I learned more about lowering a truck from this video than the last 20 I clicked on. Took all the mystery out of it and gave me a true understanding of this technique of c-notching, of which I had heard of but did not know what exactly it meant. Thanks for sharing.

Oh thank you for sharing the video and your truck came out nice I think it's low enough where you can still use it as a truck. I built with help a 1972 GMC Suburban that took about 7 year's I drove it while I worked on it. The first thing that was done to it was new brake system, rebuilt the engine new cooling system. Then from there slowly working on the other stuff pretty much replaced everything on it. I gave it to my nephew he still owns it I told him he can not sell it he has to pass it on to one of his brother's or many of his cousin's if he can no longer to afford her. I spent way to much time building that suburban and done most of the work myself. I can see if I didn't have no time invested in the 1972 GMC Suburban 3 door. I had many other car's and truck's before and after that one but never put that much time and money into it more time than money finding new and used parts. I had a 1979 GMC SHORT BOX all I did with that truck was rebuilt the engine lowerd it and put chrome steelies wheels on it and drove that truck for 13 year's. I had to sell it because I had to many vehicles and I had to down size between me and my brother are front yard looked like a used car lot

@makingsensewithsteve36205 жыл бұрын
A few things on pinion angle. You started with a lwb which is a 2 piece driveshaft. You cut the truck down to a Swb which is a single drive shaft. You also lowered the truck. The proper way to establish pinion angle was to measure angle of the driveshaft prior to any mods and reestablish angles based on the new settings adjusting for differences. In other words you had -6 at both ends BUT you had a carrier bearing. You should have measured driveshaft angle for the both the front and back of the driveshaft. After your mods you want a driveshaft that stays less than 15°. Again this is driveshaft not yoke. So if you are -6° at the transmission you want nothing more than -9° at the pinion. The lower the angle the better. With your -6° and -7° you are at 13°. Almost max for u-joint range. Had you set pinion at 0° you would have a total of -6°. Less than half of u-joint range.
