Benzux The Ender Master Good for you.... the times dragons, including Alduin melted my heath bar with a breath or I got oneshottted by high tier draugr still haunt my dreams. Fighting Alduin with my first mage character was an epic experience. Having to utilize the fire resist junk I picked up in the College questline and literally everything I had in my bag was exciting although all was my fault because I did not even have a proper set of items for a mage because I prioritized magicka regen over everything. Too bad Bethesda didn't had time to work on the game balance more...

I doubt that. It is said in the lore dragons don't understand the concept of mortality. If that's the case how the nords could create a shout that forces the concept of mortality onto a dragon from dragon language which lacks vocabulary on mortality.

It's interesting, if thats true about Alduin then he'll return at his most powerful, but if what the stories say is true the Dovakiin will appear once more to defeat him. That is unless another theory is true. There is a theory that the Dovakiin was created by Akatosh to slay Alduin, and the Dovakiin was meant to do this because Alduin abandoned what he was meant to do when he tried to rule over the world. So basically if true if Alduin returns at full power then the Dovakiin may not return as Alduin would be fulfilling his purpose.

Banci Ki Wrong. Alduin did actually forsake his role. Not only this, he hasn't eaten any should to get power, and lost more of it while going through time. He's a Shadow of his former self. If it was time for the Kalpa to end, the LDB would stand no chance. A god is invincible in their sphere, and Alduin's sphere is Destruction.

Perhaps when Alduin was banished from time with the Elder Scroll, he was fragmented throughout time? So there are now multiple pieces of Alduin in existence and emerging in different time periods? This would explain why they'd all be much weaker than he was initially, and why their souls cannot be absorbed when killed. Perhaps his soul can only be absorbed when it is the full being?

Thats because the Elder Scrolls dont care about rules, they dont even exist, but they are with us, when was it written? Today, now, yesterday, five thousand years later. Alduin is technically Akatosh's brother (He's actually a fair bit older than Akatosh), they're both shards of Aka (the original dragon entity made up off all the dragon souls combined). Skyrim just simplifies things and say he is the son of Akatosh since Michael Kirkbride's lore is confusing as hell

Augustei Really? Interesting. I was under the impression that Akatosh was the FIRST Dragon, and all other Dragons are Akatosh's children, with Alduin being the first-born. Civilization is several thousands years old. Of course people ingame have no idea what actually transpired so long ago. What people who bash on Elder Scrolls games for being lore breaking forget or ignore is that many things that are "incorrect" have happened a long ass time ago in the past. By the time of the ES games literally the only information mortals have about dragons is some Blades documents that are heavily biased because they were hunting dragons for a reason even they don't know, and Nordic mythology, that is incorrect or lacking because it's a religion.
@branchtree448

You know. I was wondering. Why did Alduin not just roar and destroy Skyrim immidiately? I mean. Why did he go through all the effort of first restoring former dragons? Then you explained the whole "shadow of Alduin"-theory and I think that might be the reason why he did not go in the immidiate assault. He didn't have enough power at the time, I guess?
@Nevervindme
@Nevervindme 7 жыл бұрын
Branch Tree Alduin wasn't interested in destroying Nirn; he wanted to enslave it. Put the hiërarchy back to where it was before the first Age. Dragons ruling over humans. That's why he didn't bother destroying everything. Also, the actual reason why Shor didn't kill Alduin and why the Dragonborn didn't consume his soul, is because Akatosh didn't allow it. Akatosh keeps Alduin alive at all costs. This implies that Akatosh wants to use Alduin in the future, possibly to destroy Nirn.
@branchtree448
@branchtree448 7 жыл бұрын
Scrat Interesting, but why would Alduin not want to destroy Nirn? I mean. He wanted to do it before, right? He got cockblocked by Shor. So I guess he changed his mind and his own nature? So Akatosh keeps Alduin alive, but he makes no moves when it comes to when Alduin tries to destroy/overtake the world. Does that mean that Akatosh had already planned a destruction and that he it got stopped because of Shor and/or the Dovahkiin?
@Nevervindme
@Nevervindme 7 жыл бұрын
Alduin understood that destroying Nirn was going against the Eight Divines. He kept his head down and didn't make any more attempts at actually destroying it, and focused on enslaving it instead. Akatosh couldn't care less if he enslaved humanity. They created the perfect, immortal plane that they wanted, as long as Alduin kept it intact, he was free to do whatever. Besides, the Divines have never really directly influenced Nirn that much.
@kells473
@kells473 7 жыл бұрын
Branch Tree he might just think Nirn is something to play with, since he's got nothing better to do anymore. no more tasty worlds, so let's just play with the one that's good. he could be using the "ghosts" of himself to keep Nirn safe since his soul can't be absorbed due to it's power.

I think it would have been really cool to see Alduin portrayed as more than just a super evil, arrogant (if not over-villified) dragon. Seeing this side of his purpose and his role in the renewal of the mortal realm as a sort of natural process, and hearing of the apocylyptic power he held in lore makes the in-game portrayal of him all the more disappointing. Hopefully jsn't just swept under the rug and forgotten about in the future, and I like to think perhaps his soul was sent back to Akatosh to be "purified" of his corrupted ambitions and to return in his pure form millennia after the time Skyrim takes place.

Rhexx! Nice to see another Skyrim video, but I'm also loving your awesome DD videos! Keep up the great content as always. But I wanted to discuss something with you. Would you be interested in investigating the All-Maker and the Skaal? They are quite interesting due to the very fact that they are the first monotheistic society in the elder scrolls universe. Do you think that the All-Maker is just one of the known deities interpreted by the Skaal as something/someone else? Although, this wouldn't add up seeing that the Skaal shaman in Dragonborn stated that the gods of the empire were just as foreign to them as the All-Maker was to the Dragonborn. But that doesn't include ALL of Nirn's deities. So it is still possible it's one of the known dirties. Or perhaps not. The Skaal often refer to the Daedra as demons, and believe in an entity known as the Adversary. This Adversary actually possessed a man, making him the infamous Greedy Man that stole all the All-Maker's gifts that were given to the Skaal, who had become lazy. They also mention rebirth and a river of life, something seen in Christianity. I hope that you see this post soon. I have an interesting theory that you might want to hear. Thanks!

Alduin on the throat of the world: "We will meet again, and when we do I will kill you." *alduin flies away* me: "Where the fuck do you think your going?" *uses dragonrend again preventing his escape* Me: "Well that was easy." *shoves a sword straight through his head*

Humans have been around for 200,000 thousand years, human civilization has existed for 12,000 years. It's amazing how multiple worlds have existed in the elder scrolls universe it's only a few thousand years old. It took our world 4.5 billion years to develop intelligence.

About Alduin being weaker: He is referred to as the World Eater, and his job was to consume worlds then put the stuff from them into Nirn. From his behavior it seems apparent that his power grows while he devours a world and he loses it when giving it into another world. With no job anymore he have acted on his draconic nature to conquer the world. Without devouring large amounts of power however his power have constantly weakened. He probably either wasn't aware of this when fighting the tongues or he did not consider the possibility of mortals being able to defeat him(which was correct, the old perv just pulled his Elder Scroll repurposed as a dildo out of his ass as a last resort). Even the Dragonborn was only able to gain so much power to force Alduin to resort to eating the souls of the dead in Sovngarde as an attempt to recover enough power to defeat him by devouring dragon souls which are known of being extremely powerful with lots and lots of unique perks. An act that Alduin himself never resorted to. Could it be that Alduin can't absorb dragon souls? Could it be that devouring his own was too low for him?
@elixxon
@elixxon 7 жыл бұрын
As I understood it he is not weaker than he was. His power grows as he devours a world and he returns to normal when he discards this power. He needed the souls in Sovngarde because the Dragonborn grew too strong for his current state by devouring dragon souls.

When the Dragons are immortal didnt mean this that the Dragonborn is immortal too? When yes than its can be that you are the same Hero in all games. You get only "resurrected" like a Dragon. :)
@NWolfsson

Every hero since Morrowind is more or less an aspect of a hero or god: -Morrowind's nerevarine was a reincarnation of Indoril Nerevar, the Azura's Champion who was killed by the Tribunal and brought back to do his unfinished business. It is unknown however if he was mortal (being canonically a dunmer he may have survived all this time but that's not the most plausible) -The Hero of Kvatch wasn't a reincarnation per se, but took the domain and identity of Sheogorath when time had come to Jyggalag to bring Order in his realm, aaand we don't really know how these things work, time is a trifty thing for the Daedra. Probably that since the very moment he took the sphere of Sheogorath, the Hero of Kvatch was an aspect of Sheogorath all his life before... -And for the Dragonborn... well being blessed by Akatosh doesn't necessarily mean you'll have all the powers of a Dovah. But nice theory :) and let's never forget: a single bein could very well bear many gods' aspects (btw Dranaugh I understand you are excited but try to manage your writing, it's barely understandable)

That would imply that Shor is also half of Alduin, which has no basis in the lore so far. Especially considering SHor's connections with Lorkhan and Wulfharth.

@thertsgamer3066
@thertsgamer3066 7 жыл бұрын
It's not. Shor and Lorkhan are two sides of the same entity, different only because of differing pantheons splitting the mythology (Shor being a god of the Dead, Lorkhan a god of Man. Not impossible, as Lorkhan is considered deceased and Shor reigns over an afterlife as the first dead god) and allowing the same entity to exist in two different ways. Wulfharth and Ysmir are both Shezzarines, or Avatars of Shor; the soul of Shor made manifest in flesh and blood. Alduin is the first creation of Akatosh, who, depending on interpretation, either was created by Aka, Mantled Aka, or both. The two sets of entities are not related. There's a bit of theorycraft that can show the Last Dragonborn to be a Shezzarine, potentially, but in no way has Akatosh ever had an avatar via the Shezzarine or Nerevarine method; only in the oblivion crisis has Akatosh had an avatar, and it was very much a shade of the god itself, not a mortal incarnation.

If the Dovahkiin in Skyrim is "the last Dragonborn", then when Alduin returns, he will return at full power to do his job; it will be the end of the world, and the Dragonborn will not be there to stop him. This is because the Dragonborn is there to stop Alduin from ruling the world, not to stop him from destroying it, since he would no longer be rebelling against Aka / Akatatosh at that point.

I think in the game it specifically mentions that Alduin was weak when he came back and was eating souls in Sovengarde to regain his power, so it's pretty reasonable to think that he is just a ghost of his former self, and he can be banished before he gets his full power back.
