Dark Wolf seems like people commonly mix up brutal death metal (without slams) with deathcore. I personally can't understand why. People say the same stuff about Stillbirth and they sure as hell aren't deathcore either.

Been following Guttural Slug for some time now; since the release of "Megalodon". I definitely think their sonic evolution is a good thing. This album is savage! The production is crushing and the bludgeoning rhythms and sledgehammer-riffs take no prisoners. Very cool.

Though it had some mixed reviews I felt it was a good and much needed transition for the band. They just took a much more modern type approach to their sound. I look at Megalodon and Plague of Filth as two separate entities and this album as a new and refreshing chapter in the bands discography. Their first two albums resembled something close to Waking the Cadaver where as this one feels more like something closer to Analepsy, Extermination Dismemberment, or Organectomy. But this particular sub genre has changed alot in the last 7 years between those two albums. So you can't blame them for adapting to stay relevant. Besides I never care for the same album twice.
