No he's not. Lyon's got wickets all over the world whereas 65% of Herath's wickets were on dustbowls in Sri Lanka.
@@ArchibaldJacobs-i1k I agree. Also given the rules I would swap out Steyn for Ambrose.

I would pick Warne in place of Steyn as you already have two top notch pacers in Akram and Mcgrath to add to that Kallis can chip in with his guile of medium pace. I will go with 3 quicks and 2 spinners. But my keeper would be Sangakkara who could play long inngs compared to Gilly who was more of a dasher at times could cost his wicket

Excellent effort... 👍👍👍👍 Its almost faultless and accurate as per my choice too.. Only two changes I would like to add- 2000s team : I think warne was not in his prime form, so I would like to take Shaun Pollock instead. 1990s team: I think warne was much much more penetrating than Kumble. And Murli was evolving. So I would take Warne as an automatic choice as the only spinner in 90s and Kumble has to sacrifice. These type of arguements are always healthy abd refreshing!!

People knocking Trescothick don't know what they're talking about... the guy was different gravy with the bat. * Fastest player ever (time taken) to 5000 test runs * Averaged 44 in Tests * 14 Test hundreds (Root only has 20 currently with 50 more innings played) * Scored 1000+ runs 3 calendar years in a row (03-05) for England before his mental health issues * 26000+ runs in domestic cricket - absolutely terrorised bowlers for Somerset And just LOOK at the bowlers he had to do it against when playing for England.... His record speaks for itself. Without the mental health issues he'd probably be England's all time top run scorer and would have kept Cook out of the team. Very under-rated player.

My thoughts on one of the discussions......I would say 90s to early 2000 was the best era for cricket .....you had great batmen......best spinners of all time....fastest bowlers.......best swing and seam bowlers.....balls that remain hard for 80 overs....more reverse swing...as you could get away with some ball tempering ....video analysis of batsman weakness.... drastic change in fielding standards....Viv and Gavaskar era comes the closest....yes don bradman was 20 years ahead of his time....as most great batsmen are....but if you watch videos of that time it really feels a lot easier than the modern era....at that time some people have played fc cricket till their late 40s....also less number of countries playing competitive cricket (only England)....history suggests that one player may do extremely well against one country....it is like Ian bell has average of 488 against bangladesh :)........yes Don has done well against other countries but they lack the structure and quality....also their were lack of variety in pitches..like Ponting not able to perform in Indian condition...or Aussie and English batmen faltering in SL ........still if one wants to look at only average...then Don Bradman is GOAT....but cricket is lot more than a number....like why there are selectors to select team...computer can do the same based on player averages.... ...not talking about the current era...let it pan out....:)....I would urge u to watch mid wicket tales...on prime....there are some footage of that era...u see bowling of Vinoo Mankad...considered as one of the best in India...also there are many tales of how unworthy influential players were selected to play.....so my best bet Ponting...Sachin and Lara....Sorry Viv and Gavaskar..:)

Don Bradman also scored all those runs on uncovered pitches. Think about that for a while, a ball jagging left and right, up and down, two paced and averaged 99.
@KonohasOrangeFlash2 жыл бұрын
Deluded, Bradman was the best by far
@tektak24002 жыл бұрын
If Bradman's era was easier, then there would have been many other batsmen averaging 90+ in Test & FC cricket but there were none. ZERO. When one man is so much better than anyone else, in his era or any other era, you have to accept that he was a one & only. That's what makes him stand out above all whereas plenty of there are a ton of players who averaged in the 50's in all eras. Furthermore, Bradman played in era of uncovered pitches, so if it rained last night, you were playing on a mushy pitch, if you think that's easier than modern eras then you need to revisit your assumptions.
@bharatshukla40842 жыл бұрын
He was the greatest player of that era and even 20 30 years ahead of his era...however cricket has become more and more modern..when slight anamoly in one's technique is analysed so much by everyone.. .even ur strength may become ur weakness...look at him bat in old footages...he does not compare to modern era batsman.....we tend to value old things more and exaggerate even more when there are very less recordings......comparing eras I feel 90s were the best as explained above..
@bharatshukla40842 жыл бұрын
also I found 4 players having average of around 60 of that era. there may be more.. they were playing on those uncovered pitches.... as per your logic they would be better than everyone else of this era....
