getting me motivated to get my little ttr125l back running again, Was my first dirtbike, sadly she's not ran in a good 5 years. All she needed back then was a carb rebuild and a tube.

In the late 70's early 80's we all had Honda four stokes. They were cheap and parts were plentiful. We would trade for parts or find them at the motorcycle junkyard. They were also quiet enough that we could be away with riding them on the street to get to our riding areas. That was a nice win for us old guys getting that Honda running!

Boy oh boy, that cam sprocket looked pretty rough. It mighta been time for a new one. I had a 1975 Honda CR125 Elsinore growing up and it was pretty beat when I took ownership. But it was a good ole bike to learn to ride on. Made me really appreciate a new bike, with a new clutch. Thanks for bringing back those memories Chad.

I have a old quad runner outside my doorway under almost twelve feet of snow, hasn't been started in about two or more years. I got to do something this year for fun. Who knows, maybe I can break my one good arm a my legs don't work so put a tank shifter on it. Brings on some great memories of days well gone by. I had a new 750 Royal Enfield bike that as you know, the Britt's put the shifter on the right side and brake on the left. I foolishly let someone ride my new bike, not even two hundred miles on it. Did my best to explain what each lever on this bike did. He rode down the road nice and easy and did so good that I let him take one more lap. He comes ripping back and hit the shifter in his brain, it was the brake of course and wiped out my bike... I couldn't beat him to death for wrecking my bike as he laid in the hospital for months on deaths bed. Before he gets out, his lawyers contacted me with a lawsuit for a million dollars. I wound up paying him two hundred thousand out of pocket. It took me four years to pay a banker back that was a personal friend or he and I would have different endings to this tale. He would be buried next to his other short memory family and I would be a queen in some prison knowing my luck. At the time of this, I was still de training from being in the army olympics and was a giant of a man who never knew I had shoulders till I was nearly forty. I feared nothing figuring if a VC never killed me, few fellows of this side of the planet could not hurt me. Took a few real dandy battles for me to realize they come back in numbers and not small numbers. I will say that till they got more than five good sized goons.... I beat the holy heck out of some slow learners myself. I took the engine off of my bike and built a frame out of molly tubing and lets just say on the highway, nothing including my own cars could touch that rascal. Only four gears but so close together and if you missed a shift, it floated the valves and bent every last one of them. I spent more building this little four wheeler go kart than it would cost at the time for a brand new truck. I was working for Bendix corporation and made way way too much money plus had all of their equipment to use at any time including work hours. Its a job that I should of kept but I just ain't a company man. I got a check from them for ten thousand dollars saying my job was open anytime I wanted to come "home" with a home, salary, and company truck. I went to alaska where men are men and the women are loose as in you just lost your turn. I couldn't work with that share system so loved alaska, but stayed single. I really do miss my harley

I started seriously learning mechanics when I got a Honda 50 sport when I was 12, up until the newer stuff I learned took up the space in my head I could tell you what size fastener and where it was on all the bikes I rode, how the gearbox restacked, thrust washers or thrust and other type bearings were, etc. I still would not worry about pulling any apart, ordering parts, and re-aasembling them from memory. 😁 👍🇺🇸😎

Yes their called tang adjustment tabs. That adjust& levels out the floats inside the float blows. Now those carburetor's air fuel screws set 21/2 turns out to sync them altogether as one unit set-up the idle screws half to be set the same on them to. Their usually 11/2 turns out to.

Two things you can do when checking for valve leakage with the head off on a 4 stroke engine fill the intake and exhaust ports then then check the chamber for leaks ,use a solvent based liquid Alcohol, or add a few drops of liquid soap to water to break the surface tension of the water

you didn't check the piston ring end gaps in the bore. as for the carbs, you should take the float needle out. if it's not rubber or viton tipped then it's most likely got a wear groove/circle on the taper. you could dress it up, put it in a drill etc. then take the brass holder out, there is usually a little filter on the end. maybe dirty. good luck from perth scotland y'all !

Try running the grounds together as one body ground input. I recommend some marvel mystery oil& some gum out octane booster. Hey have you ever DIY at home ethanol free fuel before. The KZbin channel shows you how to remove the ethanol out the gasoline witch will lower the octane level yes until after the other process is completed first. Then you can add A little of both marvel mystery oil& octane booster back into your ethanol free gasoline fuel to raise the levels up again without having the ethanol in your fuel afterwards to.

Actually you set the level by measuring float height or by doing the clear tube method like I showed. The straightness of the tab has nothing to do with it.

Try running some ethanol free gasoline fuel high grade in that dirt bike premixed.,or unless it's A automatic oiler injection line into the carburetor to. This modern fuel draws in moisture out of the air into the fuel tank. I'd try marvel mystery oil.& Some ethanol free gasoline fuel it's bad on those carburetor's. Hopefully you get that dirt bike back running like new again.
