From allowing too many people into the central pens, to not closing the central pens and lying about how the fans got there in the first place. The blood of the victims of the disaster itself and those who committed suicide because of survivor's guilt are on his hands

The treatment given to some of the junior officers was just as disgusting as the treatment given to the Liverpool fans and just showed how clueless and corrupt the senior officers and the system was. The people in charge knew they messed up and it was just basically an exercise to save their own arses. Glad the truth finally came out and the fans were proved correct even though proper football fans knew the truth all along especially knowing what leppings lane was like and what South Yorkshire Police were like

Why on earth was the game held at that dilapidated $h1thole? What the he!! were the severely injured doing at a bloody gymnasium, when there were 40 ambulances parked up in Penistone Road waiting to take them to hospital so that many of the victims could have gotten the life saving treatment they needed? Honestly the incompetence is staggering, perhaps matched only by the breathtakingly evil corruption of the SYP and WMP in investigating them. So many levels and strands of institutionalised deceit and corruption that ran through Hillsborough and it's aftermath. RIP to the 97, YNWA.

@mrkipling22013 жыл бұрын
The central pens were actually full by half past 2. The central tunnel should have been closed off then, whether gate C was opened or not. If that had happened then the fans would have been directed to the side pens, when gate C was opened and when the fans came through the turnstiles. This was carried out in the 2 previous semi finals. So was the filtering system on the approach to the leppings lane turnstiles in the 2 previous semi finals. It wasn’t in 1989. That was another huge reason for the disaster.

This had to be so hard for the families, I can only wish them a degree of peace as time goes by. I am English by heritage but American by location. I cannot understand the use of standing room only seating, general admission, and the worst the fences giving a lethal cage-like atmosphere to the stadium. I have been to many American football games, all seats assigned, no fences between the field and stands and no crushing injuries. As an aside, of course police cover up their mistakes, lie as well as do bad things.

Back in the day, fans were treated worse than criminals or even animals. Hooliganism was a problem at a lot of matches, so the police were trained like the army and Ulster Police Force. They were told to do everything necessary to stop the hooligans and were given free reign. They were vicious. They were responsible for at least 15 fans deaths from being struck by horses or beaten by the truncheon to death during the 70's and 80's. That is a fact! I will always remember seeing the Sun headline and I will never forget it. The Sun should have been fined heavily for false reporting. Now they would get away with it just as easily online.

Okay, so we’re really talking about the decision of one man. One police official - he and he, alone, made the decision about the gate and tunnel and caused the entire disaster and then lied about it. It’s unfortunate that the line officers also incurred blame and criticism, because then it got diluted and diverted away from him.

Isn't there a big park or open space across the road from the ground? Hindsight is 20/20 I know but I can't believe the police never thought to use that space to then bring fans through in a more orderly fashion! Also why would the more wider supported of the 2 clubs allocated the away enclosure? Police and the FA culpable for this!
@jonvi20272 жыл бұрын
The police always had a policy of designating the western side of the stadium from the team that came from the North so the two sets of supporters didn't cross paths, hence Liverpool getting Leppings Lane for the second year running, again supposed Hooliganism took precedence over crowd safety.
