@@mskatonic7240 I don't think he was talking about the mechanics of the game necessarily, it's a part of vampire myth that they can't cross running water, because it was believed that rain was blessed by god. (At least that's the explanation I remember.) Though I don't think that is canonical to the Elder Scrolls version, and even if it were I don't think it would apply there. (Also I don't think you put the right timestamp btw.)

My headcanon is that Simon is just what Sheogorath is up to while The Dragonborn is off doing legendary world-changing actions. Literally dragging the Lord of Vampires by the nose out of his castle to his enemies' doorstep is entirely a Sheogorath activity, the biggest counter evidence being everyone remaining dressed.

Summon gargoyle is a spell you can get. A Gavin summoning spell. In vanilla it's a vampire lord perk so would have to get captain fannybones turned into a skeleton vampire lord first, or just get a mod. Either mod him as a permanent follower or add someone capable of summoning him. Or find a way to place a stone gargoyle on the ship to protect it.
