@@ThomasAtzinger Both by the sound and by the fact that the video includes it, they do have mics set up so that they are recording the sound of the whole group of drums, not a singular set. They have condensers set at an overhead position such that it captures the whole group of drums. Ofc, they also have close mics on at least one set of drums, to beef up the sound a bit. But the overhead condensers (I can see 4 of them spread across the whole group of drummers) are the bulk of the sound you hear.

Lol, no.He is a very good bass player, but dont put him there. He first needs to constantly come up with albums and compositionsso good that will be recognized as "standards" for bass guitar players(and not only if possible) and influence generations. After that play them live at the largest festivals . Or, come up with a unique touch , or a unique technique.As much as I respect Charles and love what he is doing, and get inspired by him from time to time, all of this was done by wooten and Abraham Laboriel on bass, some of it by Stanley Jordan on guitar , Marcus Miller etc.. There are bass players in the world with insane musical awareness.They can like hear a 13/16 groove full of non-functional harmony, and play it at first hearing without preparation, and get the harmony aswell. Not only that, but they can also improvise with flow on the spot on top of it. There is still a long road until he should be considered one of the best players of all time....bruh..so long

You have in short order become the greatest bass player in history. Your slap technique is monstrous, but it’s your musicality and warmth that is inspirational. Keep at it Charles, I suspect that having reached the stars, you’re heading for the galaxies beyond. Sensational.

You can know 1 millione techniques, but a discography of compositions which are so good that are considered standards and influenced generations is what puts a player among the greatest of all time.Charles is a very good bass player. There are alot of very technical bass players that can do all that Charles is doing.And i am not saying that in order to take away something from Charles , but please, he has couple of universes to go until he reaches the realm of Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Mark King, Jaco Pastorius, Hadrien Feraud, MAlaman or Anton Davidyants

This is absolutely amazing! Putting aside the excellent bass for a moment; the groove is so tightly played by the drummers I had trouble telling that these were real drummers and not overdubs at times.

Charles, *please* post the actual ambient audio of the drummers since we're obviously not hearing all of them on this track. Would love to hear what all those kits sound like playing at the same time. And how on earth were you able to make this happen, anyway?
@cooperised
@cooperised Жыл бұрын
To be fair the ambient audio would be a hot mess, just because of the physical distance between the drummers. Even if they're all playing perfectly in sync the speed of sound will spread them all out from any given listening point.
@BassByTheBay
@BassByTheBay Жыл бұрын
@@cooperised Yes, I'm sure. That's partially why I'd like to hear it -- would like to know what Charles _really_ had to play over 😊. I'm sure it wasn't bad, but that's a _lot_ of drums, and even if they're all great players, it obviously won't be as tight as the track Charles used for the video. But I mainly would just like to hear what that many kits sound like -- never heard that many play simultaneously IRL.
@rosonowski
@rosonowski Жыл бұрын
If the drummers were all playing to the same click track, you could probably make it pretty tight.
@cooperised
@cooperised Жыл бұрын
@@rosonowski I'm sure they were, and that's the only way to manage something like this. Let's say the mic was in the middle, and the furthest drummer was 20 yards away (conservative estimate based on the video). The speed of sound would cause a delay of around 60ms, which is extremely audible. Maximum delay edge to edge would be 120ms. Playing in time by listening and following would be literally impossible.
