1984 could be referring to the George Orwell novel talking about a totalitarian future, which is essentially talking about Putin now-a-days. The book was written in the 1949 in Russia and was banned, kinda like how Putin banned speaking out against the war in Ukraine.

1984 is a dystopian novel by George Orwell(He also wrote Animal Farm which is a satire on the Soviet Revolution) which is about a world where the goverment is constantly watching and controlling the lives of its people, which Alex is using as a parrellel to the war and how Russia is treating their people. It is a really great book to read if you enjoy dystopian stuff. Also really love the reactions, the amount of joy you get from the music is a breath of fresh air to see!

It is very much an acquired taste. I'll do my best to explain it but just off the bat, i understand why you don't like it, because when i first started getting into it, i couldn't stand slaughter to prevail, now they are a top 3 favorite band of all time for me. The biggest thing is it takes time, it takes time to work up to bands like this which are known as deathcore. For a lot of people, it's 3 fold why we love this music. 1 is quite honestly just the chaos, we often feel very out of control of our own lives and the music being chaotic kinda helps ease that. 2 is the musicianship, i think you, even if you do not like the music, can recognize the insane technical talent it takes to play music like this, it's incredibly fast paced, all over the place, and not predictable a lot of times, so you have to be super fast and really on your game to play this style of music. And 3, the lyrics are deeply impactful, most of the time coming with deep, emotional lyrics, i would venture a bet and say metalcore/deathcore are some of the most emotional genres out there. As for not understanding the lyrics, that's a common complaint, but if you listen to harsh music enough you do start to understand the lyrics, it's similar (although i know not as difficult) to trying to learn a new language, you're hearing all these new sounds and all it is is just finding a way to navigate those new sounds, just takes time and practice is all. But this band is kind of a double whammy for someone like you because not only are they using very harsh (alex is actually known as one of the harshest vocalist to ever do it, the man is insanely talented and has the best gutturals in the game) but much of their songs are also in russian, so theres not a chance in hell you're gonna pick up on any familiar words during those segments. But just the fast paced, hard hitting lyrics mixed with the insane gutturals and almost inhuman sounds really draw in people who are struggling in their lives, and some people just like the sound is all.

It depends a bit on the vocalist, as some are very clear even with harsh vocals, like Alyssa from Arch Enemy. Others are always hard to understand, though it gets easier if you listen to it a lot. It does take most listeners a long time to become accustomed to though, so I understand your position well.

Bro, next time you feel like punching a wall, listen to this or something similar and read along with it. You'll be surprised. It will grow on you! Trust me! If you're a Metallica fan then you should at least appreciate the musicality in these songs. But don't hate on it. People hate on Metallica, I'm sure that gets on your nerves.

@@flame_zzl use of a gateway band is the best way to get into the heavier genres. Personally i used motionless in white, newer bring me the horizon, newer architects (starting 2ish hears ago) and a couple others, those helped me adjust to the heavier side of things and then slowly over time got into heavier and heavier bands like slaughter to prevail, enterprise earth, things of that nature.
