Lyrics: Hey, everybody! In the short video, i'm going to try my best to teach you everything that i know about playing slap. It's gonna go in! So the cool thing about playing slap, it's that it's very percussive, absolute like playing drums, since i love like mixing playing the drum and playing the guitar at the same time. Kinda like what i'm doing now! So let's start from the beginning, with the thumb. Gonna have your thumb, kinda flick on the rist, and smack it into the strings. Kinda like the bony side of the thumb. But the real hero here is the left hand, which stopping on the other strings that i don't wanna play from playing. So you'll see i want fretting some notes i want there. I'll also got a finger stopping the other strings muting them from also playing. And if i don't do that, it not really what i'm looking for. So i find it while i'm playing slap, usually concentrating more on the notes that i'm not wanting to play, and the notes that i do want to. But that's not all you can do with your left hand. Another important part is to use the left hand to get some dead notes here. And dead note is when you playing a string, but you don't get a regular note, you just hitting like a drum, like i'm doing now. I got my index finger going over all the string and then the other three just hitting into them. You can also get some dead notes with your thumb. That's i does it now. When you playing slap, most of the notes you're gotta be playing or dead notes, very percussive. Now i'm hitting them, another jack need to get a dead note. That's why you take your finger on your right hand bring it underneath the string, and you smack it into the fretboard, and it gives you a cool like snare drum sound. Yeah, i said that in. And you don't need to just use it to get dead notes here. You do also get in to get some regular notes. Let's try that now! Now brings us to the next point is octave. So, if you're playing a note right here with your index finger, two frets over, two strings up, you got the second note there, using a higher octave. And slap players, especially slap bass players would then hit alone now with the thumb and pop the high one. Sound something like this: If it's feels right, get their sound so right. I'm gonna have trouble with this now, it's a little bit harder on the guitar, but at least, I'll be lag excusing now. But feels a little bit better on bass because the strings are a little bit further apart. Now lets move on to something that's a bit more gear for the guitar, and having strings really close together. This is something i call sprinting. So instead of having my hand over here (my right hand), i can bring it into the fretboard, still hitting with my thumb, but on obstroke, I'm hitting with my ring finger. Someone kinda like this. Kinda like strumming, but a little bit more hectic. You can do some different, you know, rhythms with it. It's pretty useful with some notes. I also like to add in my middle finger to get some triplets like that, throw that in there. I started calling it buffering to the sprinting. Cause it kinda sounds like, you know, as old cartoons, with the character with one of run-off screenroom quick, and the feature into the little tornado. Kinda sounds like that: I also use this with a bit of strumming like that. Really anyway you can get a dead note. It's all fair game. So back to the octave we doing earlier. You got that index finger there, two frets over, two strings up, you got a octave. But more specific to the 8-string, another reason why i love playing slap on the 8-string is that you take the same relationship two frets over, bringing all the way over the top. You got another octave, but now three octaves up. But i won't play that note on it soon the high note. I play that two times strings at the same fret, and it feels very similar to that octave check we drove. And it sounds pretty cool! That was some sprinting. Feels pretty good on the 8-string. Also, instead using the top two notes, you use the top three. And you got a cool mindy thing going on. And that is pretty much everything i know about playing slap. And you can just put it all together! So, i hope you enjoy the video, and i hope you enjoy the giving keys without the instrument. Yeah, thanks for watching! That was a good one! Yeah, i think that's it, i think that's it! Thanks y'all! Yeah, so going some food! Yeah, i think that's you, i think that's you! All the cameras are recording and the audio are recording? Sweet!

very impressive, Rob. I can barely even just conversate with someone while playing a simple rhythm. it blows my mind how you can juggle playing slap guitar on an 8 string, kick the drums, and give an entire lesson over it all. It was seemingly flawless. Well done! ty for the tips and lesson. I want to start learning how to play slap now
