The second collar is for the lower spring perch

I maybe thought that but here's my reasoning: 1. Lower spring perch is threaded and tightens against the single top collar. It's already adjusted for preload and tightened from factory (i checked) 2. The way the two bottom collars face (one side being flat and one side being rounded) indicates that the two bottom collars should be used to lock on the lower portion of the shock. Just as I did in the video. Since the flat sides were facing downwards. 3. All 4 coilovers had the same orientation and placement for the collars. 4. Other install pictures of these coilovers on the w220 also show the two stacked collars on the bottom portion of the coilover. @@OffBeatGarage Could very well be! As long as there's a locknut/collar locking the lower spring perch in place you're fine :)

​@@Alex_Lamus_99 is right in this one. Bottom shock body is threaded. which is what you need to lock with only 1 collar. Think of the 2 nut rule when you remove a stud: the bottom shock body is the "first nut" and the bottom locking collar is the "second nut" which locks the 2 together. The upper locking collar needs to lock the spring perch together. Springs spin as they compress. You don't want a spring spinning the perch on a threaded body... because, it's either going to potentially raise or lower the spring perch and alter the preload and ride height which will lead to either ramping up the preload, raising the car and wrecking the shock or winding the spring down and lowering the car as you drive. Common sense stuff.

Bro, that happened to mine! It raised itself to maximum height and my mechanic couldn't even lower it even with the Mercedes diagnostics computer. He actually did get it to lower slightly only to have it raise again like Lazarus right before our eyes! He couldn't figure it out! The ride was bone jarring as well!! I sold it with the quickness!

I think that 2nd locking ring is suppose to butt up against the spring perch so it doesnt move and mess.with preload. Could be wrong since I've never dealt with yello speed but I've heard good thing about them in the 240 scene

I'm doing it right now but I'm told you should put a load on the suspension before you tighten all and big boats up.What do you think

7:50 Preload on the cheaper coilovers is not messd after hight adjustment ... it simply sits lower but ur right about the shocktravel thats available

I have a Cl600 and have the Strutmasters on it, do not recommend them the rear will be jacked up and the front will sag into the wheels. So thinking about these CEIKA ones.

Bro I know I have a s55 its 2001 and its all different outside body kit and inside and different motor shape without supercharge and exhaust sound different Im telling yours is a S500 or s550
