Are you kidding us???! He was concerned about the “perception “ of the company?!!? As if this means ANYTHING!!!! He should have been concerned about how the company policies negatively impacted their customers!!! I worked in corporate, government and crisis communications at the highest levels for a decade. By all accounts, This company has appalling practices that destroy people’s health , wellbeing and their very lives. The “perception” is NOT the problem! The “perception” is apparently entirely accurate. Please give an accurate assessment of this situation. Healthcare in America is a morass of unnecessary hurdles & minefields to insure that the insurance companies don’t have to pay out. Anyone experiencing a real health issue has experienced this. Please do not conflate the impression of something with the actual reality, as you have in this report. I am ashamed of you.

Brian Thompson total compensation was $9.6 million in 2021, $9.8 million in 2022, and $10.2 million in 2023. @Supersquishyawesomeness 2 сағат бұрын
It’s not just MSM that is confused. Some of us regular people are amazed at the audacity of folks with their sob stories of denial. Thinking you are entitled to any procedure or treatment is just delusional. It’s a privilege to access healthcare, not a right. I’ve known I was too poor for any serious illness or injury my entire life. When I eventually get sick, I’m going to die. I’m not going to have access to treatments or rehabilitation. This is just reality. It doesn’t matter how much I work or where I work these things are just not available to me and most of the population. Most are lying to themselves thinking they are being denied something they were never entitled to.

Some really compare McDonald to the health care industry? Bro, don’t be silly. We pay premiums to insurance companies because we expect them to have our back if we ever need the. Paying hundreds if not thousands of dollars a month without ever knowing if we’ll get our moneys worth is not the same as going to McDonald’s where we’d spend 5 to 10 bucks for a quick snack to eat right there and then. Even if its not life or death, denying a medical procedure your doctor decides is necessary is scummy. No one is going to die from not getting a knee replacement, but their ability to enjoy activities, go to work, see their friends/family, and even just walk around their house is negatively impacted. Insurance companies denying a claim like that because they don't think its bad enough yet is disgusting

Why not talk about the fact UH delayed payment for so long that many doctors offices would go bankrupt then they’d up and buy those offices? Why not talk about the fact pre approval was given only to them months later send a bill after a re review? Why not talk to the family members of people who are DEAD because their insurance claims were denied? Why not talk about how UHG bought up every aspect of the medical industry that they controlled everything from the moment a UH member stepped into a doctors office?

This man profited off of other peoples pain. Plain and simple. I dont condone murder but that should be illegal too. Health insurance companies are the biggest scam, and they should never have had the right or authority to deny care for any reason. Medical care should be between patient and doctor, not their insurance company. But we should also be blaming pharmaceutical companies for their obscene prices on patented drugs and treatments, and the govt for not regulating health care costs.

Just being real...if I'm a doctor (and I have several in my family)...if I'm the first set of eyes to review a claim, hopefully I will read at least some of it (if not a quick skim). But, if I'm told a fancy AI system now does the first review, and it's only my job to give the "human" stamp of approval on what AI has already determined, and I'm told the AI is much "smarter" than me...the realities of a heavy workload are going to lead me to just start approving everything AI recommends. You think insurance companies won't exploit the h*ll out of AI that leads to increased denials?? They will dump millions into such technology, because it will make them tens of millions more. The doctors & nurses won't see an increased paycheck. The independent clinics won't see an increased paycheck. The "savings" will go to the CEOs & controlling partners.

Yeah its not that anyone sees murder as right, its just that everyone has spent the last couple decades watching the insurance companies bowl over people's lives for profit with 0 repercussions or accountability that they believe this is likely the only instance of anyone holding them accountable that we are going to see. The media response makes it pretty clear that anyone who could make real and lasting changes will go right back to letting insurance companies do whatever they want as soon as this dies down
