There was one thing incorrect here: the Priest is most likely a Vampire from Cyrodil. He mentions that such vampires are indistinguishable from normal humans when fully fed. After holding the candle to his face he says "I haven't fed in 72 hours". This indicates that it wasn't the candlelight causing his vampirism to show, but the lack of feeding. Further evidence is that you can encounter Movarth (the hunter from Immortal Blood) in Skyrim, near Morthal at Morvarth's lair, like you said, and he is clearly vampiric without the need for candlelight, despite gaining his Vampirism from the Priest. Sorry, I love Elder Scrolls vampire lore. Great video though.
@MrRhexx7 жыл бұрын
You might be right! The part that left me doubting it, was the fact that the vampire hunter didn't realize the priest was a vampire until he got attacked. I feel like he would have realized it was a cyrodillic vampire from the get go if he hadn't fed in that long.
@The_Mold_Wizard7 жыл бұрын
MrRhexx I think it was just the fact that it was dark in the room, so the candle light showed off his features more clearly. Since Movarth wasn't expecting the priest that had been helping him all this time to actually be a vampire, the shock gave the priest the ability to move in and land a blow before he had a chance to react. That made the rest of the fight (if indeed there was a rest of it) very one sided. He fits the role though, acting as a priest, a respected member of society, is exactly what the Cyrodil sort would do, that sneaky lot.
@VampC7 жыл бұрын
2 things, though. 1. They wouldn't specifically mention that type of vampire only being distinguishable through candle light, and have him reveal himself in that exact same way, but to then be a different type. Doesn't make sense. It's to get the reader to have that "Ohhhhhh." moment. 2. You have to understand how the game works. He is simply set as "Vampire race", so the game just gives him that appearance. That's pretty much it. Knowing Bethesda, I doubt they bothered to change him.
@The_Mold_Wizard7 жыл бұрын
Vamp. C He did not reveal himself through candlelight, he simply allowed the candle to illuminate his face. It's also irrelevant how the game works, because technically lore wise the Volkihar Vampires are a different strain than the mutts you find in caves. Secondly, it's implied that the priest is a resident of Skyrim, a long way away for a that type of vampire. Thirdly, he specifically mentions that he hasn't fed in 48 hours, the exact thing that would make a Cyrodilic Vampire appear less than human. And as I said in another comment, it's the Cyrodilic Vampire's nature to blend into society. A priest is the perfect cover
@VampC7 жыл бұрын
I get what you mean, but the whole telling the reader how they're revealed, and then revealing him in that way makes perfect sense. I haven't read the book, so maybe reading it myself will make it more clear. Also, vampires can travel around, you know. Especially seeing as there's no telling how old he was. He's also a long way from Cyrodiil, isn't he? And yes, it really does matter how the game works. As far as the game is concerned, all vampires are the same, apart from their initial race, eg bretonVampire race. And if the game IS right on how he looks, if the priest also looked like that, don't you think the hunter would have noticed something odd about him? lmao. Also, telling him how long he had since fed might have just been to scare him, or those types of vampires might look even more monstrous when revealed through candle light, while hungry.

The theory about Molag Bal and Hircine conspiring together to destroy a Daedric lord, and create a new race, makes sense. When Trinimac was destroyed, the Orsimmer were created, by the new Daedric prince. Born from his remains. I can see them both destroying this possible Daedric lord or potentially another Aedra, and using him/her to give rise to the various strains of Vampirism and Lycanthropy across Tamriel. Unlike Malacath though, Hircine and Molag Bal likely consumed this being entirely, hence why some other deity didn't arise from them.
@wafflingmean44775 жыл бұрын
Perhaps if they did consume this Daedric Prince then it was a mix of Molag Bol's and this Prince's power that turned the first vampire after Molag Bol raped her? Perhaps there's a hint of truth in both stories.

Awesome lore video. Now we just need one about the Volkihar clan and find out just how old it is. Idle dialogue about Dwemer ruins and first talking to Serana seems to indicate that she and her family predate the Cyrodiilic Empire and has been around since the Dwemer. That's gotta be pretty damn old.
@dlassassin56766 жыл бұрын
Shadow O'Neill she may even predate Talos
@i-evi-l6 жыл бұрын
Cyrrodillic Vampires come from the First Vampire IIRC meaning they are older than Volkihar, but She, The First, was also made by Molag Bal just like the Volkihar. I'm guessing Molag Bal made all the vampires but just ended up trying different modifications to see which clan would end up being the best. Volkihar are dang powerful but their bloodline thins as the "gift"is passed onto the further generations away from Harkon and they become unable to become Vampire Lord form. Hell we only see TWO Vampire Lords in the whole game so that leaves alot of speculation for those at Volkihar Castle. Even though the systems are different, comparing Oblivion Vampires (Cyrrodillic Vampires) to Volkihar is not too dissimilar and shows stark differences between the two breeds when taken at face value: burning in daylight vs weakness in daylight, vampiric drain vs pluses to Destruction magic and all around athletics. I know I'm stretching but its fun.

I thought of doing a role play where my character is a vampire but he hunts his own kind. Sorta like “Blade”, he cares about ordinary people defending them from other vampires but abstaining from feeding on the living only doing so on the dead when he really needs to. He would have a somewhat strenuous relationships with the Dawnguard as he would tip them off on vampire dens and hideouts, plots and such they would recognize his actions as something noteworthy but many like Isran would also readily dismiss it as him weeding out his competition for blood when he truly wants to keep his kind in check he would have many enemies both vampire and vampire hunters.
