The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

I'm tall and strong and I don't really feel the cold much, and I was born in a slum of a county like Skyrim is and let me tell you, it's probably not worth it. Being strong really comes in handy and being tall has a LOT, a LOOOOT of downsides. Nothing is made for you, like clothes, cars, bus seats, plane seats, etc, and you get to suffer from back pain

@@Altrantis Sure, being tall can be painful in this world. But imagine an entire large nation where most everyone is giant and musclebound. Everything there would be made for you. And unlike regular humans, Nords are physically designed to be large, so they wouldn't suffer the same issues.

Nords were so OP in Morrowind based on racial bonuses. immune to cold even magic 100%, 50% to shock. I've been playing only with Nords since Morrowind days.

If you're not interesting in roleplaying a specific race, and only care about the bonuses, then it's either magic-user y/n? Y = Breton; N = Nord. Even if you're gonna be a rogue or archer, for some extra starting agility and Sneak/Marksman/etc only matters in the first hour of play and then for the rest of the game you'll be regretting being stuck with 1/day command beasts no stronger than a nix-hound or whatever lame racial ability that isn't 100% cold resistance and 50% shock resistance!

Then again, even if you're not gonna cast spells, Breton is still a strong contender against the Nord simply because CE 50% magicka resistance makes it a lot easier to never have to worry about paralysis and drain/damage ability attacks simply by putting on Hircine's Hide or Ebony Mail + Ring of Phynaster + anything else that adds +10% CE Resist Magicka.

nords may have been powerful mages once but as pointed out in the video, we are looking at a contemporary context and in the time of skyrim, magic is sneered at almost universally by the race with many locals even going so far as wanting to sack the college for all the problems magic causes. not to mention that at the time of skyrim the number of powerful nord mages is significantly lower than those of the other races with the majority of college members and court wizards belonging to other races (mainly bretons due to cultural tensions with elves)

SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!!! Seriously now! The first time I played Skyrim, I chose the nord race, and I build what I like to call the "Full Warrior build". All my primary skills were based on fighting, with some secondary skills like enchanting or lockpicking. It was so fun that I really hope to do it again! It's definetely worth it!

Even though the college of winterhold is in ruins, Skyrim is filled with necromancers, witches, and rogue mages/ warlocks. A Nord willing to seek magic of dark and primal nature may become very powerful in Skyrim.

The best game to play as a Nord was Morrowind. You had bonuses to Axe,Blunt Weapon and Meduim Armour to name a few along with the frost resistance and shock resistance.

Since spears aren’t a major skill for any class (meaning it won’t start very high anyway) it’s better to start with as low a spear skill as possible so you can level it up fast early game and get your endurance to 100 ASAP. Unless you’re using a custom class and want to use them as your main weapon.

Yeah I hope they bring medium armor back and the deeper RPG elements, while also spicing up with some modern combat mechanics in the next series. Also do away with the compass and bring back having to read and follow the quests.

Personally, I’ve only been able to connect with Nords in the game. The only race that’s come close has been the bosmer. But nords hold a sort of sense of belonging for me, being my entire heritage is either Scandinavian or Celtic or Germanic, and the cultures of actual Vikings is amazing to me. So Nords for me are totally worth it, I connect and role play so much easier in a Nordic characters boots than anyone else

As a German I constantly flip between Imperials and Nords when it comes to picking the ES race that feels most culturally familiar to me. The imperials are clearly Romans but there’s also quite a lot of references to the Holy Roman Empire and medieval Central Europe in Imperial culture. That said, the Nords are clearly the more Germanic-inspired of the two races, but more Viking and Scandinavian than I would be used to. So if I were born into the Elder Scrolls universe in my current form I guess I’d probably be a citizen of Cyrodiil of mixed Nedic/Nordic heritage who looks a lot more Nordic than most of his Imperial kinsman.

The amazing thing about the civil war in Skyrim is that both sides have arguments that the other cannot refute, making it so players must weigh the evidence themselves. That is why we are still arguing over which side is best almost a decade later.

However, it’s made pretty clear that the only reason the Empire hasn’t crushed the Stormcloak rebellion is that most of the Imperial legions are garrisoned along Cyrodiil’s southern border with the Dominion. And Ulfric is doing the Thalmor a massive favor by destabilizing one of the few remaining provinces of the Empire.. he’s a short-sighted xenophobic dumbass with no vision for the larger geopolitics of Tamriel. He’s probably a great warrior, but he makes a terrible leader. Also the more lore you read the more you learn that Ulfric is half the reason the Thalmor have gotten so strict in enforcing the Talos ban. Ulfric is a welcome distraction for the Thalmor and is doing nothing more than costing Skyrim more sons and daughters that should be sharpening their blades waiting and preparing for the inevitable second confrontation with the Dominion rather than killing their Empire-aligned kinsmen

I will say playing the main quest as a Nord feels way more epic and meaningful to me. I know “technically” the Dragonborn could be any race but realistically it makes sense for it to be a Nord, and then you’re really fighting for your homeland, your afterlife, your understanding of the Monomyth essentially if you role-play a “typical” Nord

Morrowind and Oblivion are only a few years apart so the situation is more or less the same. Other than during oblivion there's the oblivion crisis, but that hit everywhere except Black Mash.

The best Nord is a Nord battlemage who looks and a lot like your standard barbarian but can also melt your face off with lightning. Get the name Shalidor back in the mouths of young Nords, make Skyrim magical again! Seriously though in the 4th era Nords are nerfing themselves for no reason being so distrustful of magic, and history has shown that Nords can become insanely powerful magic-wielders. If we want a chance against the Thalmor we need to embrace the secrets of Aetherius and use them to our advantage!

I always play each Elder Scrolls according to the location and the dominant race there. Like in Morrowind, I always play as Dunmer. In Oblivion, I always play as an Imperial and Skyrim as a Nord. Don't know it's just playing aesthetically.

Nord is without a doubt my favorite race to play as in Skyrim. I wish there was more attention and detail put into the traditional Nordic Pantheon and way of life. Why should a Nordic dragonborn be forced to choose between the empire or stormcloaks? What if you were given the option to completely abandoned them, and choose your own path. Imagine if bethseda added in the option to explore the Nordic Pantheon and way of life even more. I mean the Dragonborn is named Ysmir by the Greybeards. Ysmir is one of the Nordic gods, so in all honesty the nords should be worshipping the Dragonborn not Talos. The Dragonborn could've been High King or Queen of Skyrim. Basically telling Ulfric Stormcloak and the General Tullius that it's your way or the highway. You bring back the Nordic religion, replace Alduin with Akatosh within the Nordic Pantheon. Then you start building a new empire, based on Nordic tradition. But instead Bethseda chose to just make a few vague references to the Nordic Pantheon. And forcing you to chose either the stormcloaks or the imperials. It's a missed opportunity. And before anyone says anything about it, simply allowing players to ignore the civil war. Is not player's choice, it's the illusion of player's choice.

Ahzidal who was a great enchanter and studied from both elves and dragons to increase his power Miraak the first dragonborn whos actions speak for themselves Orryn The Black - Necromancer from ESO who used his power to Rise a dragon Thallik Wormfather - leader of the worm cult in skyrim Who was appointed by Mannimarco Himself Various Dragon Priest we seen.. Nords have no affinity to magic. So when a Nord dedicates himself to magic they end up impressive because Nords are stubborn. Stubbornness leads to dedication which leads to higher quality. So a Nord mage Is rare but high quality.

Well Solitude has an all powerful necromancer being ressurected right under the city and Sheogorath possessing half the Palace so maybe stable isn’t the best verb. Falkreath is cool though if you ignore the assassin hideout down the street.

Try this build i played that i saw on some forum it's called "the slandered merchant" Lore: you play as a merchant in merchant clothing the story is you are supposed to be a simple looking man/woman from any race but in actuality you are overpowered even though you are unarmed you possess the skills to take the weapon's of your foes in a fight and well as summon powerful weapons and the magical aptitude to deal with any foe be it beast, man or daedra. While going about your dealings as a merchant the imperial's of skyrim ambush ulfric and you get dragged with him but the empire have wronged the wrong man. The main goal of the build if you are completely naked you can still fight the ebony warrior and win. now there are 4 ways to go about this the arcane thief, the arcane stealth archer, arcane warrior and finally the puremage the final character should obtain all relevant skills for these 4 sub builds and vampire lord form with necromage simply for magic immunity with the atronach perk and atronach stone however this means you won't have any summons anymore. *Note* 3 of the builds utilize alteration for armor rating atronach perk ,mage armor(3) ,stability and the shout disarm. And restoration magic with the perks recovery regeneration and respite being a priority. all except for the arcane thief build. 1*arcane thief:* serpent stone in order to obtain early form of paralyze to pickpockpet stuff off of your opponent invisiblity spell and muffle illusion expert with quiet casting ,pickpocket lvl 100 perk , sneak 100 all perks get in get out make money highly recommend dragonborn dlc in order to obtain bound dagger for x15 sneak kills then casting invisiblity wiping out entire dungeons and camps. pickpocket is not lvled because you should obtain paralyze spell. 2*arcane stealth archer* apprentice illusion quiet casting, bound bow spell, archery 100 3*arcane warrior* alteration for armor rating and paralyze, restoration for respite so you have sword in one hand fast healing in the other and go 1v100 , onehanded or two handed which ever you prefer (althought i recommend 1 handed) weapon bound sword/battleaxe no need for sneak nor illusion 4*pure mage* destruction maxed fire ice and storm. illusion Also obtain the fear increasing perk in order to buff fire damage for destruction. while also using bound dagger with destruction spells it's recommended you play as a high elf in this build simply for mana purposes obtaining the atronach stone buff and the atronach perk in alteration as well learning the area restoration spells to essentially have infinite mana with this build you are supposed to do a crime in solitude go to jail break out because of secret servant having lockpicks getting your stuff back on killing everyone in the city then joining the stormcloaks waging war and then axing general in the head with a battleaxe. Then killing the emperor of skyrim.

Magic is the true source power on Mundus, and anyone who denies that is either ignorant or intentionally deluding themselves. And yes the Thu’um is a form of magic just like the Sword Singers of the Redguards are said to have been “as much mages as warriors”. Just saying, it all comes down to magic
