflix shows like Black Borjaman, Carmen Sandiego or Castelvania just to give some exemples, but overall is good.

Even though I have a soft spot for the show, there are a few gripes I have with the series: Spyro (in his normal form) is usually annoying, at least for most of season 1. There's wasted potential when it comes to certain plot lines in the show. E.g. How about Spyro and Cynder swap their roles of mentor and student? The 'new' characters are surprisingly ignored most of the time and are not used to their fullest potential. However, I will note that the animation is nice, some of the character designs look better than their game counterparts and there was some interesting reinterpretations of characters that we had previously seen. Thankfully, the show ended on a decent note while leaving it open for a new season or short series. Hopefully, one day, we could get some answers about the cancelled 4th season. Maybe even get a picture of Spyro's parents?

Exactly my opinion, but I'd advocate for Spyro's character in the manner that he's fairly consistent throughout the entire show. A couple arcs here and there, just like with every other centralized character.

Ik it probably wasn't their intention, but they could have give the show an amazing storyline with the whole history of Skylands, based on the storyline of SSA or Giants. I'm just mad we'll never get a show like that and instead we got this, a mediocre series that is good but nothing special

I liked the series. I actually found out about on accident, and it was the greatest thing I ever discovered. Sure, it did have its flaws, but that’s what I thought made it so charming. The characters were all fun and interesting (Pop Fizz is still my favorite in both the games and the series), the storyline (while it did have room to improve) was creative, and I liked the fact that the creators fleshed out both the heroes and villains. And maybe with the right minds, creativity, and those who still hold both the games and series close to their hearts, they could remake it into something great!

The revelation this show drops that Eon is Kaos' father this entire time is massive. It's a shame that we never got a 7th game where they would delve more into the crossover lore with the show, and maybe in that game we could've gotten it confirmed in the main canon that he has been his father there too.

I like this show for what it is. It isn’t the best, it’s not the worst by any means. Spyro looks and sounds better and consistent other than when Dark Spyro appears and oddly sounds like Tom Kenny. ?.? Also Crash Bandicoot acts and sounds nothing like Crash Bandicoot! He does not plan out attacks! He eats and puts shiny things in his rectum!

I like this show but its confusing. The main skylander team all have their own superchargers, why did they just pick out random ones? Also why does a lot of core skylanders not have their weapon. Why is broccoli guy a doom raider. Why is stealth elf a lot more extroverted than anyone would expect, keyword STEALTH. I still like this show

The Legend of Korra Book 1, 3 and 4 > Skylanders Academy > The Legend of Korra Book 2 I think I would have liked Skylanders Academy if it had Count Moneybone and Captain Frightbeard as major villains other than Kaos and Doom Raiders, like at least as main villains for one or two episodes. Strykore is like Skylanders Academy counterpart of Hektore.

The 2nd Best Video Game cartoon ever! I say 2nd cause Castelvania's final season really, really blew me away. Also If you thought Spyro destroying his dark half was dark how about the fact that Spyro while possessed nearly murdered Stealth elf! Plus Spyro at S2's ending going rogue due to his belief that the man who raised him potentially murdered his entire family+his species was hella' heavy. They made the show after skylanders so the comunity would been kept alive. If the amount of watchers kept rising and shit it would give them a chanse to make some cash. But since the show got less watxhers each season. They were like fair enough no more new skylanders stuff in the future. Well atleast thats my theory but it does make sence if you ask me

Hey, Jedininja wish I could've been reading your fanfiction series but I was dreadfully busy with listening to Audio books/reading/researching 'still am' and or currently planning to read 'or at least try to read' The Wheel of Time, but I should be finally done with what I'm doing in an month or so! I know I sounded pretty harsh in my last review with you trying to make Skylanders Academy an Edgy Dark Fantasy like Berserk 'RIP Muira!' but honestly while I have issues with making Spyro too scary and making Cynder be depressed from losing Malefor when she never actually truly liked him, it was still better than the standard Fanfiction or fantasy story in general. Your writing reminded me allot of my odler sister's writing who to wrote a Berserk-like Dark Fantasy story that while good had several grammar issues and other few things wrong with the plot. Also don't worry about being too edgy. The long Spyro Fanfic I'm slowly working on that's heavily influenced by Creepy Pasta and Stephen King is much edgier than yours! At least from little I read of your story. Dose it get lighter in places or is it a steady climb of dark times in Skylands?

@@YamiSpyroX its a bit steady. It dips into darker parts like death and near death stuff a fair bit. But for the most part it does have a balance between light and dark moments. I do plan on going back and maybe adding stuff in or fixing stuff. Hopefully by the time you get round to reading the other stories I will have already done it so you can see a better more improved version for your first read maybe.

My readers were down and a few people were beggining to tell me that it felt like I should have ended earlier and not kept going for so long. Every now and again I get an itching to return but have mostly moved on to other projects. So its stopped at 10 so far. Also sure it's no problem at all heres the link to the first story. Dark Spyro takes up too long on Season 3 as he only just drags on and overstayed his presence until near the end of the season that Spyro and Dark Spyro becomes separate entities.

I personally didn't like the series. Some designs have odd parts. Like Spyro's gigantic face cheeks or the way Kaos looks too much like a baby. Speaking of which, the character portrayal is off too. Kaos was already a not very threatening villain, but in the show they made him a baby with mommy issues. I also like evil "Kaos' mom" from the games more than the good guy in disguise Kassandra from the show. Oh and Cynder being a fangirl of the skylanders is also cringy AF and her being a wimp doesn't help either. I did like the inclusion of Malefor though. That's something a supposed new game can do. I also don't like how the skylanders themselves are braindead idiots. The games already had some of that "Sonic Colors type of humor" in the form of Flynn, and a bit in Skylanders Imaginators with the original skylanders, but the show dialed it up to 11. I nearly expected Spyro to call Eon "baldy nosehair" or make jokes about no copyright law in the universe stopping him (which would be ironic considering who owns Spyro). That said, I realize that the show is made for kids and not for a 30 years old. And we're talking about Netflix here. The same Netflix that went totally woke and released Cuties. I was not exactly expecting a quality, gripping story from them. That first chapter does not pull you in. Or the rest of it for that matter.

Only things I dislike is the A or B plot. One follows the protagonists. One follows the antagonists. Sometimes it feels like they just shoved one on. For example, one episode has a major plot point (S2) where Kaos leaves the Doomraiders. Meanwhile we’re getting a story on a minor side character (Hex)

What never made sense about this show is how it treated Spyro. How does a skylander with halitosis qualified but Spyro who's a literal dragon didn't? They even made Spyro get beaten by Chompy mage. Is this some kind of joke? This show constantly makes fun of the classic Video Game dragon character everone grew up with and loved, yet if it wasn't for him, no one would even buy the game, they had to use Spyro for marketing, obviously anyone would buy the game if he's in it.

It was a great series but personally I wish it'd lasted longer. Growing up, I had 4 out of the other skylander games out there and sometimes I still play the games but now that their kinda dead, it would make sense what else could happen. If they did ended up doing a reboot, it most likely wouldn't end well in my opinion. Otherwise great review to the series.

i always felt this series had amazing writers but the G rating had them so constrained you could tell there was so much more they wanted to do they brought DARK FUCKING SPYRO into it with no good left in his body and he does nothing his limits are taken away meaning he has no quarrles about using any of his elements and his full strength meaning he could have probably soloed the entire academy but no because of the G rating they have him be a generic cartoon villan rubbing his paws together and evily grinning every so often
