I'll admit Albanese expected the best from Australians, but Dutton primed them to give their worst, so he fails for idealism; but if you think the details were missing then you've fallen for another lie from the No camp. The constitution is deliberately vague about pretty much everything. The detail doesn't go there - it's meant to be an indicative document. The real power of implementing the constitution goes to Parliament, and the detail is in whatever legislation the government of the day puts up. Maybe the ALP would have given a Voice more funding, and a following LNP government would have reduced the funding - but that is the prerogative of the elected parliament.

@lonnie224 Жыл бұрын
Well here is a different spin on this, a comment I read on an OS site and this makes a lot of sense to me. Albo has played both sides of this. He kept an election promise to bring the voice to a referendum. He didnt release any details because he was fully aware that it would have a major affect on the mining industry who would have came for him hard and ruin our base economy. So he knew if he played it like this knowing it would never get up. Australians were never going to agree to constitutional change without detail. This way he looks like a virtuous hero all the while making sure nothing changes. If this is the case, then this would have to make him one of the most disngenous Prime Ministers we have ever had.

He's not just arrogant. He's "rags to riches" arrogant. Albo has the type of smug "I deserve this" attitude you sometimes see in singing competition winners who can't tell if they've been able to win over the judges with their version of "Amazing Grace" or their tragic backstory. Either way he's just another feckless political hack who's likely mortally wounded his career for a photo op.

Well said Paul. Time for faith, hope and community and a new fairer, honest, and transparent system with due dilligence, audits and honest governance who are responsible and can manage our funding so that everyone gets a fair go. Audits first please and then let’s get the systems in place that have proper checks and balances so that all communities can begin to heal and unite and be the once great country this was. Blessings to all, together we can create a better community so that we can all have harmony. We are all Australians and we all deserve the right to be able to walk this country without division. Next time there are gaps, please use super glue. Let’s just be Australians. ❤️ Ps someone did ask a question, why isn’t everyone including indigenous just through the Centrelink program, why is there a division??. Cheers.

Albo's looking/sounding more & more like a glass jawed version of Mr Magoo as he gets on in the job. As for a conviction politician: If he was then he'd have addressed all the other, now broken, pre-election issues. But he didn't. As for the post referendum loss blame shifting: That was a always going to happen. That's the nature of Albo. He'll NEVER own his 'mis-doings'! Ever! Doesn't have the humility or respect for it. That's just the truth. As for the rounding on Mundine clip: What a bias disgrace that was by the presenter threatening to cut Mundine off. She wouldn't have been so 'gungho' if she was white. And that's just the truth too. Langton didn't accuse Australians of being racist? YES she did. When was it?2019? Does that get denied, or, 'taken out of context now'? We all saw the footage. But,... gasp,... we can't say that now because...well....it was Marcia Langton wasn't it & you can't say anything against her! No no!

Everything Albo did was to put them in the position they are now where they can blame Dutton. They talk about politicising this thing, it was Labor that politicised it immediately he announced it on election night. They have continually tried to drive a wedge with the opposition. They seriously thought it would just get waved through, and then Albo would bathed in the glory of winning with no bipartisan support, now it’s failed, it’s Duttons fault

I think Albo's underlying plan was to create a left wing body (the group selected to be the Voice) which would (quite deliberately) sit above parliament (hence the separate chapter in the constitution) which could effectively veto any coalition legislation if/when they returned to power. Basically a labour stranglehold on government - for ever. I see no signs that it was ever about the plight of aboriginal people from his perspective.
