I don't hear a lot of people say this, but Verna was pretty horrible when you think about it. When her and Chet got into an argument, she takes their trailer to wherever, not concerned with how it would affect Shawn. Then when Chet passes on, she writes a letter saying she wasn't Shawn's mother. Chet wasn't perfect, but he wanted to make things right as best as he could with Shawn. All Verna did was run away when things were difficult.

If it wasn’t for Cory or his family Shawn wouldn’t of known what the feeling of love felt like unconditional love Cory and his family loved Shawn like he was family Cory made Shawn the best person he can be always being there for Shawn even when Shawn tried to push him away Cory never gave up on him I wish I still had my best friend from high school but sadly they betrayed me in the worse way possible and ruined the trust and bond I had with them if it weren’t for that I still would be there for them no matter how hard I tried with them and how much I cared and loved them the deceit was to much to Bear for me at least Shawn never deceived Cory or broke Cory’s trust and that’s why their friendship blossomed into them being brothers

I love the character of Chet, he's sort of the loveable rogue character like Del boy from Only Fools and Horses and Stanley Fletcher from Porridge in British Comedies. These are characters that you can't trust and are wheeler dealers but they have a charm and a vulnerability that makes them endearing and loveable that you do see their side. Chet's character really could have come of badly if not for Blake Clark giving him nuance. You get the sense from this episode that Chet was also 'dealt a bad hand' and throughout the series in his own way has always wanted the best Shawn which in Chet's view is away from Chet and the Hunter lineage. I mean he is happy for Jack to be away from him and at every turn he gives Shawn to who he preceives as better than him because he wants him to have a better life than him, but he doesn't realise is that the better life Shawn wants is with Chet.

Shawn's dad and absent mom kind of remind me of myself and my parents, only it's the other way around. I was conceived at a party, I think, when someone put something in my mom's drink. She was on a date with my dad, who may or may not have intended this to happen to her. My mom doesn't fully remember. When I was eight, a fatherless, naïve child, I asked my mom if my sister's dad (who lived hours away) could be my dad. He agreed and I started calling him dad, but stopped at 16. It's been handshakes and casual chats since (when I very rarely saw him). At my sister's wedding, I feel he interacted with me a bit too much: seeing who's taller when I casually mentioned my height, fist-bumping, remarking how good the food looked, praising my heart and apologetic anxiety about possibly hurting someone (when I referenced my lack of filter). I don't exactly know his motive here, but at some point, he said I doubted myself. It was some conversation about pride, I believe. When I denied my self-doubt and said I just didn't like to sound conceited, he said I should see it as confidence and that I was amazing. I'm kinda awkward now--because of sappiness for one thing--but also because...maybe he was just being nice to me? Looking down on me? I mean, you could say I ✌"forced"✌ him to be my dad at one point, so maybe he was ✌"forcing"✌ himself to see my good qualities? Not to say he's a bad guy or snob or anything; absolutely not! Maybe a good guy who made a mistake---condescension? Do you guys understand? Also, don't take "force" literally and get distracted by it. I used the word loosely

I jus gotta say my family was jus like Shawn's, the only difference is both of my parents are married and been toxic not only themselves but to me when their days were bad which made me be affected by being the "rebellious kid" my brother is like Jack and my sister is jus like my brother. The point is, never think of abandoning your loved ones even pushing them away then say come back like a lap dog. All my life I never had a friend like Cory and I wished I did, tho I did have my english teacher and she took me in like family. This aint comparisons or any finding sympathy, it's I want people to take it serious when a child/pet/anything in a dysfunctional home to be taken in or even taken in a better environment.

I liked Shawn's character arc, and Rider Strong played him perfectly, but I hated this twist. He had been getting shit all his life, and it was nice to see Verna finally come back and have them be a family again. With that and Angela leaving, I felt they took it too far with his story.
