For people thinking the bullet round should have alerted the guards with supersonic cracks, the bullet would have started at supersonic speed when fired but with the longer distance(which later told in the series that it was 4+ kms), the bullet would have lost the kinetic energy so much that its speed has reduced below supersonic speed hence no crack sound. For the impact sound look at 0:45, the guards are under the wall he shot at it later and protesters are really close, adjacent to the wall. So it is highly unlikely that any guard would have hear it.
@christophersharron69678 сағат бұрын
? I would expect the sound waves overlapping at the start of the bullet's trajectory (which would cause a supersonic crack) wouldn't be affected by the later part of its travels.

That first two test calibrated shots was so risky the spent rounds could of fell from the target and alerted the guards

That's what I thought too, but then I realized, all those protestors are providing quite a bit of audio ambience with their shouting... it would be very unlikely for the guards to hear. The Jackal thought of everything!

Correct - and more importantly the noise of the impacts would be fairly loud and would likely alert the guards.

3:48 Fun fact, shooting a bullet through a seemingly flimsy obstacle such a blade of grass will send t wildly and unpredictably off course.
@BrandenH-O051Күн бұрын
That greatly depends on many factors. Being that close to the muzzle, the curtain isn't going to change much.
@abrahamedelstein480618 сағат бұрын
@@BrandenH-O051 Yeah, No, there is that one factor and it would change the point of impact quite a lot over a large distance. There are plenty of factors that go into making an accurate shot, yes, and a thing that will throw it off, is a piece of fabric, especially that close to the muzzle. Trust me, this is not a hill you want to die on.
@BrandenH-O05114 сағат бұрын
@abrahamedelstein4806 i actually went and read some forums after reading your comment because i didnt want to assume your intelligence. Many people talked about shooting through bushes and twigs and still staying on target, not with every shot, but they were able to complete 3 gun competitions while doing so. I've also even shot bb guns through leaves myself and still hit a bottle. A singular BLADE of grass will not impact a bullet. The weight of even a small .17 caliber bullet is far more than that of a blade of grass.
@abrahamedelstein480613 сағат бұрын
@ Very well, if this is the hill you choose, so be it. Shooting through bushes and twigs does not equate to hitting them and should be avoided because you're making the bullets trajectory UNPREDICTABLE, and this is why anecdotes of people hitting their target by chance means very little because there is clear evidence of contrary. And it's not just the weight of the intermediary medium that impacts the bullet, it's its tensile strength too, now sure, a blade of grass might actually be too light and weak to impact a bullet significantly but I wouldn't put my money on it but something like a twig or a curtain certainly will, and it's usually a lighter and faster bullet that is impacted more. Because there are in your own words, many factors that contribute to a shot, even the Coriolis effect, something doesn't even have to deflect a bullet, merely slowing down it's spin will have an effect. This all to say, a Sniper, not some action shooter or even hunter, would make sure not to shoot through a curtain.
@BrandenH-O05111 сағат бұрын
@abrahamedelstein4806 you are making such a vague argument that it's not even worth trying. I literally said that some of the shots people made, as well the times I have, did not make contact with the target when shooting through foliage. Some did, some didnt. Shooting through twigs and bushes doesn't equat to hitting..... well, yeah, maybe twigs, but you will definitely be making an impact with some type of foliage shooting through most "bushes" Again, there are lots of factors like the density of said plant foliage. A 2in branch on an oak tree will very likey defelct most bullets. A single leaf from a maple tree, not at all. Unless you are shooting such a lightweight bullet at such a far distance that it wouldn't be effective at doing anything but make a hole in some paper All this to say something you could have said in a singular sentence..... wow, how very moot of you.

The film is well-made, but what’s truly unsettling is how it encourages us to empathize with the killer rather than the agent. It subtly sets priorities that nudge us toward accepting such behavior as normal, even mirroring it in real life. That’s the truly frightening aspect.

I know the scene depicted is fictional, but do people who shoot with scoped weapon really have both eyes opened when taking a shot? Or it's just a matter of preference? Also, I'm assuming those are subsonic rounds since people below where he made the calibration shots could not hear it?
@Warrior1Spartan3 күн бұрын
From what I understand, yes they do. That way, they can see through the scope as well as anything around them as well. And they probably were subsonic.
@WestieRunner3 күн бұрын
I'm not competitive any longer but used to shoot long range rifle for Great Britain. It is very common for rifle shots to keep both eyes open as closing the off eye increases the strain on the aiming eye and affects the diameter of the pupil which can have an impact on sight picture. Less important for target rifle shots like me, but much more important for soldiers is that it also allows you be more situationally aware. I kept both eyes open but had a "blinder" made of translucent plastic in front of my non-aiming eye. That said, I do know some very good rifle shots who close their off eye. If he's using something like a 338 Lapua Magnum then the bullets start out supersonic and are going to be subsonic by ~1800 yards give or take so they have been subsonic for a long time before they reach the target even having started out at something like 2780fps. He's also using what appears to be a moderator (silencer) on the rifle which will significantly cut down on the muzzle blast. The reality is that a big calibre like this will still make a hell of a bang even with a moderator.

The assination is always the (relatively) easier part. It's the getting away afterwards which is the real trick and that's what they were paying for. He even said it himself in the film at the original meet in the hide. But the offer was 10 mill initially. It's him who said he wanted 10x that to take it on. The value of anything is only ever it's worth to the customer. And they wanted him gone bad. Anyway the UDC hit was hardly a peice of cake. 2 miles out aboard a moving boat. But remember this is all fiction so who can ever say 😁
@RamachandranSrinivasanКүн бұрын
@paolocoletti3424 You are correct absolutely, my point is that if the hit was an easy target (meaning getting agency's help and having insiders help from all corners) it could have been done with an ordinary hit man than super star sniper, at least for the UDC. Even the first target(this video) was a very very difficult one from the distance perspective, there were enough ground support. I liked the series and watched it twice. Looking forward to seeing the Season 2

Absofrickinglutely brilliant script, casting and sets. Literally, a re-watch kinda series! Eddie has John Wick technical skills and tremendously surgical plans to assassinate his targets. The inner story, is rather chilling. A man caught between the world of digressing into a dispassionate psychopath who likes money. A young father and loving husband, with a self-centered wife and infant child. His Achilles heel is he cares…… Set aside 10 hours, and you will never look back! Best series since Queens Gambit!

Nicely done but I wish they would use technical advisors. The rifle is fictional but he uses fairly large ammo meaning that it is unlikely to be sub-sonic considering the distance of the hit. The test shoots would have been very loud and warned the guards. Also aiming with both eyes open, why?
@paolocoletti3424Күн бұрын
No the round would easily have to have been supersonic at nozzle for that distance. And the rifle did have a suppressor on it tho (for any good that would do) . But hell yes loud it would still have been for him for sure. But then it's only fiction and they always take a LOT of licence.
