Skyrim is a game of many locations. Bustling towns, quiet forests, The Elder Scrolls 5 has it all. And some of Skyrim's most iconic locations are its dungeons. Large structures, loaded with enemies, bosses, puzzles and other challenges, dungeons have long been a staple of medieval-fantasty RPGs and players are very familiar with them. Despite so many existing, some of Skyrim's dungeons are especially unique and offer a particularly exciting expirence. So today we'll be taking a look at five more of the spookiest and most interesting dungeons in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

It’s sad when the average person in Skyrim needs several friends and a few weeks to explore a dungeon and they often don’t even survive. Meanwhile the Dragonborn clears eight dungeons in a matter of hours with a magic fork

I remember my first time playing Skyrim back in 2011. I was doing the college of winterhold as my first questline and was around level 10. I was heading to Saarthal and on my way their I noticed this hole in the ground and saw that it was a cave entrance. Loving dungeon crawling I said "sure, I can put Saarthal on hold" and jumped in. It was only then that I realized I couldn't get back out, so I started pushing through to find a way out. It was then that I realized that this dungeon was absolutely swarming with Falmer that were all 2 or 3 times my current level. I can say without a doubt that my first time doing sightless pit is probably the toughest challenge I've ever done in an Elder Scrolls game... or any game for that matter.

Another possibility me and my skyrim buddies have discussed with about the temple of Crib was that it was some sort of worshiping temple for a dwemer king, as some cultures had temples to kings (I believe south american culture were most prominent for this) meant strictly for people to place their offerings and gifts to appease a kings wishes or requests and was used as a sort of treasure vault of sorts. It seems highly plausible for the fact that, like you said, the dwemer worshiped no god. However, my buddy zeke piped up that maybe it was a temple to a forgotten snow elf god that the dwemer built for the snow eleves as part of the "refuge" deal they had with the dwemer. Both are just theories I thought youd might like to hear, but idk really.
@doyoumakeittotheclouddistr4132
@doyoumakeittotheclouddistr4132 3 жыл бұрын
Thats what ive been trying to figure out... there is a creation club add on that adds the sunder and wraithguard quest to it.... but i dont think thats canon since the dwemer disappeared when kagrenac used the tools on the heart of lorkhan thus making them all disappear.... and like you said the dwemer don’t believe in gods but “prefer reason and logic-vivec”. So the temple of xrib is an anomaly to me.

The Dwemer altar just above the outside of the Sightless Pit location is fun, with a unique twist thrown in. When you check the inventory of the skeleton on the altar, loot all of it, and the other skeletons on the ground will resurect and attack you. After defeating them, and the skeleton that you first looted, check that skeletons inventory again. There will be a book called The Gates of Oblivion in the inventory...again. Each time you exit and enter the inventory, the book will be there for you to take. This is on my Legendary Edition copy of the game for Xbox 360. The unending copies of the book are very funny, because there are unending gates of Oblivion, too.

Regarding the Dwemer temple -wasn't there a line in one of the lore books saying "The Dwemer scorned the Daedra, preferring instead their Gods of reason and logic." I always thought this referred to science, but perhaps it is literrally saying they had their own pantheon? i.e. they did indeed build that temple themselves

It's not true that the Potema catacombs are only accessible after starting the quest. I got in when I was only around 2nd or 3rd level, and I hadn't even started the Wolf Skull Cave quest. What happened was: I was caught stealing in the temple, so I ran down to the cellar to hide. One of the priests came down looking for me and opened the gate to the catacombs. I can't remember if I killed the priest or not, but I ran into the catacombs to escape justice. I didn't get too far before I was killed, but as far as I went everything was exactly as it was if I had gotten there the normal way. Potema spoke to me and everything.

Dude Melka is my homegirl yo! It's a bug I've encountered in a few playthroughs before. Sometimes when I talk to a friendly creature there's a chance this bug happens and this creature will start following me until they either die or somehow the bug "deactivates" and they leave on their own after a while. Recently it happened with Melka and she is definitely my favorite accidental follower. Now of course I have to listen to her rasping "do you like.... my pretty tower?" behind me every 3 seconds, but Serana's constant complaints about the weather did a good job in leveling my patience.

I encountered the Sightless Pit at about level 12, but due to a previous (and mildly traumatic) experience with Falmer, I auto-assumed "Sightless? Falmer. Do not go in." Glad I didn't! I'm at about level 25-ish in that playthrough, but I'm not going to check out any Dwarven ruins until I'm level 30. I really want to explore them, but they are scary and I do not get along with machines both in real life and video games. Also they are usually infested with Falmer and that is basically a giant neon sign saying "NO" to me.

I was utterly disappointed that Melka wasn't spouse material in Skyrim. I mean, most fair maidens you complete a quest for are growing a liking into you.

i found a falmer cave relativly near whiterun. i cant remember what it was called, but it was /very/ dark, and was only illuminated by glowing mushrooms. there was a lower level where the falmer had a chaurus hatchery. its terrifying when you cant see anything in the dark but its even more scary how theres a falmer 'settlement' so close to a hold >:x

I jumped into the sightless pit on my first play through at like level 3. That was an unpleasant couple of days of playing Dark Scrolls instead of Elder Scrolls. I did eventually make it out though.

If you haven’t discovered the Dawnguard and show up in armor of the opposite faction that Riften is, Dawnguard will attack you on site. Just happened to me. I reloaded a save change my clothes out of empire gear riften was stormcloaks. I’d like to add hit a bounty hunter with a clan spell stops him and you can pay the bounty and move on.

I was managing my cold-gauge very poorly (Survival Mode on Special Edition), and the cold legit made me HAVE to drop down into 'The Sightless Pit'. It's good I've grown up, cause that shit would NOT have been nice. (Especially since it has a lot of resemblance to the first dungeon in the video and with the amazing narrative om that dungeom specifically, that just sounds downright horrifying).

Just want to point out something: Skyrim is 9 years old now and still extremely active. If Skyrim has a fanbase this loyal I can only imagine how TES 6 will turn out after a decade
