Im a rangers fan. I don’t particularly like Steve Clarke but I see people saying Clarke isn’t good enough… ok here’s a question who is the only manager for Scotland who has qualified Scotland not once but twice for a major competition. He obviously is good enough. Let’s be serious wer Scotland until euro 2020 we hadn’t qualified since 1998 for anything. Under Clarke we have been promoted in the nations league. We qualified for euro 2020 from play off and better yet we have qualified for euro 2024 straight from the group. We aren’t like England Spain france that the players are used to this. But at least now we are up there in the tournaments.

Why do Rangers and Celtic fans always feel the need to state who they support before coming on a Scotland topic?!?! Club football has nothing to do with the national team.

Just good enough to gub Spain convincingly but not good enough for the euros 😂😂😂 how can it be said that we aren't good enough when we finished 2nd only to Spain. We've lost 3 of our best players and the manager elected not to play his best central midfielder for reasons best known to himself. Notwithstanding the fact that toni kroos has more major trophies than any player on the British Isles on his own. Germany had a world Cup winner on the bench. They will beat most teams in this tournament.
@buildfear95074 ай бұрын
@@craigham93 You answered your own question. Pulling the team together and having a good run of form (thanks almost entirely to McTominay scoring 7 goals) does not make us a good side. We just happened to play well for 5 matches in a row. But we don’t have the players or the ability to play like that or even close to that level every time, or even most of the time. Most of the time we are mediocre and we have players who don’t even get into their starting 11 of mid-table PL teams and sub-standard Championship teams. We aren’t good enough because the players aren’t good enough. It’s that simple. That’s why you’re best to just try and enjoy the fact we’re at the Euros because expecting this team with these players to beat any of the other teams in our group is delusional thinking. They are all head and shoulders above us. Can you imagine this team scudding England 4-0 at Wembley? I can’t - but Hungary did it.
@craigham934 ай бұрын
@buildfear9507 putting a run of form together at international level is one of the most difficult things to do in football because players are seldom together as a team. You're also beholden to what you have to pick from. We are good enough to qualify and that's better than where we were for the previous 20 years. We have good players but they didn't show that the other night. We're clearly nowhere near the top teams and Germany will beat most teams in this tournament in any case. Hungary beat England at molineux, not Wembley. They're a good side and so are Switzerland but we can only improve on our own failings and see where it takes us. As I said, we defeated one of the best teams in the world convincingly, so we are capable.

He spoke to one or two players in the squad whose opinions he values. What kind of message does that send to the other players whose opinions he doesn't value? The guy just says the wrong things all the time, serial loser.....Get Davie Moyes in PLEASE!!!!!

"Hopefully an improved performance" doesn´t fill me with confidence. Clarke seems to come up short in the big matches - Wednesday really is a must not lose - a win would be great but if we can take a point, then a win over Hungary is enough.
@Calgoyt244 ай бұрын
I’d take that yes, although I think we should go out for the win so that the fans can still stay on our side.
@buildfear95074 ай бұрын
We’re going to get horsed again on Wednesday. Our players simply aren’t good enough. We had a good run in qualifying but anybody with a memory longer than 5 years can remember how terrible we’ve been for large portions of time since the late 90s. What I saw on Friday was much more familiar. Much more like us. You’ve all been spoiled by us winning against teams we really shouldn’t have.

'It's a game of emotions'. Clarke hit the nail on the head there, silencing all those fools who thought it was a game of skill, intelligence, athleticism, teamwork, preparation and respect for the opposition. Let no one deny that Scotland's emotional approach has engineered so much of footballing success down the years. Germany's _Raumdeuters_ joyfully romping through the deserted cow pastures on Scotland's flanks over and over again last Friday night only reinforce the point.
