Why are clueless pundits talking about Watkins as if he's a top striker? He has always been a step below title challenging teams. He makes good runs, but misses way too many chances. There is a reason why he has never broken the 20 goal barrier in the Premier League. This year as well he's showing that when he has to step up to play the better sides in Europe, he's not at that level either. If he was 23, you'd suspect that he might have potential, but he's 29 now. Sure, he could go there and it might work, but the evidence is not there to suggest that's likely.

I think they have it wrong. Arsenal put the bid in because they knew the Duran bid was coming. They wanted to give Villa the choice of which they want to keep and which they want to sell. Not exactly the desperation from arsenal they are portraying.
