You can actually make up a story between the lyrics of this EP. In 'You don't even know me' the two lovers are having a misunderstanding or a miscommunication in their relationship. I imagine the two seperate beat drops as a conversation, one is compassionate and intimate while the other is reckless and merciless. In 'Running to you' both of them understand they are bound together and nothing can't stop them from departing, the lyrics says so. This song just solidifies the point that even though they have been through some past mistakes, they still desire each other's company. Just look at the lyrics and try to understand, this is my opinion anyways.

Not quite sure how to feel about this one, like many of SLANDER's tracks there is some great work outside of the drops, Dylan brings a great performance and the melodies on the guitar and piano are smooth and great. But the drop.. I don't know what it is with SLANDER and making a drop that have very little to do with the rest of the song, but this one isn't an exception to that, I would have loved to hear this with a melodic drop that fit more with the tone of the rest of the track. What they did for the first drop of "You Don't Even Know Me" was great for example.

It sucks that this track suffers the exact same issues as Slander’s previous release with Spag Heddy. Amazing off drop and stunning vocal performance with a terrible, jarring drop that doesn’t really do much justice for the whole song.

I understand what you're meaning. But I think they just made this drop so hard for something like a surprising effect. The first time I heard this song the drop literally blew me away (positively) I first also expected a drop like of "Scared to be lonely", but I still love this surprising drop that just is so hard and a contrast to the rest of the song so that the song has a nice message, but still goes big on huge stages Don't know if this sounds understandable 😅

Joks I think there’s a difference between a GOOD song and one I LIKE. Not gonna lie I really liked Nitro Fun- Home yet people rejected it because it wasn’t his style and hated on it so much to a point where Monstercat didn’t accept his tracks for MONTHS until he made a vip for one of his top tracks (I’m still sorry about that happening to poor Gus 😞)The song was bad for a Nitro Fun release but as a song it was actually alright. Same for Grant- The Edge, not really Grant but it’s a great song and really is “best of” quality. However, as a Grant song it’s not the best. Slander is trying to go from 0 to 100 to 0 way too fast. They could do a lot better with the way they blend their unconvincing melodic stuff with their cookie cutter heavy stuff. No, it’s not hate, it’s true. I’m not gonna lie, I love Stonebank but his stuff is literally copy & paste (same with Darren Styles except he also sings). Slander is inconsistent with their releases which is why people are so hard on them, are they the only inconsistent artists on the label? No, Pegboard Nerds is also inconsistent at times, if I see Tia simone on the title then I’m prepared for a bad song. There’s a difference between good and something you enjoyed. I loved the Disconnected VIP but I will admit the song is an extremely bad VIP. I like some bad songs, you like this song. It doesn’t flow very well, stop calling it good. Not “best of” quality, if slander does make it onto Best of 2018 I hope it’s with Riot because that’s literally the only good song they’ve made this year. Now, is it the only song I liked by them this year? Nope, somehow Happy Now grew on me and I like that one now but it won’t change that it’s an ok track. I loved Trivecta- Axis but I’m not gonna say it’s best of 2018 because it’s really not, as much as I like it it doesn’t sound very unique. Songs like the Riot collab, Pixel Terror- Machina, Grant- The Edge are ones that are good because of the way they were produced and how well it all works and would be more worthy of being on Bo2018. It’s been a bit harsh, yes, but I think that instead of having slander coming back so often they should have other members back. They’re becoming one of those artists that you see and you’re unsure about whether it’s going to be a song by them or a song with another artist that pretty much takes the spotlight for them. It’s extremely tough criticism (from my view) because if a family member doesn’t release anything good then they’re usually gone for a while and come back with a redeeming song (SMLE- Halo and Nitro Fun- Home for example). But if you like a song go ahead and like/love it. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However don’t call a song good like it’s a fact if you can’t say why. If you can say why a song like this or Aero Chord- Play Your Part is good and have people agree with your opinion then yea, the song would be good. But sadly there’s nothing the stood out from this song besides Dylan Matthew for me.

I like the drop in this a lot more than Running To You, though it still suffers a bit from repetitiveness. The melodic elements on the other hand are great, and Dylan continues to be a favorite vocalist of mine. This album overall is a compelling idea, but I think YDEKM is the most successful at executing it in a fresh and interesting way while the other two kinda fall flat. Surprised that there's only three tracks in this EP - I feel like there was a lot of untapped potential.

This EP isn't a complete wreck, but when only one track is better than the others, that's not a good sign. (I wonder if I should do rankings...) You Don't Even Know Me - SLANDER and RIOT are duos I didn't think would work, with the two being so night and day. But you know, I'm really glad they stomped out my expectations, and this tune was just amazing. The accompanying vocals are really on point, and gives it life. Though it does turn heavy in that second drop, it actually works out cause it was introduced a bit better. It's a definite contender for BO2018 but I wouldn't make the call just yet. | 9/10 Running to You - Vocals? They're good, but they're brought down by the vocal samples in the drop. Not only that, but the drops suffer poorly from repetition. I'm just not really impress with how this was delivered, and therefore falls short. | 5/10 Hate Being Alone - Dylan Matthew's vocal performance is actually really nice and give the song good shape. However, it's like Running to You where the heaviness just goes right into it. I can't say that I like this, but it's just not up to my tastes I guess. (who am I, corbin?) | 6/10 I guess I had a feel for Melodic Dubstep the entire way with this EP because of the theme and emotion. I really wasn't expecting two dirty songs.
