I'm kinda glad Axl had the balls to rebuild the band, but with the new lineup, it feels like its just all about Axl. In a perfect world they would have a reunion, make squillions of dollars from it, and show us how cool it would be to see Slash and Axl make nice.

It's amazing how Slash and Duff have no self awareness of their part in Guns n Roses breakup. Slash and Duff were alcoholics and junkies who were waisted on the entire Use Your Illusions tour. You can read both of their books and they can't seem to realize it must have been horrible for Axl and Izzy to deal with them. Steven had been fired for being on drugs and not being able to play. Maybe that should been a sign to straighten up. Slash died in hotel lobby only to be brought back by pandemics. Duff blacked out when they played Czechoslovak leaving the band. After the tour Duff's pancreas swelled and Slash had to have deliberator put in heart. Dancing with Mr. Brownstone killed the band. Axl keep it going by himself.

sorry guys, I loved GNR very much and will not question the fact that Axl had a vision for the band but guess what, he was at the root of the problem - after izzy left the band lost a lot of its creative drive and never really recovered; after slash and duff were kicked out and Axl took over, what happened? Duff and Slash remained friends and did stuff whilst Axl couldn't get anybody to stay on board his project and spent 10 years making an album that isnt all that hot.

They are right about alot in this video. But to be fair to Axl (and yes, you have to be), Slash and Duff were a handful also. They both loved to drink (see the AMA awards) and I believe they were loaded (no pun intended) most of the time on stage during that time. You can't say they were only drunk to deal with Axl. They obviously enjoyed it and I understand Axl's point of view of being difficult to communicate and work with them in that state.

appetite wouldn't have been appetite without Slash's guitars and solos, if you take Think About you and remove the cool guitar riffs and solo, then you get a very plain song with sappy lyrics. I love Slash, but everything he has said in the past, particularly the late 1990s until the mid to late 2000's, I personally just take with a pinch of salt. For example in this particular interview he says, "That from 1989-1990 until 1993, it was just an exercise in tenaciousness". I think he is looking back in hindsight. Because in my opinion, respectfully, I think if that was the case, then Slash would have just left GN'R almost immediately after the Use Your Illusions World Tour was over in July, 1993. If they were his true thoughts on the band etc. So yeah to me, it's Slash looking back in hindsight. Or on the otherside of the coin, if I may play the devil's advocate here. Maybe Slash thought that there was a glimmer of hope post Use Your Illusions World Tour, that things may change for the better, but unfortunately from his side and perspective on things they didn't, to Slash if anything, things just got worse. 1988 to 1990 the "gang" bought houses, Izzy bought 5 Harley, they had wifes and all. So since 1990 they were just basically 5 superstars with press and Geffen pulling their balls, no way you could remain a gang of brothers. First firing Steven, symbolic. then Izzy quits drugs, travels all the time and quit the band...outch. Who knows why Axl got worse, but he was known to try and own the band ( supposedly after witnessing Mick Jagger rule the stones every details like a CEO) AND push it to a next level ( horns, keys...) Why not! bad attitude ? maybe. Slash remain humble, but maybe musically in the same old place, when grunge was seducing kids. he got really fed up and left. the end. THEY ALL GOT AWAY and didn't really had the nerves and love to hold to each other and face new trends. I did LISTEN to Chinese Democracy. Most people just heard it. When you listen, you find out that there are some great songs: Better, IRS, Street of Dreams, Sorry, and This I Love. Some very good songs: (Title Track), Catcher In The Rye, Riad N' the Bedouins, Madagascar. Some Ok songs: If the World, There Was a Time, Prostitute, and a few songs that are ok to a point, but mostly clunkers: Scraped, and Shackler's Revenge. If you just want to think it sucks....it's your loss.

@shelbyswellhung9 yeah, but it was axl's power hungryness that destroyed the band? from the very start, even appetite, he was crazy. anyone who defends him, honestly doesnt know the full story, because what he did, cant be defended to be honest. he made everyone bar himself 'hired help', with him in control to kick out anyone, for any reason he could come up with. he destroyed the band. also, fuck yeah, id go see them. sure axls voice is great, but there are others haha hes not some lone angel
