The problem is that salt piles are also alchemy ingredients, and they're much more powerful in brewing potions than making prepared foods. Unless you're playing survival mode, cooking is rarely worth it, and vegetable stews are probably the only one that really are worth the trouble since their ingredient cost is so low.

Ive got so much food i may as well make it better
