Really you cannot compare any guitarists. They all have their unique way of playing. Which is what we grew up with, Listened too and brought us great songs. Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Chuck Berry, Randy Rhoads ♥ (died too young) and all the other guitarists. You all have a special place that gave us rock. Cheers to you all.. Rock will never DIE!!!

Well not really. GnR plays really similar stuff to Poison. I mean, sure, they happen to be more bluesy than Poison, but both bands have this L.A. glam sound. Plush Slash and CC have very similar guitar tones, if not the same guitar tone.

You can compare them, Slash was almost in the band Poison. Prior to becoming a member of GNR he auditioned for Poison, along with CC DeVille, making down to the last two. Well we all know who Poison chose as guitarist and the rest they say is history.

CC is the kid in all of us, he plays with fun and passion, all over the place and bright. His playing is amazing and a highlight of the 80s style of guitar. Slash is more the older us, more tame and slower but still can get the job done. Both are amazing in their own way.

His studio work is phenomenal. He gets pretty wild live but nobody can deny how great his playing is. The album Flesh and Blood is some of his best work.

I think CC talent didn't shine through as much for what ever reason wrong producer .Because that first album Evan though it sold great numbers .It was made on the down cheap .And the producer was well known for getting band with out alote of studio experience finish there albums on time and under budget so there was problem not a lot of time spent on his parts .Play it lay down move on and it still a bad ass recorded.

Truth be told, CC and Slash both auditioned for the Poison gig which obviously CC ended up winning. Doesn't mean he was necessarily better, but just a better fit for their style of music.....and he wasn't afraid to put the make up on which I think Slash struggled with. Regardless, it would be interesting to hear all the Poison songs with Slash on guitar and the Guns songs with CC

I think what makes a lot of CC's solo's fun, energetic and interesting is he uses a lot of old school rockabilly stuff in his solo's. Something Slash doesn't give us, Slash to me is a chill guitarist that kind sits back in the pocket and is very blues based with his solos. CC in one solo can have rockabilly, blues, jazz and EVH type tapping/techniques. And it all comes together in a really cool melodic fun solo that works.

CC, he stands out way more, blues, rockabilly, some jazz and even classical influences in his style of playing. He has more tricks and techniques in his bag than Slash. However, for what slash does, he's obviously great, but I prefer CC's solo's over Slash's

Both fantastic guitar players... I actually had the opportunity to hang out with C.C. and Steve Lukather (Toto) and C.C. was surprisingly humble enough to say to me.... "Anything I can play, he can play with his toes!" C.C. is also one of the funniest bastids out there! There is a reason Sam Kinison loved hanging out with him! (I met Sam as well... God they were hilarious together!)

They are both great in their own right but I’m not sure how anyone here is comparing slash solos to CCs. Like almost every slash solo in Guns N’ Roses are iconic and memorable. I can’t remember to many CC solos even thought he plays fantastic. I feel slash just create more memorable solos. Plus you can tell when it’s a slash riff he has an iconic sound that most guitar players try to replicate to where they had no choice but to create a slash line with Gibson les Paul’s MXR pedals Marshall amps to even software to record to get his iconic sound. Although CC was and probably still fantastic. I don’t think he can hold a candle to slash. Even comparing both bands Guns N’ Roses just is a better band. How many bands out there can say they have a perfect iconic album. There aren’t to many perfect albums out there. Appetite for destruction is one of the best albums ever made. There isn’t one bad song on that album.

Ironically, it’s these two guitarists that got me into playing guitar. Not that I have anywhere near the talent that either of them have, but I’d say my style is more like Slash’s. Much love and respect for them both. Agree with comments here about Life Goes On solo being CC’s best, but he has a lot of great solos. Every Rose’s solo is just an absolute soulful solo and fits so perfectly with the song. And Estranged is among my favorite guitar work from Slash.

I've always loved both these guys. Slash is a very soulful player that tugs at your heartstrings, but I think CC has a sort of more dynamic, charisma when it comes to just plain fun songs. I think they each have their strengths we love them for. From a technical standpoint, my Dad (who plays several stringed instruments) tells me they're both sloppy :/ I would've compared "I Won't Forget You" to "November Rain".

It’s a difficult thing to compare consider the vast difference stylistically. Personally I prefer Slash’s playing style, I think it’s more emotional & more memorable. His solo’s were David Gilmour/vocal like, but I’ll admit he worked out of the pentatonic scale quite a bit. C.C. was more exotic & is more technically proficient as his sweeping/tapping/string skipping etc, is superior to Slash, but he was also sloppy at times. His solo in “Life Goes On” is one of the great solos ever. I’d still take Slash if I was starting a band though...

I love both , I learned guitar playing both. I like Slash better but I still play cc, is easier to play than slash . Cc is cleaner each note can be 👂so it can be played. A solo like coma or paradise city are really hard to follow personal opinion. But love the musicality of cc in life goes on every rose has its thorn

Slash’s solo are where harder to play, but cece is really crisp and clean. The difference between a blues based player vs a glam band guy. Both very good. Cece did this solo on their live cd back in the day was really good

All I know is I try to learn GnR songs & Slash solos on guitar & not Poison/CC stuff. I am extremely surprised that virtually everyone is choosing CC. Who cares that Poison passed on Slash? Are the members of Poison the ultimate judges of good musicianship? Poison’s music can best be described as adolescent bubblegum, glam metal. Once my daughter & I were watching TV & a poison video came on. We just laughed at the spectacle & silliness of it all! I dig Slash’s tone, & the emotion he puts into his solos. Case in point November Rain, Don’t Cry, Sweet Child, & more. It is said if you can hum a solo and/ or hear it in your mind without the music playing it is memorable & just plain good. Slash’s solos are are definitely more memorable & epic than CC’s. Actually Slash’s leads on November Rain & Don’t Cry are not only epic but the climax of the song at just the right time!
