God I hate those wraiths. Especially their screams and the fact you cannot harm them without a silver weapon. Also the undead in Oblivion was essentially horror fuel. Skyrim's undead is less terrifying. BUT. I adore the way skeletons just shatter when you hit them. Especially fun when you use a warhammer.
@theawkwardpotato19732 жыл бұрын
Moreover, I hope you can’t kill them with just an iron dagger or sword like you can in Skyrim. I liked when you had to use different tools for it, like magic or a silver weapon or of course a magical weapon. But that’s probably too much to ask from Bethesda these days.

I've found the proliferation of ghosts with unresolved tragedies needing resolution by a mortal agent that we see in Skyrim's CC content to be enjoyable. It feels like one of the most story-correlated quest types in Skyrim, if that makes any sense?

Just clicked on and am already loving this! Edit: It's kind of a shame how ghosts have been watered down in Skyrim from Oblivion where only silver and enchanted weapons could harm them. I think returning to that or something like it in TES VI would make them so much more unique and memorable again.
@Kummitusv6lur2 жыл бұрын
People forget how easily one could get a silver weapon or an enchanted one, so the whole normal weapon immunity was generally turned irrevelant within first few hours of game. Now implementing something more interesting could work, not a weapon immunity, but rather stuff that coud turn off some of their powers etc.

@Juxxize2 жыл бұрын
Yeah Skyrim ghosts r abit rubbish, thank goodness for mods adding some better ones.
@Kummitusv6lur2 жыл бұрын
@@BaalFridge Well there are already anti-undead spells like turn undead and sun damage spells. So that's actually covered. Overall rebuilding how ghosts work is where the work should start. Giving them powers like invisibility, short range teleportation, combined with the ghost healing during that makes them more interesting, dangerous enemies. Sun spells and silver could cause a "spiritburn" effect that stops them from doing that. Another thing could be an effect similar to the Yrden Sign which would root ghosts in one place etc.
@lazilycatharticone41912 жыл бұрын
@@Kummitusv6lur I get what you're saying, but regardless of availability it adds to the game world in my opinion. Hell, they could bring it back in a watered down state, where Silver Weaponry does so much more damage to undead that it feels silly to not carry one. In Skyrim Silver Swords are great for a early player, but much like the iron sword its there for aesthetic purposes mid to late game. I'd say make it so even ebony and enchanted weaponry feels less effective than a weapon of silver make against wraiths, spirits and ghosts. Keeping the weapons relevant even in late game stages. Of course daedric weaponry should still be a cut above the rest. As far as availability goes, if I had to care about it, I'd just make that Silver an extremely rare drop outside of certain factions, specific high-level dungeons, or shopkeepers. With shopkeepers, silver weaponry would be very expensive and there should only be one of its type in stock. It should also have a rare enchantment to justify the price. The economy should be reworked to feel a bit more realistic than Skyrim, but that's another beast in itself.

My fav ghost is Me. I died a long, long, long….. well you get the picture. When we came over from Atmora the priests said “take ease and find home in this ‘New Paradise.’”(Yeah, that’s a word for it.) It’s just as cold as the last spit of land we left, save for a few warm places. But even they are “marched”, if not Conquered by troublesome foes, and Horrible Monsters. The beasts and animals are worry-some on their own, but worse beasts roam. Trolls in every reach; in the blizzard, plain and every dark hole under or inbetween. Mer, unwelcoming and unforgiving in All manners of the meaning. The deep elves that dwell and build under mountain are beyond insane and hostile, but the more nomadic or surface populated tribes of Elf are just as prejudiced and crafty, I can’t explain but they Always have this blank stare; like their mind is always focused on One Agenda or One Goal, and all other mutual existences to them are irritants and “inconveniences.” One of the only reminders or at least some sense of home that also immigrated here with us were the Giants, of such renown; Ysgramor Himself fashioned his bow-string of Their Wives legendary tears. We knew they traveled with our forefathers to this place Ages before Ysgramor turned back to Atmora with vengeance on his heart, but we had heard there was a “great calamity” that ended up separating the strong pact that Men and Giants had. There was a great conflict, and the warriors sent the Frost Giants up on the mountains to protect them from being harmed or killed. After sword and shield were dropped, the men and mer rewrote the borders with mugs in hand but the Giants in this time had grown forgetful or decided to become more feral or independent and chose to live undisturbed from the world of Men. I’ve only met a few so far, they must be descendants of the Frost Giants because they have their horns but only have two eyes and skin like us, and they don’t even speak Atmoran. They seem to have taken to a new guttural grunt-speech language, I’m sure it was invented by the descendants who were natural strangers to Atmora’s Tongue. This interesting discovery confirms my suspicions that the huge loss and absence of diction and logic in the Giants is also the reason for the large population of Trolls that exist, as these foul creatures never walked Atmora. Frost Giants are the forefathers of all Giants, and oddly enough a being known to possess more than one eye. Every single Frost Giant I ever met back home has five, but every single troll I’ve met here has three. It would appear that the Frost Giants got extremely desperate and lonely, regretting not bringing their wives with them as they didn’t yet know they’d survive the journey. Beastiality is a hell of price to pay for protecting your spouse from a potential watery grave, but it doesn’t seem to be the entire fate of the Giant population here. I’ve spoken of Their descendants who stand just as tall, with skin and appearance like us but Much larger. Many native peoples from my travels spoke of Giants being helpful to farms and protecting of land, which came in handy for weak peoples that had lots to offer. It would seem in some of these instances, Wives were one of those rewards and while a Giant’s nothing notably “beautiful or majestic” to gaze at, I’m certain there were women “Long Well Pleased” by their spousal companies proportions. It would be the only way we’ve gotten Giants that look as Men, and I would hope that someday in the future the change their bodies have undergone paints an easier attempt for rejoining the world of Men, or at least re-allying with. Everything was so optimistic, and then Alduin. The Priests went mad and spoiled with power and title, holding Absolute dominion and Power over All: The land, and Us. Many chose to take up arms, as all they had to lose was their lives since freedom or peace had been extinguished. The Dragon Priests ruled over us separately, but always convened unanimously in one place, in the center of Skyrim within the Heart of its Winter. They had met shortly before the Dragon War, I was a chamberlain. I wanted to evesdrop and know what they’re were saying but I was too afraid, the things they do to people for Stealing Bread. I would surely Wish For Death and Never Get It if I was caught; Although it seems that’s what happened anyway! After the Dragon War began we were locked in our “cities.” Those who fought for freedom left, those who remained were loyalists and cowards with nowhere else to go and completely without knowledge of how to survive Out There. In Atmora when a Priest had died, his crypt would be prepared for his staff and so forth when their time came. But since the Dragon War, when a Priest dies.. Well. The whole City Dies With Him. Yeah. It was Never discussed before at all. It was Chosen for us by the priests, and what’s history was history. I remember That Day, gods I wish I could make myself forget. Vokun had just given a speech to us, about “our loyalty and strength in these hard times” and told us that one more sacrifice was needed of us, and that for this we would gain Eternal Life. What a fool, I’m such a fool. He called upon all Men who’s heart stood with him. Not knowing the country as well as home and knowing my family needed protection, i answered along with the other Atmorans who volunteered their service. It was purposely unexplained however that each man was speaking for his whole family. Yeah. This is we got for loyalty. Stabbed in the back, stuck back in our skin before we could die completely, and pumped full of oils to slow and halt decay. The other day I saw my wife shambling back from his sarcophagus, unwillingly performing the horrible ritual We Have All been Doomed with Undertaking. When we were young I used to think about how blue her eyes were, I thought that they were Kyne’s themselves; sky nor sea as clear or as beautiful. Now? Blank and pasty, like old mirrors catching a glimpse of light. For the first time In Ever, She stopped in front of me for a moment and stared me right in the eye. Like for a moment she had regained consciousness after So Long. It seemed as if she was quickly and desperately trying to tell or ask me something, before succumbing to the mind-state she’s been in for, Well for, For… gods. I can’t remember my name, my wife was/Is Anna! And my son is.. My Son Is Idvar! I walk cold halls and a tomb of a town, where faces not gaunt or haunting Once loomed. Waiting, waiting for freedom from this Living Death.

Which weapon in Skyrim looks like a langes messer? Or is the sword the ghost is holding from a weapon mod?
